Derpy just chilling on a cloud :3

Hai there everyone  :squee:

Oh gosh, this is great! If you follow me a little, you may know that I'm slowly changing from line-less to inking, which is so fun!

Dark outlines allows to make great contrasts between colors and make the whole drawing's shadows less awkward together, which isn't exactly how it works with my previous style, without lines I mean.

So, since I absolutely adore Derpy, I made a drawing of her in this new style! And it's also my second attempt at inking, so enjoy! ^.^

I love negative feedback, it allows me to improve on my previous mistakes, so if there's anything out of place, feel free to say it!

But I do enjoy positive feedback as well :3

The derping of the eyes needs to be increased.

Beyond that i like it  :)

Her eyes aren't derped enough, and she is 2cute4me.

That's all the critiques I got.

I prefer when Derpy has her ''Derp moments'' than being a proper characteristic to it's character, I actually never draw her with Derped eyes :P

Either way, I'm glad you find her cute!

Thanks! ^^ But like I said to Miaq, I personally prefer the un-derp version of Derpy :D

Other than the eye thing, I can't think of any improvements that would be necessary. I love your style, it seems very bright!

Sig made by Kyoshi.

Cool things people have said about me:

Never heard of him but I guess just you mentioning him is a good reason not to go anywhere near that name.

(In reference to an author I suggested.)

As said before, 2cute4me.

LOL.  I agree with the consensus that this Derpy needs more Derp in the eyes. :D

Awesome!

Welp, is seems like I will have to do a Derp version then! It's probably going to be a silly concept.

In any case, thanks guys! I'm so happy to know you like it! ^.^

Alright, if you really want to know....

Her cutie mark is backwards, I find the background a bit empty, and she doesn't have crossed eyes.

Other than that, I love it! Great job!

Oh gosh, it's adorable! Her pose and limbs look very relaxed and natural, and I love her little face. (Her eyes are plenty crossed enough. I don't think artists need to exaggerate that for every single picture. It looks fine here.)

You're drawing chops are obviously quite solid in this style, so my biggest critique for this piece would be about unifying the colour palette somewhat. At the moment, each colour is only found in one place. Her mane is yellow, and you've shaded it with orange. Her body is grey, and you've shaded it with darker grey. The sky is blue, and there's the tiniest bit of green tinge in the corner. You want to add elements of each colour into the other areas. Some blue and grey shadows in her hair, instead of orange. Some yellow highlights on her body, and a bluer tinge for shading. The cloud should have elements of each colour mixed in - clouds are great for that.

There's a fantastic tutorial by Purplekeckleon which will allow you to dip your toes into how colour theory works. Colours are the MOST fun element of art for me, and they can really bring a picture to life. http://stuff.veekun.com/pkcolor/

Also, google 'palette challenge'. This is a GREAT way to work with fantastic colours you may not have thought of otherwise.

Haha that is perfect X)

Her cutie mark is backward? Hmmm... I didn't really took in consideration the size of the bubbles when I drew then, so it's possible :3

And I'll give you that, the background is quite empty, but I usually put all the time on the pony itself. But yeah, it does need more scenery.

The crossed eyes thing is just a personal preference, I like her better that way. Thanks! ^^

For the cutie mark color, I had to make it slightly darker, other wise the saturation level was just too close to the shading and they would blend up together. Sorry about that!

Thanks for the feed back ^.^

would her other leg be slightly visable? that cloud looks thin enough that it would :P

If you look closely, her other leg is actually resting on the cloud behind her neck. I think I should have drawn that leg a little longer when I think about it. :3

I agree with you, I should have played with colors a little bit more. I focused mainly on the concept itself, but adding a few different colors would have made the whole drawing pop up a bit more.

You're the 3rd person that suggest me that tutorial, I really should finish it... 9_6

But I never heard about that palette challenge thing, it sounds fun! I'm gonna check that out.

Thanks my friend!
