I had my weapons and ammunition ready to go all I was waiting for was the rest of my squad I was told it may take a bit for some to show up and we may drop before they all get here, but I was ready.

Spartan James entered the drop room ready to go. His long-barreled rifle was strapped to his back, and his sidearm attached to his hip. All in all, he wasn't looking forward to his mission. Sure he made a decision that conflicted with the higher ups, but did he really deserve to be sent to this backwater corner of space. As he thought of the events that brought him here, James just sighed and sat down.

I looked at the Spartan that entered the drop bay, my visor identified him as James Hansen, here due to a failure in a assassination mission besides that he was good at what he did. He did not seem to like the assignment, neither did I but the UNSC decided I was the best guy to command a mix unit of Spartans, Elites, and ODST's so like any good dog I obeyed my orders.

Equinox sin entered the docking bay. The old pistol that he mostly used was strapped to his hip and a battle rifle strapped to his back. As he entered he saw James someone who was here for some reason and the commander. "So...what is this mission about exactly" Equinox asked

I looked at Equinox, "The UNSC found a new world, our mission is to play explorer and figure out whats in it. If we find Sapient life we are to contact the UNSC Ares, and set up talks and such while protecting them from any threats that arise, whether it is former Covenant Loyalists, Forerunner, themselves, or even Flood." I mentally shuddered at the mention of the parasitic life forms knowing the encounters I have had with them during the battle of the Arc.

"The Flood...yeah" Equinox said remembering someone who he had to kill because of the Flood. "Lets just hope the beings on the new planet are peaceful and don't try to kill us straight away....or we get a floating core that wants to destroy life"

"I have to agree there, but be prepared for anything. I just hope we can get this over and done with, then we can go back home and relax for awhile before out next assignment." I replied not wanting another war against some alien race, the human covedent war was bad enough.

Zaka Zamommie, usually called "Z" to save time, awoke later than usual that day. He sat up and began to remember that he had a drop misson today. He disliked the thought of dropping alongside others, but he knew he wasnt one to argue with the human leaders. He was already in his armor, and pulled on his helmet as he stepped into the docking bay. He didnt even glance at the spartans as he leaned against the wall next to the door. His carbine rifle was slung on his back, so he toyed around with one of his energy sword handles a bit, waitin for the drop.

I looked at the Elite standing across from us,I continued to wait, then a voice over intercom said, "One hour till drop repeate One hour till drop." I sighed, "Where the hell is the rest of them? Whatever they have only an hour to get here." I mumbled my external speakers off so nobody could hear me.

When the intercom said they only had an hour, Z put the handle back on his side. After a while of silence, he began arguing with the voices in his head rather loudly, but his helmet wasnt sound proof like his spartan comrads. This continued for about half an hour, and when the argument was over, he sat down where he stood, and held his head up in his hands.

I heard bits of the argument the Sangheili had with himself but could not make it out, so I ignored it and waited ready to drop, explore and record then get back to the Infinity and a conflict that mattered not some damn scientists curiosity quest.

Z looked at the spartans after a minute or so, and oened some records on his visor, getting to understand them a little more. "Anyone else not happy with this so called mission, or is it just us.....i mean, me." He said in perfect english. He began tweaking a few armor peices as he waited for a response from anyone.

"Your not alone with that feeling, we all could be put to better use elsewhere but the UNSC gave me orders like it or not I follow them, at least there is  a possibility of forerunner artifacts on the planet it seems they left plenty every where." I replied hoping this mission would end quickly.

Z perked up at the thought of discovering a new artifact, the feeling went away as he remembered that he changed positions invthe war after he was set up. "Thay can all rot for all i care. This war is such a waste at this point. I remember when we first made contact with you humans, we thought you were dumber than grunts, but you proved otherwise, and you have some of my respect for that." The other voices in him began to pipe up again, and he quickly silenced them.

"Thirty minutes till drop." The voice over the intercom said. I looked at the Sangheili and said, "I would love to let the war end but it seems when one enemy is destroyed another rises like the splinter group of those who still hated us humans and such not to mention the Didact that was reported as recently defeated by the Master Chief."

Z jumped a little at the thought of master chief. "You know, i once had the best shot a sniper could hope for on him, my finger had the trigger half pulled, then he turned and his visor was looking straight at me. I hesitated a moment, and he stood there and stared. I couldnt tell if he was actually looking at me or something in the distance, but i guess one of my spare voices took over, and i stood and walked away." He paused for breath. "I got ahold of my self, turned and looked down the scope, and he stood there, starin at me for sure. I dont know what was going through his head, but it wasnt my death." Z put his head back down and went silent again.

"Yeah and that Cora was lost in the process" Equinox said. "Now if we are done with reliving memories and stuff let's all get ready" Equinox said. "Besides...we already delt with monsters beore if we run into more we will have no problem at all" Equinox said

Z's mouth twisted into a snarl, the helmet he was wearing hiding it from any view, the reason he had kept it when he went off the grid and joined the humans. He stood and checked all of his gear twice, making sure it wasnt tampered with when he wasnt looking. When he had given everything a once over, he dragged a small chair from the other side of the room back to his corner, flipped it upside down, and set a chair right side up where the feet of the chair were touching each other. He climbed on top of them and crouched on the top chair, watching the other humans as they did their buisness.

Farehk Calsor'ee, or Calsor after the formal disbandment of the covenant by the hands of the Master Chief and the Arbiter, was thoroughly displeased by the human pilot's lack of discipline.

 

"We are late. The commander of this mission will not be pleased by this." He said to the pilot. The pelican lowered into the hangar and the back doors opened, allowing for him to jump out, his plasma repeater shuddering as he landed. He instantly caught sight of the other elite in the group, albeit standing high above them.

"Ah, Zamommie, my brother. it is good to see you. I was not informed of your participation in this mission, and the others are humans with their strange names... Any news on our objectives?"

I watched as we were minutes from being told to go in the pods to drop, I was annoyed at Eqiunox's quip but shrugged it off knowing that some still have not gotten use to our alliance with the Elites, I was personally glad that there were some Sangheili in the group they usually had some interesting conversations.

"Calsor," Z said to his former covenant comrad, "i wasn't expecting to see another fellow sangheli on this 'mission' either." He looked down at his throne of two chairs, and sighed. "What those voices make me do sometimes" he said as he jumped from them, knocking both of them over loudly. He took note of the time and began pacing, not wanting to wait any longer.

"I understand your frustration, brother. But redemption is not needed. Had you pulled the trigger we would all be dead now. Every single sentient being in the galaxy. I am eager for battle too, Zamommie." He said. He took out his energy sword from his hip and etched a tally mark in his forearm armour. One of many, each for a different battle that he went in.

Z glanced at the tally marks, not being one to want to remember how many battles he had partaken in, and changed the subject. "Are you still any good with those blades? I have practiced many a night since we last sparred on the last ship we were both on" he said, smiling at the old memory.

The intercoms, blared and the voice over them said ten minutes till drop, repeat ten minutes till drop. I heard this and was relived that this mission was close to start, I never liked it on the deck of a ship where I could not do anything but watch, I much preferred solid dirt under my boots.

"Ah, yes, the Shadow of Intent. Never before had I felt such a left hook. Though I did get you back with that-... Ten earth minutes..." A grave look came over his face. "Have they installed any Sangheili drop pods on these predated boxes of metal they pass as 'ships'?" He always trusted the humans when the war turned, however he had no faith in their technology. Ships, pods, weapons, anything. He trusted his own equipment and his race's technology.
