Why is it that everyone used to hate Sombra at his debut, now he's absolutely worshiped and such? >.>

Even at his debut, he seemed more divisive than universally hated; some hated him for his limited dialogue and screentime, while others nevertheless liked him for his unique competence and threat.
I guess it was FIENDship Is Magic and The Cutie Re-Mark that dissolved most of the hate, while Siege Of The Crystal Empire was unfortunately another divisive shtick (that's one text wall I'm too lazy to go into right now).

The thing about Sombra is this; his episode followed Canterlot Wedding, and Chrysalis sure as heck made quite the debut. Sombra is SUCH a different type of villain that he was viewed as boring and non-involved, compared to Chryssy who was loud and in your face. I'll admit, Chrysalis had me while I was disappointed in Sombra.
It wasn't until later that I realized the type of villain Sombra was; especially when the comparisons to Sauron started to make sense. As such, he's my favorite from MLP overall, and been that way for quite a few years. :3
