Breathing and surviving, so good I guess. Playing Ultrakill and struggling to find right mood for drawing
One would think that having a break from working would have helped with that, but I made one drawing and started another, before the mood just went away. I want to draw, but at the same time don't,Tiring workweek coming next week, will be offline for several days in a row, as there's no chance I'll be coming on PC after 12 h days
That kitty is my boy
in the picture, he had just sensed my noodles-tuna meal

It's interesting how different kinds of difficulty in games has a different type of feeling. I've been playing the Wolfenstein series (the modern ones) and any time i'm "stuck" in a level, I start quickly getting frustrated and annoyed at the game, meanwhile, in Ultrakill, I was stuck in one boss for half an hour and it took couple of restarts
Spoilerbut every time I felt just more motivated to try again, in fact, I even laughed few times because it was more funny than annoying.
I can't really put my finger on it why exactly that is, but it's very notable.

I've played like one of those once
I own the old star wars games in steam, but never got to playing them.
The thing with my Ultrakill experience, is that I play on Standard difficulty, aka the medium difficulty of the game, there's 3 difficulties above it "Violent" "Brutal" and "Ultrakill must die" (note: the last one isn't in the game yet, as the game isn't complete yet) And I'm still getting my butt beatenQuoteOrder 66 restarts
Makes sense, since you play a robot made by humans killing what humans become in hell (and demons, other robots and the archangel Gabriel)
so you could say I order 66ed him
(him being Gabriel, who is also the boss that keeps destroying me, the first of his boss battles taking me 36 restarts and the second being the one with 66) I can only dread how many tries his third battle will take when it eventually comes out

I am feeling a little sick, myself! I hope you feel better soon.

As I found myself doom-scrolling instead of going to bed like I should, I was once again reminded of this masterpiece
SpoilerEven after all these years, it is one of the few things that manages to make me emotional every time I return to it, be it for different reasons nowadays. It has been long enough, that my connection to MLP characters has faded, but this video is the ultimate show of this community's passion, and has lot of memories attached to it for me.
This year is the 10th year since I found the silly horse show, I am 26, that is a huge portion of my life, and the show, the fandom and these forums have undeniably been a notable influence on me as a person, they restarted my dead passion for art and they are one of the main reasons why and how I learned English, and without these things I would no doubt be a different, lot more miserable person.
And I am not planning to go anywhere, as far as it is in my control that is, we live in complicated times, darkness is spreading on this little dirt ball of ours, so now if ever, it is important to sit down and enjoy the beauty we do have, for sparks of light are always more visible in darkness.
-
Another good showcase is Moon Raising, though it's a shame that the original has been lost due to the creator removing their channel.
And generally, even though the fandom has slowed down a lot, the art side is still going at full speed, as lot of places still get a steady stream of pony art of many kinds.

And that's officially the first time I have been target of an attempted scam
The classic Discord commission scam. I felt the conversation felt bit..bot-like, as they ignored a response and only had generic answers, and the "logged-off" the instant I said no. Too bad for them, I'm poor and draw my own stuff

To this day this image always managed to make me giggle every time I look at it

People who have interacted with me here for a while may remember that this is not the first time I post a song from this band, I've listened to their every song, but it has been a while since one of them has hit me like this one. Though for those not familiar with the artist, a bit of a warning, as this is not a happy nor cheerful song.
-
@Snow
Burden is a fine song too, in fact, in my opinion all of their songs are good, the only song that I never really listen is "Good enough for God".I believe the first song I heard from them was "would anyone care".
For me, I've been as good as one can be in situation like this, life hasn't been kind lately, but eh, it is what it is
Hope you doing well too

I borrowed some books from library to read about Finnish mythology and such, and the book I started with is a book from 2003, which is a translation of a Swedish book from 1789, and it's...bizarre to read. It uses modern Finnish, (besides certain words) but it is written in very old-school way. It's weird
edit-
Like, I read a sentence, I understand every single word, but I have no idea what it means -

Like, I read a sentence, I understand every single word, but I have no idea what it means-
So the book is basically a dictionary for mythological stuff, but, it's very bad at being that. There's part for someone called Aates, and under that it says they were a saint; and then there's a page long explanation on how Aates's daughter married someone who was someone's daughter's son; and then entirely new person got mansions from one of the previously mentioned names and it just goes on!!!
There's 11 new names under "Aates" and the only thing mentioned about Aates itself is that they are a saint
What does any of this have to do with the word? The word is mentioned once in the entire story
I don't even know what gender they are, because Finnish doesn't have gendered pronouns, and it's not mentioned once

Things have truly changed, back in the day when I was more active here, I got 30 notifications a day, most of those were brohoofs, most of the rest were status updates from people.
Today, after being offline for 9 days (wasn't home, will respond to RPs this weekend in case either of you two happen to read this), I had...14 notificationsApparently we now have AI section here?

And here as the first one in the character drop is Flint
https://mlpforums.com/blogs/entry/27055-flint-oc/
Who is actually an older character, and doesn't have any new art, so you've seen both pictures already. I've been staring at the first picture i made of her and don't like it, i actually hate it; I need to redraw her some day, as there's also few details changed about her character that make the first picture inaccurate. The story is bit edgy but eh, what can you do, when i first created her, the whole point was that she was first character that had just genuinely lost her mind, I wanted to explore what a character like that would be like, and I kinda still enjoy her,
The reason why I made the story for her now is because the context is needed for the new characters.

Third the charm
https://mlpforums.com/blogs/entry/27057-tara-alicia/
Tara and Alicia
And this really is the charm, the story is kinda meh, I'm not a writer after all, but I love the two, i'm happy with them in pretty much every way. These are the two that i posted about when I said "Help, I keep getting momentary crushes"Once again the specific part of anatomy caused me some trouble, but I managed to go around the problem because these two are actually wearing clothes
how scandalous. The shoes (high heels) are whatever and the leg anatomy is what it is, but i'm happy with it.

Because I don't want to spam status updates, here's the second
https://mlpforums.com/blogs/entry/27056-nux-nax/
Nux and Nax
Not fully satisfied with them, in any aspect, kinda just made the names up, and the story, the designs are also far from my favorite. On the Drawing itself, it's kinda funny how few lines can be so hard to get right, I really struggled with the certain part of the anatomy with these ones, sure this is literally the second time I tried doing something like that, but still.
Weirdly enough, these two also sent me to a deep personal philosophical rabbit hole of thought about bodies and the surprisingly thin line between what is considered perfectly safe and what is nsfw.

I've stumbled upon the various discussions about AI generative art, and to get the surface stuff out of the way; my opinion, I don't really care, it's here to stay, boo hoo, life goes on.
What I want to focus on is the discussion in the circles of artists, because as artist myself, there seems to be a lot bigger problem, that being the monetization of art. It seems that every time, the argument boils down to money, and what the bigger problem to me is that it is always talked about like money is the only thing that matters, the reason to make art. As if not making money is reason to just stop creating.
I have tried AI, I have an image generator on my PC, but I have not used it for a good while, and have no want to use it, why? because i'm an artist. I used it, it was kinda cool how things just appeared in front of me, but the novelty wore off, it became dull, boring; it wasn't satisfying. So I went back to drawing.
With AI, I can make several, photo-realistic pictures of almost anything I want in few hours, but instead i always go back to krita, take out my drawing table, and use days, even weeks to draw yet another, flat-styled drawing of a character with weird anatomy, bad hands and awful feet, why? Because I don't draw for money or fame, I have never, and likely will never sell anything I create; and there's like 2 people who as much as acknowledge my posts; Hi you two
, I draw, because I like drawing, I like creating, coming up with characters, and I post it, because to me, if even one person sees it and gets inspired, like I have gotten inspired from so many pictures others have made, human or AI, I've succeeded.
It doesn't matter if AI takes over, Art isn't going anywhere, because creative people create for sake of creating, and if you only create for money or for numbers on your screen, walk to a mirror, reconsider your priorities in life, and take a walk in nature; Life sucks, Earth is a hellhole, Humanity is awful, so enjoy creativity, the one thing nobody can take away from you;except you yourself.
-
I'd actually argue that it is more important now than ever to hold on that passion than ever before, corporations will use AI, they will fill the markets with generated, soulless garbage , and only through creative people with the passion to create, will humanity's soul survive. Times like these are not the times to give up, but the times to keep going out of spite; in the time of gray-cube buildings, white rooms, minimalist logos and other generic, soulless corporate efficiency, non-profit-focused creativity is an act of rebellion....
I need to stop thinking about these things at night
