Not groundbreaking insofar as what, though? Remember that Sailor Moon is responsible for revolutionizing the magical girl genre; so while it may seem rather dull and unoriginal by today's standards, it should be watched bearing this fact in mind.

Right, I've indeed kept that in mind, but even though I can recognize that it was one of the first of its kind it doesn't stop me from seeing through the clichés. I'll try to bear with them though, I'm honestly not hating it so far lol. I mean I definitely see its influence and all, so for that I commend it as well.

From what I've been reading, Crystal is going to be adding new content that was unable to be added into the manga due to page limitations and publishing times and such, so it should be interesting to see how that goes.

Some of the CG in Usagi's transformation is a bit shotty. I much prefer Ami-chans. I hope Rei's is better.

I admit, the CG will take some getting used to.  Fortunately, they only use it in the transformations.  But I do like that the overall animation for the sequences is relatively the same (CG aside), and the chorus singing in the background just gives everything a more epic feel.  It's like if Danny Elfman did the music for Sailor Moon.  It's all 'ooh's and 'aaah's.  Here.  Have a listen.

This track sold me on the show, and it plays seconds into the first episode.  It sets up the story perfectly, and gives Sailor Moon the epic feel it deserves, without anyone even saying a word during it.

 

 

Knowing what I know about the people working on this series, I wonder if they'll do something special for the group transformation.
