  1. It took me a bit to fully appreciate Rainbow Dash, I liked her but felt she was overrated. Part of was because as an Applejack fan on a subconscious level I had a bit of resentment that Rainbow Dash was so popular but Applejack is so ridiculously underrated when they both have a lot in common. What made me really start loving Rainbow Dash was Sleepless In Ponyville and Wonderbolt Academy which propped Rainbow Dash up to my 3rd and then 2nd favorite pony after Twilight tied with AJ and Luna for my favorite.

Heh. I still think RD is a little overrated, but not on the same level as before.

I resented her for the fact her arrogance earned her praise and "its a character building flaw omg lol" while Rarity's vanity was "she doesnt represent her element lol what a bitch," so I guess I can relate, albeit in a different way.

She's still 6 out of 6 in my mane 6, but I think she's in my top 10 overall now, so yay! :D

  2. Hmmm...I remember my first day. I hadn't gotten a single reply in the first 10 or 15 minutes. I was so embarrassed

Then, boom, outta nowhere, I get totally bullrushed :D

Made me feel so, so happy... :D

Now, man, this site seems to be so tense, you know, dude?

I was involved in one of the reasons it has gotten like this, I'll admit.

There's been a lot of incidents like that, though...

I've been trying to do my best, though, to redeem myself for it :D I've been pretty active on the Welcoming Plaza as of late...I think I've gotten 4 or 5 posts in there yesterday and today (Hey, HUGE improvement.)

Anyway...you're completely right about all of this. I'll back you up as much as I can on this subject :D

  3. Right and wrong. Black and white. Yin and Yang... Where am I going with this?

I never said there was a right or wrong way to view the show. I just said I feel different :I

Well, it did come across as having a different meaning, when I first read through it.

Kinda like how you seemed to think the only one I cared about was Rarity -_-

Meh. If that's the case, I'll retract the last sentence of my comment. I still stand by the rest of what I said, though.

  4. I really have been working on some of the ways I handled certain areas of the show and Brony community (Being unnecessarily defensive of my best pony is the big one.) But I don't feel a need to fix certain aspects of how I address the show.

I'm like I am about Rarity because I have fun with it, and it makes me happy to be like I am on the subject.

There isn't a right or wrong way to view the show, Rin :D

  5. I kinda have the impression that Rarity is the only thing you care about in the show :v

Sorry you've gotten that impression, Rin.

I do have a lot of bias and favoritism towards her, but I do care about the rest of the show and what happens with the other ponies, and how they're portrayed, as well.

    As evidenced here:

I hated the way Applejack was portrayed even BEFORE Season 3; come on, man, Applejack kicks ass!

I love the way they're writing Applejack. She's so cool! Like, man, this is the kind of AJ I want to see!

It's restoring my appreciation for Rainbow Dash, which had been almost completely voided as I progressed throughout the seasons

they're writing Twilicorn in a way in which, I feel, is being pulled off. Not drawing too much attention to her Princess Status, but letting it be known.

For Pinkie and Fluttershy, I don't think much change was in order, other than balance of screen-time, but that's already been fixed.

If I were saying that they were on the same level as Rarity to me, that'd be a lie. You and I both know that. However, I do care for them quite a bit, particularly Fluttershy, when it comes to outside Rarity.

  6. Welcome to blogging on MLPForums!

This is probably my favorite section of the site. You'll love it!

You can do so much more here than on the topics; you can freely speak your mind, sharing your thoughts and opinions about whatever you want to vicariously through the sound of your fingertips striking the keyboard...:D

I don't generally welcome people to blogging like this, but it was ambitious of you to start one on your first day. Ambition is always welcome! :D

  7. Perhaps, but "apologies" often show themselves in their true form of "this-is-why-I'm-technically-right-pease-feel-bad-for-me" sort of threads. It creates more drama than is needed.

Now, if it's a true apology, then by all means they should be allowed to speak their mind. Unfortunately, the sins of the few have affected the many.

Hey now, it was an apology. Didn't say he should be reinstated :D It seemed like he bothered a lot of people, and I'm fine with his ban, just the denial of his apology was a bit off-putting. Especially since it was the way he acted; he was one of this group who turned on everyone and became dicks, it seemed.

So, again, I'm not saying "UNBANHIMHESRIGHTIFEELBAD" I'm just saying he apologized. That's not something to be shut down without bias.

Trace this back to the point of the blog.

Anyway, dude, I think the way this blog was handled got an admin to look over my friend's suspension :D It's all under control, no harm done for the time being.

Just awaiting the verdict. Locking this blog myself, no reason to continue. I'm already anxious about my friend here, and I feel I brought attention to something and made a difference.

No need to beat a dead...dunno if I should say "horse" or "pony" here...

  8. I'm still blowing small amounts of dust off of my username, so please ignore the mess.

Now, as far as posts go, this is nothing new. In fact, in all the years that I've been here, I doubt any of the mods/admins would care. So first let me say: relax a little. It's your opinion. Don't sweat it. Opinions are good.

Now, as for the admins/mods in question: they're here to make life better. That requires a little lot of time, and no small amount of patience. Yeah, they get a lot of flak. Why? Because they're doing their job. It comes with the territory. It's impossible to make both sides happy. I'll take up arms when I see a rational reason to do so. Until then, I'll be one of the few to vouch for the staff. (I'll note that a vast majority of the time, people don't have 100% of the information about a given event, even when they themselves are 130% sure they do.)

As for bias: what do people expect? This is a forum. People write things. They display part of themselves here. If they have a track record of being in cohorts with the law breakers, people are going to think they're lawbreakers in general. Tough luck.

People getting banned is nothing new. In fact, the last time I logged in I was greeted with the overhyped fallout from someone else getting banned. It's life. People make mistakes. Mistakes have consequences.

And while we're on the subject of warnings and bannings, I'm going to give EVERYONE the chance to see the most valuable advice they could POSSIBLY receive for avoiding warnings/bans, written from personal experience:

    Don't be an idiot.

Yes yes, I know what you're thinking:

    aAYDnMg_460sa.gif

But there you have it. The single most valuable piece of information I could give. It's not hard really. Keep posts clean, friendly, and on topic. That's it - it's pretty much impossible to get banned at that point.

"Have you ever gotten a warning?" you ask? Yes, actually. Two of them. One was off topic stuff that was my own fault. The other was a misunderstanding on the staff's part. (And yes, I recieved warning points for something that was already sorted out the previous day.) But you know what? It didn't matter. It was an honest mistake, and nobody would benefit from fighting it. It didn't affect me, the warning points would disappear in a few weeks, and none would be the wiser.

I don't know what the atmosphere is like around here nowadays, but to all of the new forum members who might be reading this: don't worry. The staff are down to Earth Equestria people. They're doing their jobs - so go have fun! Just try and keep things clean and friendly, okay?

    Sincerely,

    -A veteran forum member.

I'll admit that, at first, I handled the news quite poorly that my friend had been suspended. I will apologize for that.

However, I do feel that she has been wronged, given the circumstances.

I also feel a mod should remain professional when dealing with situations like the one he was in with her, and I feel he failed to do so; she's not a mod for a reason, just like he IS a mod for a reason. They have power, and I feel it was abused after looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident with a clear head.

I have no disdain for the mods or admins themselves, and I do agree they get a lot of flack that is unnecessary, as is the case with every authority figure.

And, personally, my problem with the whole "banned" thing was that is was a shot down public apology.

I've noticed these things far too often around here for me to be comfortable with, and my opinion was not heard. That is why I posted this blog.

  9.

Really? I was under the impression that general NSFW talk was allowed, but if it was in an inappropriate and rude context (such as calling the mod in question to you-know-what) then it might be justified.

She disagreed on a status that could be thought of as negative towards her posted by that mod. It can be thought of as directed towards her due to him posting it immediately after locking down a status she had posted.

She claimed he was abusive of his powers.

She was suspended for saying "Cum." in a way that was directed at nobody, nor meant to be insulting, in a topic that she herself created, by said mod.

If I felt she had been deserving, I would not take any action like this, as it could end up harming me.

However, I feel she was not deserving of her suspension, and I plan on standing by my friend.

  10. For the record, certainty does not equate to proof. Hard as it might be to believe, not every mod is a raging dick who vindictively hands out warnings or suspensions to those he/she doesn't care for. I've been handed well-deserved warnings by mods whom I'm friends with - does that mean they have something against me, too?

    Honestly, I have proof.

My friend was handed warning points for saying "Cum.", according to her.

However, I did see that the mod and her had a bit of personal animosity between them on a couple of their status updates.

If my friend was suspended for saying "Cum." by a mod in which I saw her publicly disagree with (somewhat inappropriately, I might add) , I have reason to believe that was an unjust warning.

I didn't say every mod was a "raging dick," and I didn't say that all of their warnings were unjust. I've gotten warnings I feel were perfectly justifiable.

But, I do feel that I've seen the mods and admins do some unjustifiable things as of late, and since voicing my opinion wasn't working anywhere else, I came here.

  11. It took them like 2 months and like 5 email / tickets to finally answer my friend when he got permanently banned for making a few accounts but at least he finally got unbanned :| it still very dumb how long it took and how many times he had to send them it kinda seemed like he was kicking a dead tree kinda pissed me off :|

then again I never really respected people with power, Power corrupts people

I dunno why he got banned, but there must've been a good reason, considering how people reacted.

But I do think if he wanted to apologize through someone else when he was unable to do so himself, that should be permitted.

  12. The blog post in question was posted in public, something that was completely unnecessary since it can be resolved in a private dispute between the banned person (not a friend) and the moderator or admin who banned him. Sometimes I think it should be okay for things like this to be posted in public, but just a few months ago a mod was slandered quite a lot for banning a much-liked member and the whole thing became much more dramatic than it should.

Now, if someone DID actually tell your friend that she's a pile of dirt beneath their feet, then that's wrong, but I don't see how any of the staff would say such a thing.

Anyway, it's good that you're stating your honest opinion in a reasonable and peaceable way, so I don't believe you'll get a warning (not that I know, hah) but I think if a banned member wanted to apologize, he should do it personally rather than ask another to do it for him.

I dunno how he'd manage to do that.

    Being banned and all.

But thanks on the rest :D I'm really trying to remain professional about this

  13. Huh? What happened?

I've never heard of Grumpy Enchantress, but this situation sounds really bad. sad.png

This new user who started this whole "Should AJ be killed off?" Topic. I just want this crap to end. It's not right. They're not a troll, they just made a mistake. It's time to move on and welcome them into our circle, rather than keep them out and be dicks about it. They said awful things, but they were wrong. If we haven't driven them off already, we need to welcome them back, though. Forgive and forget, man.
