  1. I ended up on a page about the different creatures from Finnish mythology, and, I saw a snippet of information that, while quite dark, feels very Finnish.

So there's this thing "Surma" (translates to Killing/death) who is basically the mythology's version of the grim reaper, and there's a little poems about it, a poems, to summon it, to summon it to kill someone you don't like.

Not gonna put them all here, but two of them i'll translate here. Also, what I find funny is, that in some of the poems, it is stated that if Surma comes like asked, the speaker will make them socks and winter gloves :P Aren't we nice, cursing people to death, and when the death comes, we give it clothing so that it doesn't get cold on its way back :P

    Spoiler

Translations are far from perfect since I'm doing them myself, and English and Finnish don't go one to one.

    "Tule, surma, suota myöten,
    tauti, talven tietä myöten,
    tapa lapset lattialle,
    koiranpennut penkin alle!"

    Come, Death, through the swamp
    disease, up the winter's road,
kill the children on the floor,
    puppies under the bench.

    -----

    "Tuoppas surma suota myöten,
    Tapa kaik tää talon väki,
    Tapa appi ahokselle,
    Anoppi saunan lautasille,
    Käly kylän kynnykselle,
    Tapa nato naapurihin,
    Tapa lapset lattialle,
    Vanha ukko uunin päälle."

    Bring death through the swamp,
    Kill everyone in this house
kill the father-in-law on the fields
    Mother-in-law on Sauna's benches,
Sister-in-law on the village's doorstep (Kylä can also mean somewhere you are visiting in, no clue which is meant here)
kill sister-in-law at the neighbors (apparently both käly and nato mean sister-in-law, TIL)
Kill the children on the floor
Old man on top of the oven.

Honestly, we were lot more creative in the past, now we just tell each other to F-off :P Imagine pissing off your neighbor and you hear them singing poems to summon the grim reaper :D that's lot more threatening than a middle finger and an insult.
