I Have Asperger's. Aspie-Bronies Out There?
Nikola Xerdav replied to PonyFunk's topic in General Discussion
i was only diagnosed with A.D.D. when i was a kid, but i had way more social issues than that would have let on, i was a bit of a spaz throughout my school years, i got intensely obsessed with stuff (i kinda still do), and i would have odd mannerisms based on my interests, i would want to talk people's ears off about things they didn't care about (i still want to but i realized that most people don't care what i have to say). i was diagnosed with Asperger's when i was 19, as at the time i was looking to get on the S.S.D.I. list for having A.D.D. and apparently they thought i had Asperger's which made my wait time a little shorter. i don't know if i really have ASD, it seems like a vague thing, i see some people with Autism mastering college math at age 13, while i nearly flunked all my classes by my last 2 years of high school. i think i also had diagnosed clinical depression since age 14, and i always question everything and worry about everything. i could go on and on about how i love and hate myself, but i don't feel like posting my biography today. i got into MLP a week after i had openly mocked it alongside my friends (the irony was so delicious), and i know some people claim MLP made their lives better or made them more happy (good for them), but it's just another show to me, and i can't help but to analyze the crap out of it sometimes because i tend to take things too seriously. the show isn't enough of a good comedy for me to take everything with a grain of salt, when the writer team wants to attempt "serious story time" with halfassed attempts at keeping character qualities in line and plots that have good pacing and setups, sometimes they fail, and then i must complain, and trust me, i am complaining, not whining, if you want whining, THIIIS IIIS WHIIINNGGG (sorry, couldn't help myself, lol). so yeah, i think it's a pretty good show, for a kid's show, but sometimes i feel like i should stick with stuff like Game Of Thrones and my various anime i try to watch (though i don't have access to season 5 GoT and the animes i've been watching lately haven't been as interesting to me as MLP, which is a very ironic realization). i think the community makes MLP even more awesome, because most of my time is not even watching the actual show, it's being on youtube or on this forum or something else checking all the fan content and opinions everywhere, trying to feel connected and such but yeah, hi there everypony -
i thought this episode was pretty fun. i was kinda disappointed to seeing a lot of negative response from brony analysts. i am somewhat an analyst myself, but i think i let the show get away with more things than other people do. i thought this was a good episode, it had an entertaining slapstick element, as you can usually expect with Pinkie Pie centered episodes, but this maybe more so in some ways. Spike getting a rock hit on his head with Twily practicing magic, and all the things that happen to Twily specifically, like the frog on her face, falling into a ditch, got mud on her, door slams in her face, though i think of all the mishaps, the old school cartoon slapstick of an anvil and piano falling on her was my favorite. also, i like how nonchalant Pinkie was about her pet alligator being in the tub with Twilight Gummy is best pet btw. as for the debate about the moral of the story, i don't think it's about religious stuff, i think it's more about trying to believe things even if you don't understand or can't scientifically prove it. like we can't scientifically prove that The Big Bang happened, we can theorize about it, just as much as we can't scientifically prove that the Christian concept of God exists. sometimes there are just things out of your grasp, but you shouldn't let it consume you. you could also see this, in the context of the show, as early proof that Earth ponies can actually possess magic, but since this type of power Pinkie possesses may be rare or unique for all we know, Twilight might not have read it in a book, or maybe doesn't own any books about it (sort of how there's no books about Dragons, ha.. haha... yeah, that is another review for another time). so even though Twilight may not have the means or research to fully understand Pinkie's power, it doesn't mean that it is warrant to be so doubtful, though free-thinking and skepticism is healthy, you shouldn't close your mind to possibilities of the unknown.

snap, i keep getting The Cutie Mark Chronicles confused in my head when i think about this episode, but now that i skimmed over Sonic Rainboom before adding my 2 cents, i get cleared up before i almost made a fool out of myself xD so absolutely no complaints from me about this episode, it was one of my favorite episodes of the series, especially from S1 <3 everything was awesome, i can't really say anything that hasn't been said already, but i will make highlight that i love how the episode started (like how everyone else loves this scene with FS and RD trying to teach her how to cheer) which led onto one of my favorite meme, the FUS RO yay~ hehe. but also, i must remark that when Rarity started flying up to the sun, and i realized she was warned about her wings being fragile, Flight Of Icarus by Iron Maiden played in my mind as her wings burned up "fly on your way like an eagle, fly, touch the sun!!!~" i love RD

i was afraid to touch this spinoff movie due to the negative reviews, but i also heard Rainbow Rocks was good, and i didn't want to just jump into Rainbow Rocks without seeing the first movie, so i gave it a chance. just as i was expecting to be let down, this movie kept surprising and impressing me, and though i admit that Sunset wasn't the most interesting or original villain, but there is just so much good in this movie, and the writing was so aware of things, i can barely contain myself and explain xD i was expecting way more problems than actually happened, considering that even the mane show sometimes has plot holes that really turn me off, or sometimes they exaggerate characters beyond a reasonable threshold, but for this movie, nope, not at all, it felt very well balanced and executed (thank you Meghan Mccarthy, this is probably because you wrote it). it was convenient that Twilight Sparkle's possible paradox wasn't an issue, but the fact that this was an acknowledged possibility and not just speculation, Pinkie basically stated she already knew of TS from the city, and this makes sense, alt universe, maybe just as TS had her own reasons to go to Ponyville in the canon, the TS of the human realm probably didn't have a similar push to make her go to Canterlot High School, so the issue of a paradox wasn't a problem with a justified speculation. i can't even fully analyze everything, i usually only bother to state things that are problems, but because i barely had any problems with this movie, i can't exactly tell you play by play everything i felt and thought about it, but it was just so nice, it felt like episode one all over again but in an alt reality, it was so much fun, and the teen drama is something that i eat up, i love teen drama, which is probably why a 5th of my favorite animes are based in high school (Ouran ftw). i realize this wasn't a very original story at it's core, but it was a solid spinoff that is good enough that i honestly would not mind it being canon. and if Rainbow Rocks is supposed to be better? oh boy, then i might potentially finally give a 5 stars to something MLP related that isn't fanwork (yes, i technically don't love anything in MLP enough to give 5 perfect stars, but i am a very critical person who holds standards on the lines of Lord Of The Rings, Game Of Thrones, Baccano!, etc). while i gave this first movie 4 stars, i expected to either hate it or be more neutral with 2 or 3 stars, 4 stars is a pretty high rating for me to offer something, so in conclusion i liked EqG a lot and i look forward to taking time to watch Rainbow Rocks :grin2:

hey there MountainDrew, and aside from i may have listed on my profile, i don't play much for video games anymore. i primarily just play BF4 and Skyrim, then Tibia and GW2 for mmos, and i've been very inactive on those lately to be part of the MLP community and absorb all the fan content

this was one of my favorite episodes with Rarity, which by the way, there is speculation that the WWE wrestler John Cena made a vague reference to Rarity's quote, there is a video about it on youtube somewhere, it is quite paraphrased and could be seen as a coincidence, but i wouldn't know, i haven't followed WWE since it was still called WWF, lol. but anyway, people claim he mentioned something about MLP on his twitter but this happened such a long while ago i can't find proof of the tweet. anyways... i like how this episode is of few episode treading carefully on a potentially dark premise. Rarity was kipnapped and forced into slavery... that is heavy. fortunately enough, Diamond Dogs, as supposedly cunning as they are, are only so cunning compared to Rarity, and she basically turned the tables on them using her wit and feminine personality against them. realistically, this isn't the best moral to teach to kids "if you ever get abducted kids, just annoy your kidnappers until they let you go", but oh well, i take it with a grain of salt, i honestly don't care if a moral makes perfect sense, as long as an episode is fun and clever in other ways.

this was one of my favorite Pinkie Pie episodes, i have to agree with many, that the dark side of Pinkie is something that should be explored again, and since the writers like to pull rabbits out of their hats sometimes to force whatever plot they want, either for the sake of moral, or for their own amusement.. i wouldn't mind just a tiny bit of pandas being thrown at me xD as for the Pinkamena people speak of, if that has anything to do with Cupcakes... i... i... i just didn't like Cupcakes :'( it made me depressed when i first read it... i love Rainbow Dash btw <3

let's begin! i have been on and off EqD, not really satisfied with it, there doesn't seem to be a forum there, so mostly my entire time getting into MLP:FiM has relied on trying to connect to people on Youtube, but that only works so much, because i tend to make really long comments and i feel like no one likes having in depth conversations on Youtube that doesn't involve making "response videos" which i am too lazy to make at this current time. so now i am here, hoping that i can have discussions, or friendly debate, about characters, plot elements, or entire episodes even, without feeling like i am talking to myself. i'm afraid i am a complicated soul too, i both love and hate myself, but i don't want to get into my life story. but what i will say as far as MLP goes, i will elaborate that RD is my favorite pony by default, i do not claim her to be superior to the other ponies, even though she is totally awesome and 20% cooler than the other ponies (i'm kidding), i acknowledge her flaws, and i try to forgive her when she has been a selfish jerk, or sometimes lazy and ignorant. with all that in mind, i actually have a 3 way tie in my mind between RD, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie, which i like for such different reasons, that i can't pit them against each other fairly. as for the others within the mane six, i have no hate for them, but i honestly find AJ, Rarity, and TS to be kind of boring in most episodes, AJ is too country for me, Rarity is too Zoolander for me, and i do like TS, but aside from her amazing, but rare, OCD freak outs, she is only as interesting as her friends allow her to be. there is a TL:DR story of how i got into MLP:FiM, and for those you care and or dare to know, i honestly thought the brony fandom was a joke and i honestly couldn't believe anyone above age 10 who was male would like a show about pretty candy ponies. at the same time, i honestly also didn't care, at all, and i didn't go out of my way to ridicule such people, it's not like i am not into my own "weird" stuff already, being an otaku and all, in fact, borderline weeaboo even xD but then about a month ago, i reinstalled Team Fortress 2, even though i know i suck at it, and because i suck at it, i was looking for different kinds of maps and servers to play on, and then i saw a MLP gametype called Boss Fight or something, i thought it would be hilarious to run around as pony models and kill people. it only took 2 hours before i had every brony irritated at all the questions i was asking chat by then, because i thought that a lot of the 3D models were kinda cool, and when i learned that Cheese Sandwich was Weird Al i had a feeling that i was missing out on something. so i kept playing on that server for a couple days, and then i decided to start doing research on youtube because now i was curious to see if MLP was really worth watching. i found that the top searches were both fan and hater videos, but the thing was, i noticed that hater videos were very short and really had no substance, were very brash, and honestly didn't have well fleshed out opinions, and i hate that. when i review an anime i hate, i will give you at least 3 full paragraphs explaining why Soul-eater gave me cancer after 7 episodes.. (oops, did i just say that? lol), but i can't take MLP haters seriously, because they didn't even seem to watch more than 2 minutes of the show before giving a single paragraph of hate speech. this research of MLP was just me dancing around the issue instead of just caving in and watching it on Netflix, which i knew it was on (my friends had actually added MLP:FiM onto my Netflix list, and made gay jokes about me as a prank, but i dismissed it at the time because i knew i didn't watch the show). after some positive youtube reviews, i was almost there, but decided to watch one of the brony documentaries on Netflix, and though it was the one with Ashleigh Ball (the not-as-good-as-the-other-one), i reached my peak and i was like "fuck it, i'm gonna watch the first two episodes". what happened after that was that i watched 6 episodes straight, and i only stopped because i had stay awake until like 8 AM, lol (i forgot to mention that i literally spent only one entire night on the third day of playing that MLP TF2 gametype, researching MLP:FiM). and so now over the course of this month i am caught up on Netflix, and started using my tv again to DVR the season 5 episodes. i do not consider myself a brony, though i did buy 2 t-shirts, i also watch every decent looking fanmade video, i listen to Ponyforce, Equestrian Lord, and the dubstep person who named themself after DJ PON3, i read fanfics sometimes, and i have a MLP mod in Skyrim that lets me transform into a pony of my choice. no, i'm not obsessed, i promise ~insert manic Twilight Sparkle meme here~ hehe xD okay, i may be a little bit of a brony, but even though i am on a "high" because i was bewildered by this show being so good, i still have issues which i will eventually start discussions and or debates about the show and how i feel like Cindy Morrow and M A Larson are hit or miss writers, but that is something i will let be for now, since this is a mere introduction post. cya later fellow ponies
