  1. Happy birthday! 2-8-17

  2. Yeah it does. I never thought I could relate to it the way I did. I have struggled for many months with myself being in the military. It was something I struggled at and I'm kinda at the bottom of the totem pole in regards to skill and talent. On the other side of things, my family is struggling and living paycheck to paycheck to make ends meet. It was after watching "Hurricane Fluttershy" that I kinda motivated me to keep going with what I don't want to do, because someone else might need me more than I realize. Despite all my efforts to train and do better physically and confidence-wise, I still have made little progress. But my family needs me to do it. So I give it that little extra push that we need. Other than that, it's been a godsend for depression and loneliness. While I love good stories and plot, too many shows and movies are just so damn depressing. It was a breath of fresh air to watch something that made me feel happy. I swear this show made me smile for the first time in months when I first started watching it. So yeah... it has a special place in my heart.
  3. I swear every time I have that dream, it gets more and more realistic.
  4. Working on a storybook/animation/interactive video

  5. I'm back (again).

  6. The most recently weird dream I've had was a nightmare. My family and friends discovered I was a brony and endlessly mocked me. Dreams like this are probably not helping me gain enough confidence to tell them.
  7. So, I just started work on a new storybook/animation. I'm kinda new to all this so be gentle, but tell me what you think: http://shykalar.deviantart.com/ I tried to do my own style mixed with that of the shows (Because who couldn't love that animation). I did want my own, personal touch to it (I'm a pencil-sketch artist that rarely ever draws lines or anything, so this style is really new to me)
  8. I'm glad to see you had a change of heart. Welcome (again?) to the site!

  9. It's hard. Part of me wants to scream it out. The other part knows that I just can't. As a Socially angst guy, I have a hard enough time trying to say anything at all. But saying your a Brony is hard. When I lived at home, it was hard enough to say I wanted to move away (rural families like to stay close). They are very right wing. Hell, I'm right wing. But, unlike most right wing people, I don't see how liking a tv show that is clean, positive and uplifting is a bad thing. I know people that find Bronies to be "non-Christian" while they watch gruesome and convoluted shows. As long as you ain't clopping, there ain't anything bad about Ponies. But that's why telling people is hard. Everyone assumes you clop. Everyone. I watch an episode a night. Maybe 2 on a weekend. That's it. I watch the show. I am a fan of this show. But people assume it's worse. So keeping this secret ìs a necessary evil. Keeping this a secret allows people to see me as a normal person and that's all I need. I don't want drama or to have to defend myself. I don't go out of my way to hide it, I just never mention it because it doesn't need to be brought up. I am in the "closet" because no one has bothered to open the door and I ain't going to. That's not a fight I need in my life right now. My wife knows. That's it. No one else on the face of this planet could tie my face to me being a Brony. Except maybe the comic book shop keeper who sells me my t-shirts. Maybe.

    Hello.

While I am not new to the site, I'm new to accepting I'm a brony. Not going to lie, I did this as a Journalist project in school where I was to dive inside something I dislike and write about it from a neutral angle. So I did and that's what brought me here. Anyways, you guys were super nice, everyone I talked to was incredible and You guys really won me over. I decided to give the show a watch and dang is it addicting. As a general pop culture geek I can appreciate the references and whatnot. I'm going through a bit of a difficult time in life where those dreams you once had are fading and it is nice to see a show that is positive and uplifting. Also, the animation is superb for this show. I love the characters, the light-hearted feeling, and the general positivity. Heck, this show motivated me to pick myself back up and pursue those dreams. As a guy who loves and has always dreamed of working in animation, I can proudly say I'm in application with DHX Media, the company behind this show. I bought my first Brony t-shirt last week to add to my ever-growing geek t-shirt collection. This was also my first public display of being a Brony. Only one person knows yet (I live 100 km away from anyone I know, besides my wife), but this is a great way to just get out there and like what I like. I figured if I could wear a Star Wars t-shirt because I like Star Wars, then it's ok to wear a My Little Pony t-shirt because I like My Little Pony. Too bad I have this revelation 1 week after BronyCAN. Next year, I guess. So, I guess what I want to say is Hello, for real this time. Feel free to message me. I'm also on 9gag under the same name.
  11. Thanks for the enthusiastic welcome, I've been procrastinating on joining this place for a couple days. I just needed to tell someone, as I'm sure some of you can relate. Nice to know I'm not the only person who was kinda freaked out at first. I hope to contribute to art and animation soon. Cheers! (My avatar is a synfig animated fluttershy I did, recolored of course)
  12. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Fluttershy How did you find MLP Forums?: Google search. I was looking for How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: I'm not actually TOO committed To the show. Curious about it, yes, but I came across it while researching 2D animation tutorials on YouTube. The animation style was what I was looking for so I decided to take a look. I've watched a few episodes and it kinda took me by surprise. I'm not sure if I'll ever commit to being a full fledged fan but I decided to join this to get some insight into the fan base and maybe try and get ideas for future animations. Imitation is the start to great creation. I was, up until 2 weeks ago, a brony hater. Never spoke about it and thought bronies were freaks. I'm still hesitant of committing to being a die hard fan, but the show deserves credit for what it's accomplished. It's actually very well done and has my respect. Also, I know that all fandoms have their freaks, as I used to be a Star Wars freak (designed costumes, conventions and everything. Online troll) I'm a guy. I'm 20. I'm getting married in Less than 3 months to the girl of my dreams who has no idea of this. I have no idea why I like fluttershy. She's shy and I relate to that, I guess. And, lastly, I am Canadian. I have lived in Edmonton, Courtenay, Halifax, and am moving to Vancouver. I'm incredibly creative to a fault.
