What is Rainbow Power?

As seen in the shows and girls toy section, Rainbow Power is a super transformation. Though the designs were too much for ONE transformation, I'm not sure what it do that the Elements of Harmony couldn't do. Is Rainbow power just The Elements in the Mane Six, making them able to use it without the aid of the jewels? Are they some super harmony power? Why does having Rainbow power have a drastic (yet over bearing) transformation?

It's just them no longer needing the Elements of Harmony because now they are the Elements of Harmony now.

 

Think of it like how Goku 1st went Super Saiyjin God,but then later no longer needed to be in SSJG to have the same power as it was 'absorbed into his world' described by Bills.  Not the best example but ya,its similar to this as the mane 6 having 'absorbed' the elements into themselves,therefor no longer needing the jewels. Also the transformation is to sell toys,that is clear even tho i do actually like the designs for most of them.

Pretty much just this. Gives them the same powers as the elements of harmony, but with new ultra morphin' designs!

I think that the Rainbow Power, as much as I dislike the visual appearance, are what the Elements of Harmony should be (or even were). A magical manifestation of the the power of "Harmony" thought the friendship of the Mane Six. Does that make sense? The Elements came out of the Tree of Harmony, they were revealed by the "spark" when Twilight realized that those ponies were her friends, and the Elemts required their friendship to work.

 

After they were returned to the tree, it gave the girls it's power after they proved they earned this power... Or something like that.

 

I'm not sure if the Elements are inside the girls, but it seems like a good interpretation of what just happened. The change in their appearance is to show that they have somehow changed. Even if it's just when they reach and use this "power".

That is what I thought and I think it would be better to ease into this transformation by having smaller ones. It feels like it went to normal goku to SSJ4. Too much for one transformation and too much to take in.

Rainbow Power, is basically the form that the mane 6 take when the release their full potential power of the Elements of Harmony. Think of it as an ascended form like you would find in DBZ.
