Made the mistake of taking it upon myself to lift an 80lb. dog onto a table by myself at work yesterday. Now my upper arm is hella sore.

I am pretty fit! And my arms are actually pretty strong thanks to all of the dog lifting/restraining over the years I’ve worked at veterinary clinics. The only thing I need to work on is proper lifting techniques.. I know that you’re supposed to lift with your legs but I don’t understand what that means. I looked it up online and I still don’t get it, like how to do it physically.

You dont lift with your back.... @The Wife of Hawks.....hmmm if you feel pain in your back when you lift..then you are lifting with your back...or you feel muscle or tension.... If you feel the pain in your legs then you are lifting with your legs...... So do this exercise lay down...qnd lift your legs straight.... Try forming a letter L... The pain you feel in your legs... Thats what it feels like when lifting with your legs...
I wonder if that helped....
Dont bend your back... Imagine a giant wooden plank is tied at your back and can't bend your back... Thats how you lift with your legs.... Yes it's very weird.... All the force and pain is only through your legs... If you feel a bit of stress or pain in your back you are not 100% lifting with your legs...
