The only thing that was confirmed was that he grows giant if his greed goes out of control. I personally believe that if Spike keeps his greed under check, he'll grow and age at a much more natural pace. (Remember the teenage dragons? They were teenagers, but they weren't giant like Spike was.)
Perhaps the emotions associated with greed causes magical hormones to go out of whack or something.

I have finally gotten around to finish Poniko and Uboa It didn't turn out that bad!! It surprisingly turned out the way I wanted it... Now I gotta do Seccom Masada-Sensei and Shitai-San but I'm afraid they may get gender swapped. -

Oh and yea might I add we are talking about Valve here they haven't made a game that people didn't like (That I'm aware of) I don't think its possible for them to pull such a feat that was Duke Nukem Forever. Although I have to say that the hype for Portal 2 didn't meet my expectation after I finished the game the trailers made it out to be more than it actually was (Still an amazing game the puzzles are quite inspiring)... but that's my only complaint!!!
