I think maybe the legacy of Equestria Girls will be Rainbow Rocks and that first season of the show, specials included, and everything else will be considered secondary. There's good stuff in Friendship Games and season 2 but even they don't come close to those high points, and the rest is various degrees of not good. 

Plus, I feel fairly comfortable about preferring Starlight Glimmer to Sunset Shimmer. At least the former is a somewhat developed character rather than a mere promising blueprint, even if she's probably my least favourite character in the main cast. I do hope we get some good sketchy Starlight moments this season...
