I'm not superstitious, but it has to be a sign of something that 2 minutes into the new year, a daycare (the only daycare of the affected area) burned down  On more positive note, last day the last year, I got a phone call about a longer work gig that just happens to be a walking distance from my home; that starts tomorrow, the first work-day of the year.

And since timezones are a thing, for information sake, the year changed 11 hours ago for me.
