  1. Well as you might've guessed from my avatar, I'm rather happy to see this bus getting some attention here. :)

I just wanted to add a bit of a note here since I didn't see anything mentioned about this in your article. (Very nice job you did here, by the way.)

The 30 foot New Look buses used a T-drive powertrain arrangement with a GMC V6 ToroFlow engine. From 1969 to 1971 there was also a gasoline powered GMC 351 V6 engine offered on the 30 foot models.

  2. Door interlocks are fun. :okiedokielokie:  Major source of air leaks, if you've got a faulty R14 or quick release valve they can drain all the air out of the system rather quickly. But of course the drivers will never discover these because they will never have the rear door open for very long. The interlock only engages with the rear door opening. Also, if equipped, the door master switch will disable the interlock function.

  3. Between these manufacturers, I'd rather the MTA send some of their oldest stuff to Complete Coach Works for electric conversion. Some crosstown routes like the M42 are very short and have low average speeds, making them perfect for such implementation. It costs less than ordering an all-new bus and extends the life of their old fleet, making them run like new again.

Depends on what 'old stuff' you want to use.
