  1. i caught that Magic The Gathering joke, hehe xD i love your chibi Baphomet picture btw :3 maybe they all got the Searing Light spell from D&D/PathfinderRPGhttp://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/s/searing-light Searing Light School evocation; Level cleric/oracle 3, inquisitor 3; Domainglory 3, sun 3 CASTING Casting Time 1 standard action Components V, S EFFECT Range medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level) Effect ray Duration instantaneous Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance yes DESCRIPTION Focusing divine power like a ray of the sun, you project a blast of light from your open palm. You must succeed on a ranged touch attack to strike your target. A creature struck by this ray of light takes 1d8 points of damage per two caster levels (maximum 5d8). 2. i normally am pretty quick to get critical about show writing, so i sympathize with how you may feel about this, and yeah, i was kinda thrown off about the S5's finale was a bit rushed with how they handled Starlight's backstory and motivations, but that episode was badass and i've grown accustomed since S2 to expect half assed finales from Hasbro's staff. i just sort of take it with a grain of salt how Starlight was written, and try to pretend the backstory isn't so bad that it ruins my ability to move forward with the plot (i had to do the same thing to enjoy the EqG sequels). hopefully you will warm up to the rest of the season, i personally liked this episode a lot, but i'm sorry it didn't meet your expectations okay, i took in some insight from others before making my 2 cents... this will be short, because i have nothing to complain about (and not many people like to read my 12 paragraph rants like on Party Pooped, lol). 9/10 really good episode, the writing, the editing, Josh Haber is a genius, no plot holes (though questions to be answered, but otherwise the plot setup these questions more or less on purpose). yes, it was a bit slow and not as flashy as some premieres. i will agree that it is odd to see a premiere without a new villain introduced, but really, does there always have to be? i personally think the push for villains all the time makes for sloppy writing, a lot of the MLPstaff are just bad at writing up good and interesting villains. Tirek, as badass as he was, was a simple villain, and aside from the DBZ flashy battles, i didn't like him that much, wasn't really anything to go off of, and what fanon would even make him interesting? so i don't think it's a bad thing that we didn't get something overly bombastic and a new villain, i find the interactions and intrigue that we got to be well enough. i also have been watching House Of Cards on Netflix, so the whole slow moving plot with intrigue and well thought dialogue within these character interactions is something i find refreshing in MLP, not that they never do so, but the way it was handled this time was very impressive, and i look forward to seeing Josh Haber's writing again in the future
  3. i don't hate RD, but sometimes the writers infuriate me. i never had too big of an issue with RD having flaws and aside from a couple episodes centered on her not being the best, i never had any issues with a RD episode until Tanks For The memories where she basically goes insane and destroys the weather factory without repercussion all because she wasn't going to be able to play with her pet in the winter. i downgraded her on my favorite pony list since then, but she is still within the top 5 for me.
  4. who is that green hair girl in Friendship Games? i like her, she all rocking out and stuff

  5. not even 9 minutes into Equestria Games i see an issue...

  6. finally got my 4DE Rainbow Dash :-)

  7. 4DE finally sent me an email that they shipped my RD plush, only took like 5 months :P

  8. um... okay, considering it's Josh Haber, and there is no indication that Mitch and Meghan held his hand this time around, at least according to the credits... this was pretty good... but... plot holes, plot holes everywhere. one plot hole is tied to a previous plot hole dealing with Chrysalis, but i guess they gave up the hypocritical notion that changlings feed on love, since they half-ass their job at being sneaky, and you would think that they would be more like that one siren chick from Rainbow rocks about obtaining their food source. anyway, i don't feel like opening that can of worms, i'm sure Antony C on youtube grilled way more out of A Canterlot Wedding than i could ever think to nit pick about, so moving on... a lot of what happens is kind of partially justified with how the time paradox was explained, yet not thoroughly; i will need to rewatch to recall everything, but first of all, if Fluttershy needed that race to get her to visit the ground (well, falling to her near death technically) then how come she is well integrated in nature, in every instance of her in the altered present? not to mention, if AJ never was inspired to go back home to work on the farm, then why was she there the first time back? why did the scroll disappear into the time portal after they resolved things with Starlight? complaints aside, this was a really badass episode, and it wasn't like "dumb badass" like the Tirek episode, where it's just some 2 bit bad guy you would find in a NES game. though it felt a bit bent over the aesop, it wasn't too contrived. the various scenarios that occurred, though a bit questionable in terms of consistent backplot, were fun and interesting surreal realities. though one forced situation that bugged me is, Twilight has fought Tirek, granted, with the powers of like 3 other alicorns, but even so, she can't face 2 timber wolves? she really needed to lure Nightmare Moon to help her with that? and run the risk that her immense power, the power that overthrew Celestial herself, would have maybe screwed her over? yeah, that was a little pointless, just to give us fan service of like "this is what it would be like if Nightmare Moon won" scenario. i rather would have seen more Discord, that was shorted. and it's funny that the only thing Tirek apparently wanted to do was run around shooting lasers at stuff, like really? he has the mind of a 15 year old boy who got Battlefield Bad Company 2 to play multiplayer just so he could blow up and level all the buildings. i also was bothered by Twilight saying "each future was worst than the last", but the last one was just the Flim Flam brothers industrializing the land, i mean, that isn't that bad, maybe it's a shitty monopoly or something, who knows, but i'm pretty sure that, idk, Tirek destroying the world to oblivion, or eternal night under a Korean dictator like Nightmare Moon, or even being enslaved by Sombra, or eaten by changelings would be worse than "industrial age Ponyville". but yeah, this was a cool episode despite it's flaws and questionable plot themes.
  9. hey there Kyoshi anyways, this is difficult for me, since i am older, i have played a handful of original games, but a lot of times i have touched the sequels before the original, but then there are situations where i touched an original game but never owned it. i played 3 LAN multiplayer matches of Halo:CE, but i hated it and never bought it, but then Halo 2 came out so i asked for an Xbox and that was my first Xbox game. Team Fortress 2, i never knew that Team Fortress even existed before then. Guildwars Factions, i never touched the base game of Guildwars, and to be honest, i've onyl put 8 hours into Factions before getting sick of it, but i have over 5,500 hours put into GW2. Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare, i like how i'm the only one here who played CoD4, i mean, i don't even see anyone listing CoD5:World At War as their first in the series either (oh wait, someone listed CoD3). which, i technically played CoD3 first at a friend's house, but i didn't like it enough to own it. Warcraft 3:The Frozen Throne, and i never cared to play the older games. Diablo 2, i never played the first one. The Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion, i tried going back to play Morrowind, but after 5 minutes i ended up hating the combat mechanics and graphics, so i quit. i also tried playing Daggerfall, but that is such a broken game that doesn't work if you want a special build. Fallout 3, people keep telling me to play the original 2 games but i just don't care enough, and i was told the mechanics were completely different back then so i'll pass. Dungeons & Dragons 3rd edition, okay, not a video game, but still a sequel ruleset to old school pen and paper D&D. Crysis 2, i never played the first one, but i was told this one was better anyway, and it was a computer benchmark test to see how well your GPU could perform, hehe. Far Cry 3, i actually technically never owned this game, but i played it a lot on my friend's computer that could run it. and finally, i don't think this counts, but i owned Borderlands 2, but i played the original also but it was my friend's copy and i never beat it, so i would say that is a partial point? lol
  10. i think the no singing in griffonstone might be a reference to the no-dancing allowed in the movie Footloose

  11. wow, i didn't realize this episode existed, i thought there wasn't a new episode 2 weeks ago, so the last one i watched was Hearthbreakers, but now since it's Saturday i went to look up the name for this week's episode and i saw the name 'The One Where Pinkie Knows' for Oct. 17th and i was like dumbfounded because i found no trace of that episode 2 weeks ago... but now that i noticed it and watched it, i realized that i am having a give and take with season 5, and oh, don't worry, this was one of the sweeter episodes for me. for an episode with Pinkie Pie in it, this was one of the better representations of her in season 5, though this new writer G.M. Berrow had done a fairly decent job for her first episode working on the show. while this was not quite one of my favorite episodes, and it started off a bit iffy and highly contrived, as if everything was obviously bending to shape itself to fit the premise of the episode. despite this forced plot development, there was a lot of fun and interesting moments that took this story that started off painfully predictable, and added some flair and slight twists, that were just "Pinkie" enough where it was silly and weird and fun, but not too much like a trainwreck as an episode like Party Pooped. also, unlike Party Pooped, where the "comedy" was almost all completely dumb and pointless, and though i didn't think the comedy in this episode was the best, it was at least much more amusing without being too annoying or insane. the plot treaded and gained a decent momentum though, and it had fairly good cues and climaxes, though some situations were forced and "convenient", like the constant testing of Pinkie's resolve in blatantly obvious ways, and Shining Armor's "save" entrance was "perfect timing" yet, it was in fact perfect and considering the drama buildup, this was a good release point, so no fault in that at all, but many could easily say it was "convenient" nonetheless. i like how they put time into the details though, even though not every member of the mane six had much of a dialog or purpose, we at least got some development for Shining Armor, not much, but a little, and that's more than you could hope considering this is done by a new writer. i could assume Meghan as editor probably bounced some ideas to the writer to use also, since Meghan probably guards the show's bible closely. in conclusion, this is one of my more favored episodes, not a favorite, but it definitely has some rewatch value and considering it's a new staff writer who did this, it turned out fairly well.
  12. so apparently there was an episode 2 weeks ago but i only found out about it now...

  13. ah okays, thanks for explaining batbrony ~hug~ have a good day mate
  14. wait, where? i missed it. but anyway, my 2 cents about this episode, and though i wasn't really keen on it, i won't go on some epic rant, even though Nick Confalone wrote this episode (grrr!). now considering i'm not a big fan of either Christmas nor Applejack, this episode was "okay". it was painfully obvious what the moral premise was even before it was starting to develop in the plot, i saw it coming a mile away, and this isn't the first time a plot has been predictable in the show, but this really just screamed "respecting each other's traditions" in the first 7 minutes. i can't find in me to outright complain about a moral premise within an aesop driven series, but i will state i was not overtly fond of this premise, nor theme, nor Applejack, but... despite my reservations, there were things that made up for it, so i wasn't completely bored or upset that we have a christmas episode a week before Halloween. rock soup... completely dumb, but somehow believable, and to be honest, if Nick wouldn't have thought of it, we all know Larson would have done something similar. shipping Marble Pie and Big Mac... you know... this is the first time, you know, aside from the donkey wedding, that two characters of the opposite sex have shown any vague interest in each other (Blueblood doesn't count, he loves himself too much). and for those who want to jump on Simple Ways, yeah, that wasn't a receptive situation but it actually looked like Marble and Mac had a two-way crush going on, and that is surprising. i doubt it'll go anywhere though, and i'm not even sure the higher ups realize what Nick has done, but then again, Meghan was editor, and she wanted to ship Twi with Flash in the EqG movies, so for all we know, this Marble Mac was Meghan's idea, and i think people can get on board with that ship, i'd vouch for it, i mean, we have tons and tons and plenty and plenty of lesbian fanfics and ships, it's about time that at least 1 in a thousand ships are a hetero couple, nothing against the gays or anything, but it's overwhelmingly off-balanced here in the fandom, to the point where straight couples are the minority, so every once in awhile it's nice to see something fresh, and what could be more taboo and edgy, but a hetero relationship? yeah, you heard me, hetero is so rare in this fandom, it's super taboo and edgy, bro! i rep team MarbleMac, and i will ride this ship til it sinks or gets boarded by pirates! moving on... as convoluted and strange as Pinkie's traditions are, they do sound more fun than AJ's family traditions. now i don't think you should hide presents in impossible places, but the idea of a scavenger hunt sounds like that could be fun. also, Maud is awesome in this episode, not quite as spotlit as in her introduction episode, but still pretty priceless . i think it's these perks that balance out the episode for me, so the mundane aspects even out with the fun and curious aspects. overall, i can safely say this episode was a lot better than Party Pooped (congratulations, Nick Confalone, i hate you slightly less, but even so, please leave the write staff of this show).
  15. seriously, why does 4DE take forever to fulfill orders? over 4 months now and it's still "processing"

  16. i love how people who grew up listening to 90s EDM like to judge dubstep and electro as nothing but noise :P

i heard that Garage Band actually comes with some VSTis xD Reaper comes with a single stock synth, that's it... i have to hunt down VSTis, ugh... not only that, but apparently some VSTis don't let you use a computer keyboard to play notes :/

Awesome! :D I've made some random songs too. Well, more poorly mastered amateur experimental noise, but still I'm a beginner xD

  19. for those old enough to get the reference, i think Sookie from Gilmore Girls is Pinkie Pie.

  20. i think Lauren Faust would love this episode. even though Amy Rogers was the person who made Firefly a distant past character (in Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3), which i'm sure Lauren wouldn't be happy about if she still worked on the show. despite that, i think Lauren would approve of a lot of Amy Rogers episodes, this one especially. the way it hinted at AJ's parents not being around anymore, it's like how Lauren wanted a plot explaining that her parents were dead, and while this episode is still open ended on that subject, it's still a decent hint in that direction and i believe Lauren would like to know that one of her concepts was at least hinted at. i don't typically like musicals, but i thought the songs in this were well done and tolerable to listen to (especially compared to Magical Mystery Cure) IMO. unfortunately, i kinda felt the pace of the story was a tad bit fast, there are major climaxes in this episode that felt like they could have used twice the time to feel a bit more natural. it was still good, but it kinda seemed a bit cheesy. i otherwise don't have many complaints about this episode other than pacing and cheesiness, this is definitely one of Amy's best episodes. i think the cutiemarks the CMC got were a clever design; there is almost a duality to them, and i think it's because they are so talented, their cutiemarks sort of have double meaning to them. i think if we saw more multitalented characters, they might also have more complex cutiemarks as well. so yeah, good episode, not my favorite, but it's pretty solid and covers good points and character development.
  21. people who know me on here know me for my 7-14 paragraph rants on episodes i either hated or have serious issues with, so then how long are my posts when i love an episode though? well, much shorter at least, lol. 5/5, best episode in the entire series. Dave Polski redeemed himself in my eyes since i was upset with Appleloosa's Most Wanted, this episode not only makes up for that sin, but it obliterates any nitpick i had of him in the past too. male characters in MLP were constantly 2 bit, 1 dimensional characters, but Big Mac finally proves that the writers are not just going to keep making male characters punching bags and male stereotypical jokes. i am rarely surprised by anything that happens in this show, but this episode took me by storm, it rocked my mind and my heart, i nearly had watery eyes, it was paced so well, everything was just awesome. it was funny, it had good movement, direction, writing, everything just awesome. i personally found Mac both sweet and caring, and also funny and heroic, but not funny because he was silly for being in "drag", though that was amusing because i never expected it from him, but he normally only says "eeyup" or "nnnope", so him talking all like that was hilarious. i personally also like to cross dress, mostly in private, or with friends, i don't identify as trans, i just always had this as a secret hobby since i was young, it's fun and stuff; so to see this sort of thing in a modern cartoon, is kinda rare at this point. sure, old school cartoons had cross dressing all the time, like Bugs Bunny (hence, Dave Polski was perfect for this episode), but not many modern cartoons touch base on this, at least not kids cartoons. okay, i know i promised a short review, but i guess i was so passionate about this, i couldn't hold back, hehe. it's also my new favorite episode, so that is special to babble about for me cheers to Big Mac and his awesome episode
  22. Brotherhooves Social just became my favorite episode of MLP
