  1. The forum software code does not allow for members to pick or keep their badges. The post count system is based on just that ... post count. IPB (the software we use) uses pips or blocks by default which can be replaced by an image instead. User groups can also be granted a badge overriding post count (this is how staff badges are handled), but that is something that is not automated.

  2. Yes, a marketplace element has been suggested several times in the past. Unfortunately this is a model that we continue to look at unfavorably. Without an appropriate escrow mechanism this is something we would not want to implement here. There is too much risk of a sour transaction that would negatively impact the user experience. Even if we designed the forum and rules in a way that MLPF and the staff had limited liability, the perception would still exist that we would need to intervene on disputes between two parties. I would rather not open members up to being taken advantage of when there are better options available for Pony collectors out there that allow these protections.

  3. Just curious if there are any fashionistas, people that may not be into actually creating/designing outfits and such but are very particular about what they wear, how they look, keeping everything looking nice etc. etc.?

My work appearance is impeccable, to the point that I had been known to keep spare clothes in my office in case of a wardrobe issue. I buy brand name and yes I have had suits tailored by sole proprieters. My dress down (at home is less impressive) but also includes dress shirts and jeans.

Rarity would completely approve of how I dress for interviews and work. :D

I also follow trends in men's fashion.

  4. First thing is first, here will be the new Starlight Glimmer emote. It will be put up shortly (the correct size of course).

This next poll is to focus on characters that have long been established on FiM but lack an emote. I kinda have a feeling who will win this one. I could have like a hundred characters on here, so I limited it to some obvious omissions.

Anywhoo ... vote away guys. I'll leave this up for a few days.

Also if you want to know what I am rooting for.

  5. So when we broke the $3000.00 goal I promised I would sing a new random Pony song for every $100.00 we raised from that point. $1200.00 later and I had to randomly pick a dozen songs, record a bunch of them, and slowly over the next week or so I will be posting them. The songs were pulled from ones that have not been used on this year or last years event. Some Season Five stuff got selected. Some are not solos. Yep I tried to do some character voices.

Anyway, knowing I have absolutely no talent for singing ... I tried to be as goofy on some of these as I could. Hopefully I succeeded.

Here is song 1 or 12 - Becoming Popular ... and I am soooo sorry for this.

  6. No, please don't do this!

It goes ageist what MLP is all about if you're opinion on something is different based of the fact that I am a woman then that is really dumb. I feel like this would work vice versa as well.

This is a little close to how I view things.

Honestly I want people to have a reason to add to their profiles. I want people to have a reason to go to other profiles and check them out.

Also, I think from a visual design perspective, visual glut is unattractive. There was a discussion some time ago about adding national flags to the area housing a persons avatar. I eventually came to the realization it would start making the area cluttered.

Also, like a gender symbol, it would work on unintentionally coloring opinions of the actual content made and that flies against the motto I live by (imagine people complexly). Unless it is specific to the topic I couldn't care less what gender or nationality you are when I am reading your opinion. In the case where it matter I trust the intelligence and judgement of the individual to add this information to the text for context anyway.

  7. Hard to classify yes or no. My mother left us when I was 7 for Florida and I didn't have much interaction with her until my father passed away. My father was strict with some things (big picture stuff like lying, homework, knowing where I was, and even when I was being a bit of an ass), but was easy going with some things like what I was allowed to read, watch, and see. I was protected but not coddled. I was parented but not controlled.

    So ... Yes and No.

Also this topic is fun for me since I have kids older than some of you. :P

  8. While reading the rules for this forum it kinda got hard and became difficult, im not saying the person who wrote the rules is bad at writing, but for future references try make it clearer and make it a bit shorter because what if someone has trouble reading and they cant understand whats being told, im not trying to sound rude.

so what im trying to say is could you make the rules a bit more simpler, im not trying to be rude, im just giving an honest opinion.

And I understand that. I am a huge fan of brevity. The rules used to be that way ... until we heard resounding feedback the other way. The rules exist in their current form precisely due to comments of 'x isn't in there'.

The Global Rules are usually a paragraph long. The FAQ is built to address specific questions and disputes raised over the years.

Four years of evolution changes a lot.

  9. Regardless of the very male-ness of your voice, I believe you did a rather good job. I enjoyed it, for what it's worth... but I still believe you'd have had more fun singing a Flim Flam number. *chuckle*

So, question: when we have a good number of tracks, are we going to put out an actual album?

    Just a thought.

It is part of an album on Pony.FM :)

  10. Can we get rid of the 20 character thing? It's annoying.

I am moving this to feedback as this is not a technical issue or a bug. Long ago we did not have a character minimum. The result was a lot of posts that lacked coherence or anything that resembled substance. Thus my predecessors inacted the character minimum. It used to be higher than 20 characters all areas, but we did lower it to be more fair. We actually take a lot of pride in the fact that we require a small measure of thought to be displayed in out posts. To be direct, 20 characters is not a lot ... at all.

At this time the character minimum will be staying. This includes the higher threshold found in Debate Pit and some RP areas.

  11. The subject of this topic has little potential to spark discussion between many members and, as such, would be better suited to a status update or a blog. When creating a thread, please remember that the goal is to start a conversation with room for many people to chime in and give their own viewpoints on, and that sharing events of an anecdotal nature would be better done elsewhere.

  12. Hey! What have we here? A fellow Brony dad professional. Also Brooklyn connection (my wife would urge me to insert some Cannonball Park reference).

Glad to have you on the site Pirate!
