Today is my brother's birthday.

I couldn't really get him a gift due to not actually knowing what he would want. So I improvised and found the largest cardboard box that I could find and put a £10 note inside. I also got him a card that I've signed "From all the lads on the Ark Royal" which is a reference to a comedy sitcom from the 90's we both like called Bottom.

Last year's birthday gift I gave him was in the form of a tribute to Alan Partridge. A DVD of west country stand-up comedian, Jethro signed by Bono from U2. You would have to have watched Alan Partridge to know that reference. It's very rare that I get him to laugh like that.

I may not really have anything in common with my brother, but we do have the same appreciation for comedy sitcoms.
