      The other problem with this is; how much of an effect would this have? Syria is getting really mental right now.

      Well, Considering that Syria issue has nothing to do with out diet I would wager it would have no effect whatsoever. Wouldn't it be better to formulate a independent group to actually go to Syria and supply relief and aid, I'd imagine a guy as powerful as a pope could in theory do that.
