      It is not about the destination, but the JOURNEY.

      My favourite fanfic in Fimfiction has 200.000+ words [the original mature version of "Five Score Divided by four"].

      I am enjoying it by not reading all of it in a single week; but rather pacing myself so it last more than a month (the side-fics based on the same universe/settings also helps, since they must catch up the main storyline).

      If the story is good, you can wait to finish it as long as you need to (if is not,...

      You are not forced to continue reading a story with "a good potential" but badly written, nor finish the last chapter of a decent story that keeps draging forever with unnecesary filler.

       

      Just like how it happens in real life with any other enterprise, only one or two of every ten will pass the test of quality, quantity and convenience/timing; most works never got enough critic/praised because most readers do not finish them.
