With a flourish Markus signed his name on the painting. He sighed in contentment. It's true that starting out in this land was difficult, not ever having had to live by his own means in his life. Especially when he focused more on paintings than his own meals most times. He's lucky that some of the other colonists took pity on him and traded a bit of their food for his rushed paintings.
Lucky as he is, this is the reason he now has no worry for his money. After the colony began to be more firmly established, and the bits were finally distributed, people started to look more towards the finer things. This included nice furniture, vases, and other decorations for their brand new homes. This meant being one of the few artists in the colony, and the only really advertised one, he was the go-to for anything decorative.
This particular work wasn't for selling though. No the work that Markus had finished was for one of his new friends, Peregrine. Her shop began construction recently (although the painting was originally for celebrating her stall opening) and Markus thought she might like something to decorate the walls.
The painting had turned out lovely, if not unusual. He had been unable to make his usual pallette of paints, so he had to be a little off with his color choice. The painting was of the colony. He had painted it from a cloud facing the sea, and only painted during sunset to add to its majesty. It was pretty awesome to say the least.
"Now that the paint should be dry enough to move, I should see if Peregrine's at her shop." With that Markus took off in the direction of Peregrine's property.
