@StrawberryMilk Simp That's not what I meant, I use an adblocker so that's not a problem for me. I think something was wrong with YouTube yesterday. It just stopped downloading the data at random points and I had to refresh the page to continue watching.

Yeah, it's weird. Apparently Twitter is rebranding and its features will be expanded.
It's not like I've been using Twitter anyway (there are way too many people who shouldn't be allowed to have access to internet there lol), but it's still weird and kinda a shame. Tbh I did expect such things to happen sooner or later, given Twitter was sold after all.

I've read something about it becoming a super-platform of some sort, where users will be able to upload long videos, stream, listen to podcasts, shop and all that stuff. Sounds kinda weird, but Facebook also offers shopping and the like, but I wouldn't dare to buy anything from there lol.
Welp, RIP Twitter.

@Samurai Equine I heard some YouTube creators use such things to prevent the video from being marked as "for kids"...

I suppose that's possible. I like how YouTube animator doubleWbrothers does it. The curse word is saved for after the animation is finished, and there is even a warning countdown before it happens. It feels weird to hear random adult language tacked on to the end of the song, and it's mixed in with the music so it can't be edited out easily.

Apparently somebody doesn't know how to flush the toilet
It might be just for lols too... But yeah, I've seen creators fighting with having videos automatically marked as for kids by literally putting curse words somewhere in the middle. The best part is, that sometimes these videos were still marked as for kids, even though they had totally audible F word with subtitles somewhere in the middle of the video.
After all this time youtube kids still being as obnoxious and flawed is mind-blowing.

I noticed that Discord was slowing down my laptop (which is already pretty slow) that I have with me on vacation. So I decided to use Discord in the browser instead.

@Samurai Equine It is pretty low on this laptop, but I'm not sure if it's the source of the problem. I suppose it's just the CPU and RAM, the laptop has very low specs in this regard and it seems it just can't handle running the browser and the Discord app at the same time.

All those things should probably be looked at. If you have an older OS, that can also be a factor. I don't know what to tell you other than have a computer specialist look at it and give you some solutions. Try to find a local business that does not charge you for looking at/diagnosing the problem, only for fixing it.
Sorry this is happening to you, my friend. I hope the problem gets fixed eventually.

@Samurai Equine It's not really a problem for me though, Discord in the browser runs fine. And I don't think anything can be done to improve the situation, it's just an old laptop with low system specs, so these things are to be expected.

I finished the first book in the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" series. It was quite enjoyable. What I didn't realize before reading it is that the author was British, and it contains a very British sense of humor (or humour, I should say).

@North Star They get the 'w(h)' part and the 'pool' part right, it's everything in-between that's pronounced wrong.
And yes, that ad is a good one, too bad that cellular network no longer exists (was taken over by T-Mobile).
@Samurai Equine It's confusing indeed, my favorite example are the words that have their negation pronounced differently, like famous/infamous or finite/infinite.

@Samurai Equinewell, there's not many silent 'H's' in English - the only time we have that is when we're deliberately using the French sounding word, I thought, like homage and prolly a few others. The reverse would be the French people using the hard H for helicopter and such I guess. I go for silent h homage when I'm saying "It's an homage" and the hard H when I'm saying "He gave homage".

"Infamous" isn't really the opposite of "famous", rather famous in a negative way. Though a lot of people just seem to use it to mean famous these days.
Besides "inflammable", I remember finding "valuable" and "invaluable" confusing – they sound like opposites, but they essentially mean the same. And "pricey" and "priceless" too.
