Missed references

I mean, MLP:FiM is famous for its references, but did you ever had the feeling they missed a reference? Like, they came into a situation or something that you recogniced from somewhere else, waited for them to make a reference, and - nothing happened.

This happened to me in this scene:

As a huge fan of Percy Jackson, I just thought this after this scene: "How could you miss such a brilliant opportunity to make an epic reference?"

So, did you have such moments, too?

MMMystery on the Friendship Express is an episode that they could have made a better reference to a movie.

A Clockwork Orange.

They should have had Pinkie put Rarity's missing eyelash under her right eye.

I've never seen the movie but know of it from a Blur music video parodying it.

On a side note, BLur's lead singer Damon Albarn is also the singer in the Gorillaz and the song in THIS:

Rainbow Rocks... at least how it could've looked... in a stranger, more interesting dimension

For those who are wondering, Twilight is chewing bubble gum.

That video though. Seriously I am going to need to get my hands on a Flash program so I can have Pinkie rocking out to Mindless Self Indulgence or System of a down.
