  1. I disagree with this statement. In Cutie Mark Chronicles we see AJ leave the farm and gaining her cutie mark, and she is leaving behind Big Mac who already had his and baby Applebloom. Given that newborns and very young foals look alike, we can assume that she was leaving her home within a year or two of her parents death. She then recieves her cutie mark and has also stated that she was the last in her class (age group) to get her cutie mark. Applebloom is fully aware of her surroundings as a blank flank and can piece together and remember many things. To say that Applejack and Big Mac had little to no bonding time with their parents (grandparents are one step removed from that bonding experience) is asinine. I understand that for all three of them, the history of their parents is something they may not know, bur I feel that the episode could have been a lot more sentimental had it been a sort of flashback episode with the Apple family interacting with them. It would have been a lot more meaningful to have gotten interactions between the cast that the show focuses on. Instead, as I said before, we are given a story that's been done to death and creates inconsistencies with the Cakes and Applejacks interactions. As for not knowing about their parents past, a lot of parents don't talk to their kids about what they've done or something like how they got together because it doesn't really come up with most children.
  2. It would have been really nice to get to know anything about how Pear and Bright interacted with their family, but the writers decided to go for the easy way out when it came to the Apple parents. They focused on their life pre-family so instead of having meaningful memories that show how the characters we know were influenced by their parents a made who they are today, we're given a lame romeo and juliet-esque story that adds nothing to the characters that influence the world directly.
  3. Back in mid-2011, I was linked to a series on youtube that was just a reading of various posts on TVTropes forums. I ended up watching through/listening to most of them while playing games and they had a few on cloppers. They made me laugh and it went to the back of my mind not knowing about mlp or the rabid fanbase at the time. A few weeks later, I saw a pony somewhere on the internet and a reference to bronies and after searching found out about the show. Again, I put it to the back of my mind and all but forgot about it until a week or so later. Going to bed, I turned on the TV to watch something to help me fall asleep. While looking at the guide from my cable provider, I noticed MLP:FiM coming on. I turned it on curious as to what drew so many people into it. After watching Fall Weather Friends, I hadn't dismissed it because they were able to write a story that didn't fit the typical little girls cartoon. I watched the next episode, Suited for Success, and instantly fell in love with the show and enjoyed the message they portrayed in that episode. I set my computer to download the entire first season and after sleeping, marathoned the entire season in 1 sitting. Looking up info on the show wanting more, I was treated to info that season 2 was set to air in about a month. I went on a spree of eating up all of the most popular/infamous fanfiction that the fandom had to offer at the time waiting for season 2.
  4. I won't argue with the logic begind the school, but I do believe the schoo and the table have lead to lazy writing in general. Originally we were given reasons that fit with characters personalities (most of the time) as to why they should be somewhere within the given plot of the episode. With the introduction of both the table and the school, we have that taken away. The table shook a pony's vut to tell them it was time, and the principal will do the same at the school. Both allow a little bit of freedom in terms of how things are done when the ponies asked to be part of the story, but they're still forced into the story and it makes it feel a little less realistic and natural. On top of that, there are quiet of few of the main 6 who should be unable to spare much time for something like this. AJ: Has her farm to run and was shown in episodes like Applebuck Season that a lot of the time it takes a lot of her time. Dash: Works for the weatherponies and also does Wonderbolt stuff on the side. Top Bolt showed us that she was buisy all the time and had little downtime to herself. That doesn't even include personal practice on the side. Rarity: Multiple buisnesses and many clients who look to her to constantly create. There have been many times where we've been shown that she is forced to do things like all-nighters to finish requests, meaning little free time. The other three do have their own personal lives, but they can integrate their interests pretty easily within the school (unless the Cakes rwally need Pinkie's help) and I could see them working alright in the setting.
  5. Simple and easy. Cut out the first half of Magical Mystery Cure and you have my answer. It's obvious that since season 1 (and I guess till the end of season 3) this was the main focus of the show and ut would have felt wrapped up had this been the actual end of the show. I don't think that she was ready for her ascension at the end of season 3, but I do think it should have been the conclusion of the show. As for with the current storyline, I don't think there would be a way for me to feel satisfied because there is no overaeching plot to the show for it to complete anymore. There will be no big payoff in the end and season 3 would have left the 3 main characters who have well-defined goals (Rarity, Dash, and Twilight) completed or well on their way towards them.
  6. So if we're going with hetero pairings, I like the idea of Quibble, but I can't really justify it past the fact that they both like Daring Do and can be stubborn. My real ship would be TwiDash though. It comes down to the fact that while they don't share much in common in interests, they share a lot personality-wise that would help play the relationship to be a bit deeper. Both of them have a drive to be the best at what they do (Dash flying and Twilight research), both have a very hard work ethic when it comes to what they enjoy, both can get lost in their interest to the poiblnt of ignoring everything around them, they both are natural leaders and pretty open to saying whats on their minds. On top of that, there is a lot of fun in having your partner show you something new.
