Hi guys. Pinkie Pie here with another film review from our good buddy, Mr. Critical. And today, I got a super duper awesometacular movie for us. But unfortunately, Critic doesn't have the first film to this sequel. So we had to do some research on it and from Critic told me, its not half bad. In fact, it was just as super duper awesometacular as this movie. Me and the girls loved watching How to Train your Dragon from start to finish. Especially Twilight. She really likes seeing how different human similarities to Equestria. But enough chit chat, lets talk get this review started.

The story follows a human Dragon rider named Hiccup, who is now older from the last movie from what Critical read. And I'm going to get this out of the way now; A dragon rider is mega super awesome. Ponies in Equestria are terrified of adult dragons and yet we have a human who has mastered riding them like some kind of four legged animal that gets people from place to place. I just wish I knew what you would call such a creature. Anyway, later on in the movie we learn of a character called Drago Bloodfist who is a really big meanie. Enslaving dragons and attacking innocent people to rule over them. That's just not very nice. Critical told me that I have to keep the spoiler to a minimum so I can't spoil it. Sorry guys. But, I can tell you guys this. As Hiccup and the other dragon riders travel along, they find these dragon hunters. And due to some events were Hiccup gives himself as a prisoner, Hiccup eventually meets his long lost mother. Now, the reason I can tell you guys this is because they already spoiled this in the trailer. So HA!

The animation is rather fantastic and is the stuff Critical only dreams of. He really loves animation. Anyway, the parts that stand out in the movie are most definitely the flying scenes. They are utterly beautiful and the 3D really enhances the experience. The other parts of the movie are drawn great as well. I dont even need Critical to tell you guys that the animation in the movie is rather amazing. The flying, the action, the movie is beautifully made.

The characters are interesting and a lot of fun. Though, it mostly focuses on Hiccup, his father and mother. Meaning that the other characters dont have much of a point other than that they were in the last movie. This one girl is apparently Hiccup's love interest and she, along with the other gang of dragon riders, go on a rescue mission to save Hiccup from the evil Drago Bloodfist but we all know that Hiccup is fine. The characters are then captured. Yeah, we all knew that this was coming. I dont really know what to say about the characters. I never saw the first film and never got to form a connection to them so I guess I'll have to skip it. Sorry guys.

As for bad stuff, there isnt that much to talk about besides the character's dopey choices and the plot holes Critical pointed out. Which, I was told was a flaw in the story and not the... well, the other thing. But they were easily ignored for a story about a young stallion's dillema of family, who he is and his destiny, combined with a rising force that would soon destroy his home. If the first movie was as good as this one was, I would really do have to check it out. Maybe I can get Critic to bring it to our next movie night at the bakery. As for my rating, I give this a solid and well deserved Pinkie Pie ribbon of recomendation. Its a ton of fun for foals and ponies everywhere, along for humans as well. Until our next review forums. See ya laters.

Can I just say, this movie was amazing in every shape and form, truly a great animated franchise. The first film I saw in 3D during its release in 2010 and fell in love with everything in it, this one OMG even better. Seeing Hiccup and his friends as young adults was very well done and animated, the story was great as was the music and seeing tons of new dragons we've never seen before. I loved the relationships between Hiccup and his dad and his mom. The villain was fantastic, truly terrifying and threatening, seeing Astrid and Hiccup together was adorable and Toothless trying to play with Cloudjumper, lol. Amazing movie and I cried during a lot of emotional scenes, it was quite dark for a animated movie. 10/10 stars!!
