  1. @,Sounds good. You're in. The normal rules don't work in the Amblezon, so all magic (such as that that's in Lorec's sword) is going to be nerfed, but it'll still work to some extent. Also, the environment is pretty closed due to the simple amount of foliage and et cetera, so pegasi naturally have difficulty navigating through the air through the thick branches, and it just gets worse the farther up you get. A tall character like your minotaur might have difficulties navigating or fighting bare-knuckles in some places due to the constricted environment. These aren't criticisms, just something to take note of. There'll be places where Lorec sinks in mud or else has to hunch over so that he isn't taking branches and leaves to the face and upper chest.
  2. I sorta figured that would be the case. Let's see how it goes! The Jungle's natural magic typically resists Eve's efforts to manipulate the environment. Depends on what plant exactly it is she's trying to manipulate. Thanks for the big banner advertisement in your sig!
  3. Of course! As long as you can manage it. You're good! Accepted. Although, I would like to clarify about Silver Lung... Since nopony really knows what's at the Center of the Jungle, he can't really be guaranteed that money. Nopony's sure whether there's actually any treasure there or anything. Nopony's ever been to the Heart and came back to tell the tale. Is this a case of the gang's paying him when he gets back, if he gets back? Or is he hoping to find artifacts and treasure on the journey?
  4. Shh xD If you want to use Agririon, I don't see why you shouldn't. Establish the odd relationship between them a bit more firmly. This should chronologically come before tJtM, then? I'd kinda prefer flesh and blood, but nature spirits would be fine. They wouldn't really have much control over the environment here, if that would happen to be their thing. Just like in the Everfree Forest, the Amblezon doesn't seem to run by the normal rules. I might take you up on that co-DM offer. Let's see how this goes, first.
  5. Hey guys Probably not the wisest thing to do considering I have next to no time lately, but I'm rebooting one of my old Roleplays, one I'm pretty proud of and find myself referencing all the time, especially in this one. Join up if you wanna see why Eve's such a bada** in this RP. I've established her as having been on the adventure my reboot's gonna entail. http://mlpforums.com/topic/114845-heart-of-the-jungle-reboot-ooc/
  6. RP The Amblezon Jungle. Never has a pony ever set hoof in a more hostile landscape. How could the windigos of the Northern Expanse even hope to compare to the hinkypunks that feed on the despair of the wayward traveler? How could the mighty hydras of the Everfree Forest hope to be more fearsome than the mighty nundu, the fearsome maned leopard whose very breath reeks of death? How could the demons locked in Tartarus hope to inspire the same fear in ponies as do even the very trees that inhabit this jungle, collectively called the yateveo, which have been known to eat ponies alive and whole? With the swarms of flesh-eating, hive-minded gnats; kelpies that take every shape and form lurking in the waterways, and the mischievous erklings that sabotage the unwary, among other things, it can be easy to forget the natural beauties of the jungle due to the monstrosities that call the place their home. Legend has it that the jungle is such a deadly place for good reason. It has been said that the monsters and demons and shadows are not there by coincidence, but that they have been placed there to defend whatever lies at the heart of the jungle, a place never seen by anypony who lived to tell the tale. Until now. The best and brightest from all corners of Equestria have been selected to delve deeper into the Amblezon Jungle than anypony ever has in all of recorded history, to find the mythical Heart of the Jungle. And they will succeed, or die trying. You were lucky enough to be included among those few ponies included on the expedition into the Heart of the treacherous Amblezon Jungle, around which the most fantastical rumours fly. But don't let the fantastic tales of treasure at the heart distract you from the fact that, underneath the steaming jungle canopy, the lost ruins of ancient giants, sheltered isolated tribes, bloodthirsty predators, and screaming hordes of demon-worshiping apes await you. For the jungle is a living, breathing entity, and it’s always hungry... This RP starts with all the ponies gathering in the ancient coastal city of Timbucktu, in the Zebran Desert, from where they will take a ship to the Amblezon Jungle, and attempt to find its fabled heart. There will be many dangers along the way, and you must be prepared. Your pony must bring whatever weapons it needs to survive, as well as a good supply of water and food, a copy of the book Legends of the Jungle that will be provided, and will provide details on all known jungle predators, and whatever skills your pony has to offer that might increase chances of the group's survival. Remember, nopony's ever seen the center and lived to tell the tale... Rules: 1. No alicorns will be accepted. I will accept alicorn characters if they consent to be a unicorn or a pegasus instead. 2. Non-ponies will likely be accepted, as long as I don't have good reason to deny them. 3. Remember, this RP is just as much survival as it is adventure. If your OC is injured, it won't recover overnight, and if your OC dies, well, tough luck buddy. You're out. And the odds of us bumping into another one of your OCs, just because, are pretty low. 4. Please, please, please try to use proper grammar. 5. No Power Play. If you attempt to power play, I'll be forced to power play in response. So no controlling other people's OC's or the Jungle, in extension. That's up to me. 6. As I said, the Jungle is just as much an active character in this as your OC's are. If you attempt to control the Jungle, bad things will typically happen. 7. Romances are allowed, but keep it under control. The journey is a priority; I mean, it's only an incredibly deadly jungle. What's the worst that could happen if you take your guard down for ten seconds to give somepony a kiss? By extension of that logic, don't let any possible relationship get to the point where time skips are even necessary. So no NSFW content. 8. Try to keep references to other RPs to a minimum if you can. I know I'm a hypocrite. 9. The book Legends of the Jungle will be, in-RP, your chance to suggest what creatures might pop out of the jungle onto unsuspecting ponies. You can invent anything you want to take place within the pages of this book. The jungle will be under my direct control, and if I happen to like an entry that your OC reads out of the book, we might incorporate it later on. However, even if I do use a beast or creature you suggest through making up entries in the book, remember Rule 6. 10. Have fun! Sign-up Form: Name: Link: Species: Gender: Talent: Motivation: Weapons? 7. The sudden arrival of a very aggressive Agririon certainly startled Evergreen, especially as he started to bear down on Kazas, a scythe ready to sever the stem of the Blood Rose that was currently ensnaring the griffon. She started to approach where Kazas lay on the ground, calmly watching the figure who had followed Agririon to this scene. He was the spitting image of the griffon who was currently in her flower's loving embrace, but there was something... dark about him, lingering in the air about him. She stared right back at him, stony-faced, with the resolve drilled into her by her training. Her eyes met his, and not a trace of fear showed on her face. "I'm perfectly aware that it is not to me you will fall, like we both know you will in the end." Now standing next to where Kazas writhed in pain, she simply held a hoof up in his direction, indicating that he really should stop. "I wouldn't suggest you do that," she said to Agririon without even looking at him. "You'll interrupt the process and make the stem impossible to extract. And I'm afraid I simply can't allow you to interrupt this process. Although, Dark One, I believe you're right. I acted in anger, and now nopony can deny that Kazas has paid for his crimes, the deaths of Mason, my sister, and the burning of who knows how many towns and lives, tenfold." She placed a hoof on Kazas' side as he writhed on the ground, and the thorns in the vines that were inside of his skin withdrew, so they would do no more damage as the vines began to extract themselves from Kazas. The scent of the flowers shifted once again. The Blood Rose no longer smelt of death, but again of beauty. Perhaps it smelt of a more tragic sort of beauty than Evergreen's Star Rose, which smelled pure and whole, but that made the Blood Rose Kazas still clung to smell all the more beautiful. The magic of the rose once again began to have its normal effect of purifying beauty. "He shall suffer because of me no more. You see, Dark One, I know your story, but you do not know mine. I do not end lives. I tame them, and return them to the light." The vines continued to extract from Kazas back into the flower as she continued to speak. "Kazas will not be yours again, unless he chooses to be of his own free will. And why should he? He knows nothing but shame in your story." Her confidence in herself, and in Kazas' newfound freedom (assuming Eve had actually achieved that for him, which she was certain she had) was absolute. She arrogantly looked up at the demigod. almost challengingly. "In fact, you're little more than a slave yourself, to Avaerus. Would you have me free-" It was at this moment that Mason began to mess everything up, interrupting her discourse. Evergreen flinched, distracted, when his voice sounded, looking wildly back at his still crushed body. She had plenty of experience with the extraordinary, but usually ponies who were dead or injured remained dead or injured, and didn't start speaking all paranormally. She took a hasty step back from Kazas, now staring at the tendrils that were entering his body and tangling with the vines of the Blood Rose, which had yet to extract itself completely from his body. Plants could only move so fast.
  8. I apologize for my lack of a post thus far. I've really been on the go lately. I'll go get on top of that
  9. Evergreen flinched a little at the sound of splattering blood, but held her resolve. Nodding at Indicus, she continued out one of the other doors in the room the assassinated guard had been in. Light had been streaming from under the door. Much to her disappointment, it was just another room, with light pouring in through a window. She was too busy staring at the sky outside to really notice the rest of this particular room. Mesmerizing.
  10. My bad, I got it mixed up with the city in Norway. I've been playing a lot of Europa Universalis IV lately. Bahaha, I finished the series like four years ago Like, I finished reading Inheritance the day it came out. The series was pretty great. There was a lot where it left some to be desired, like the ending, but I love how imaginative it was with the places Eragon and Saphira visited, and how it brought realist non-fantasy elements into a fantasy setting. You know, like politics and the gritty reality of war. I don't really remember why Eragon was so blatantly anti-magician at the end of the series :/
  11. Swallowing a few herbs, Evergreen continued to search feverishly through the boxes, and continued to do so for several minutes. Nothing, nothing, nothing, yada yada yada. Her rose wasn't anywhere. After about seven minutes of searching, she threw the last box she had been searching back down on the shelf she had claimed it from. "It's not here. Like I really expected it to be. Let's go." She sounded irritated, but back in possession of her mental faculties. Thank goodness for that satchel full of herbs. Even if some of them had been half eaten. Grasping the hilt of the dagger, as if prepared for anything, she poked her head out of the other entrance to the room, and upon noticing it was clear, beckoned Indicus through. There was one pirate sleeping in this room, a half-empty mug foaming on the table in front of him from where he sat snoring drunkly in a chair. This room was what Evergreen probably would have called a lounge had that term seemed a little more piratey. A fire sat sizzling out, a few dying embers being all that remained of it. A card game looked as though it had been hastily abandoned, as the drunk pony must have been, at the same table at which he sat. There were racks for weapons to be stored, but these were all empty. Eve wondered briefly what was going on that nopony was here before starting to continue tiptoing her way through the room. "Reckon we should just walk out the front door?" she asked Indicus softly, trying not to wake up the slumbering drunkard.
  12. Yeahh, even though their goals are one and the same right now xD Eve doesn't really know Agririon, and she knows of Kazas pretty well from what the others had been talking about. But what fun is it if they both know that? I think I might wait until we get a Kazas or a Zephrael post before having Eve do anything.
  13. Well, burning Ponyville. There's also the fact that Kazas has been beating up Samurai and Mason, and that his current bosses took her sisters life in the chaos around the stadium as she and Encore fled to the train. I established that Wintergreen came to watch when they got onto the train after I reemerged from my not being here, and that Winnie died in the aftermath of the chaos. That or she was mindwiped or something. @, What side is Agririon on? Technically speaking, I don't think there's anything specifically demonic about the Blood Rose, but I could totally play it up that way. The one currently attacking Kazas is a clone, so if you destroy it it's whatever. Eve has another one. There'll still be chunks of it buried inside him, laying dormant, though, if you manage to shatter it.
  14. Yeah, we're all good. Like I said, grumpy and stressed, didn't mean to lash out like I did. If snails is fine, I'm fine. Kazas will get to keep the rose, whether Eve ends up retracting it or not. I feel it's worth noting that Eve doesn't particularly revel in having to do this, but as far as she could tell her kindness ended up going overlooked. She's unsure of the condition Samurai's currently in and is pretty worried about him, for reasons I'm not gonna go too deeply into, and as far as she knows Mason is dead. I'd say she's aware that Kazas isn't quite himself right now, and is doing this for him rather than for revenge. Well, maybe there's a little revenge, but she knows that if she manages to reign him in, even if its by trapping him in pain, it stops him from hurting all the others, and gives her a chance to reason with him hopefully without being struck down like Samurai was. Like I said, the rose was definitely not originally intended to be a trap but actually as a gift, but circumstances dictate... She really regrets this. Anyway, it was really fun to write. The ick factor's gotta be up there, you can see the tendrils of stem wriggling under his skin and feathers, the occasional thorn puncturing the skin in reverse. Gross. Dun worry, she'll be able to rectify all of that damage with some herbal treatments, and even minimize the internal bleeding, if she manages to talk Kazas back around. ____________________________________________________________________________________ For future reference, Kazas' Crystaline Rose is now going to be referred to as the Blood Rose, while Eve's is still the Star Rose. Eve's is like a mauve, basically a regular rose just made out of crystal, while Kazas' crystal has been diluted by the color of his blood. Blood red petals and a brownish-red stem. They're both unique names for these flowers, as individual members of the species. The species is just a Crystalline Rose. I've referred to Eve's as a Sapphire Rose in recent updates. That was wrong. She wears the Star Rose, not a Sapphire Rose. Got the name mixed up. After all, I got the idea for the species from the whole Star Sapphire thing from Eragon. You know, Isidar Mithrim? The big sculpture in Farthen Dur? In the roof of Trondheim? And there are weirder plants in MLP, so yeah, it works. Gave the species of rose some unique magical properties as well, including the whole "mirrors emotion of wearer" thing because why not?
  15. I Ctrl+x'd that whole portion out. I could just put it back in, easily. Really, what it is is a counter-attack to Mason being smashed and half-buried. I might rephrase part of it to make that fact more obvious. Remember, he looks dead. I'd be more than happy to do something else instead, though. Maybe have her rush over to you and defend/try to revive Mason. It's back. And now I feel bad. Sorry dude. I've had a lot of pent up stress lately, didn't mean to take it out on you. Seriously, if you'd like me to edit the post it's fine. Look at it like this. Assuming Kazas doesn't use god-tier abilities to completely nullify what I'm doing right now, Mason will still be on equal footing with Kazas when he re-emerges. They'll both be wounded, at least.
  16. Sorry dude. I'm just being super-bleh right now. I'll rewrite the post in a way that works better than what I had. Although I want to keep that whole parasite thing in mind for future. Gotta keep you guys in mind too. After that I'd probably better get more of my work done. And maybe a nap. I hate this time of year, where finals are close enough for you to be able to taste.
  17. Maybe just a little bit of sarcasm. Sorry. I'm pretty grumpy today. I've got a lot of work and stress on my shoulders at the moment, and I guess it just kinda sucks to be told, "Hey, literally half of your post doesn't suit the designs I've got for this RP that you couldn't possibly have been aware of, plz get rid of it for me <3" when half that post is like 500 words long that I spent a quarter hour typing when I could have been getting some of my work done. Holy crap I'm being ranty. I need to start getting more sleep. How I picture you're seeing me right now...
  18. Far too broke at the moment. I won't even be able to get just one of the new Hoenn remakes. I'm gonna have to wait until christmas, or at least a paycheck, before I can even get one of those. And ORAS is priority. Besides, I already have Smash for 3DS. That's enough for right now.
  19. Sorry. I read that as mason being dead, or at least unable to fight momentarily. Also I've been gone half a week. Should I erase half that post, and have my OC act not in character so that it suits your whole one on one plan? Pretend she's not even there? Alright. Sounds like a good course of action preplotted out for me. I barely feel like I'm making a noticeable effect in this RP anyway. Silly me, thinking I can into relevance. @@Literally Snails, Sorry to inconvenience you. :okiedokielokie:
  20. ((My apologies. I've been very busy...)) Responding to the assaulting pegasi threat, Encore pulled out a large, heavy instrument that looked far too large to have ever fit inside his backpack. Putting it on around his shoulders, Encore took a deep breath, and, joining Snowstorm's chorus' refrain, started blasting away on his sousaphone, blasting out large, solidified music notes at the assaulting army, as well as adding an ominous bass ring to the air, shaking the very ground upon which they began to fight. The water began to ripple from the force of the sound waves, and up from among the rippling waves poked the wet head of Cascade Swirl. Utilizing her wings as scoops, she began to launch whirling discs of water at the assaulting army. Her first target was hit in the head, and while the water splashed and fell to the earth after impact, it hit the pegasus more than hard enough for his head to jerk backwards and snap. It almost came clean off. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ @, Rag and Tag sprinted for cover, skidding to a halt among Samurai, Oni and Lorec. Evergreen, however, stayed put, looking up at Kazas. What kind of power did he have to create flames that could penetrate this otherworldly mist that still hung about the scene, and more impressive than that, banish them entirely? Rag and Tag watched Eve from their group, in great concern. She watched Mason fall to the ground in horror, and directed her gaze back up at Kazas. He had taken her rose. And apparently it hadn't worked. The beast had not been calmed, and was killing again. It had struck down her friend, the one who had comforted and fought alongside her while Encore had not, and it had also apparently smote her most powerful ally. She doubted it was responsible for its actions, because she wasn't sure it was really Kazas anymore, but that didn't matter. It was time to punish it. Magically influencing the Crystalline Rose she had given to it, the thorns grew long, piercing Kazas' skin, burrowing painfully down, down, down, the stem taking root in the Kazas monster's flesh, splitting off, wriggling through Kazas's body like worms through the earth, while the scent emitting from the flower itself grew unnaturally foul. Unless she decided otherwise, Kazas would smell nothing less than the worst, most rotten scent imaginable for the rest of eternity. The rose's stem burrowed deeper into its flesh, searching for bone, for it to bind to. Once it reached bone, there would be no releasing the rose from Kazas, and it would forever cause him pain, a parasite leeching every sap of his strength that it could. The bonus of the same granting a floramancer control over his body once the Rose conquered the spine was just an added bonus. Perhaps she could use this pain and scent to tame it. Crystal Roses, such as Evergreen's Sapphire Rose and the clone that was currently burrowing into Kazas, have powerful magical properties. They cannot be burned or severed, and while they can be shattered, a rose can be regrown by any broken segment of stem, so long as that stem has access to food - which Kazas' body, full of flesh and bone, certainly provided. Even if broken away from food, crystaline roses were powerful containers for energy, and could store years' worth of energy if one so desired to invest energy into one. When shattered, the rose could easily survive and regrow, even in the most inhospitable environment, if it had energy invested into it. The rose began to change, the stem and flower becoming a deep blood red, as it began to absorb the same nutrients that currently powered Kazas. While the flowerbud represented Kazas' thoughts, the plant would never truly obey him or move for him the way it did for Evergreen. It was she that was lord of things that grow. Her magic that tamed the mighty, murderous flora of the Amblezon Jungle. And hopefully, the same magic that would tame this monster. Because now, Evergreen was convinced that Kazas was little more than that. -- As the Blood Rose's thorny tendrils continued to slink their way through, under Kazas's skin, Evergreen called to him. "I'm sorry!" She looked like she'd started to shed tears again, yet she continued to push the Blood Rose further, egging it on. "Stop hurting them! And this'll be over! Your gift will be back to normal again! You've gotta still be in there somewhere!" While she did intend to tame Kazas before he maimed any more of those she cared about, she still had to resent the need of this whole underhanded trick. It wasn't honorable. And she had intended that as a genuine gift. But she had to protect them all.
  21. Eve led the stranger, into a room that seemed to be a combination of dirty hallway and old musty storeroom. Dusty boxes on shelves were full of stuff that the pirates had taken from their prisoners and deemed worthless; rusty old keys that looked like they hadn't been used in years hung on hooks in the wall, and stinking piles of half-eaten pirate food lay hither and thither. Eve began to shuffle through some of the boxes, quietly. Within moments she found a dusty satchel she had, full of herbs. Some of the herbs looked like pirates had taken bites out of them, hoping they were edible, and upon finding otherwise they must have decided the satchel was worthless. Eve put it on. She'd have to sort out the eaten herbs and the ones that were too dusty later. She continued to search a little more frantically. She couldn't find her treasured crystal rose. It naturally wouldn't have been in these boxes anyway - it was far too valuable. But still she looked for it.
  22. I've failed to upgrade to the One yet, so I'm stuck playing Destiny on the 360. You could add me if you want, I guess. GamerTag's Farallon. I share my account with my roommate, since he doesn't have Live, so if I don't join or whatever it's probably because he's playing.
  23. Evergreen shouted something up at Kazas, but her quiet voice was barely audible through the torment, the fog and the sounds of distant battle. A look of pure frustration on her face, she looked around for help, and, recognizing the two earth ponies standing behind Lorec, Syuren and Mason, beckoned them over. Ragtag approached Eve, looking confused. A few short words were shared between the three, and then some more intense magicks were taking place between Evergreen and the earth pony twins. "My rose," Eve explained to them, while the twins' eyes strayed to the rose Eve wore behind an ear. The deep red, crystalline rose was quite possibly the most unique magical plant this pony of magic plants owned, if just because it was a living plant made of pure gemstone. "My Sapphire Rose has magical properties. It's unbreakable, and its scent is generally soothing, and its appearance shifts representative of the person holding it." "Yeah, yeah, we know, Evey, we only grew up together. We've been living next to you for how long?" "We know this, how is it relevant at all again?" Three more seconds whispered conversation, and a perfect copy of Evergreen's everpresent Sapphire Rose had been grown from a seed she'd placed in the ground. A little help from the twins, and it was raising up into the air, tied to a balloon with ribbon, directly to where Kazas hovered, a gift to soothe his tormented soul. ___________________ Cascade continued to swim upriver, and arrived at where Alrahm and Encore escorted the survivors towards the Everfree. She smiled at Alrahm, and at a very surprised looking Encore, flashing every glimmering tooth. "Thanks for waiting for me! Looks like the army's heading this way, doesn't it?" She seemed oddly cheerful about the approach of a possibly genocidal army. Then, her face fell, and she looked back towards Ponyville. A black speck of a figure could be seen descending into the ominous red fog she had left hovering over the city. She had a bad gut feeling, a dark premonition. "We need to get this lot away. Now." Cascade rarely ever sounded worried, but the one she sensed through extension, through the river and fog, was worth worrying over indeed. "They might need me back over there."
  24. I know that feel. Takes me so long to write up a post depending on who I'm posting as. XD
