Pony Magic = longer life

I've got another theory to throw at you guys, what if that the more magic there is in a pony, the longer they'll live? This could explain many things, most notably Star Swirl the bearded (presumably) long life. It also could provide a way for the Non-alicorn mane 5 to live as long as Twilight, because I'm pretty sure that the rainbow powers are quite a lot of magic to have. Anyway, what do you guys think of my theory?

Well, they could just use magic to extend their lives. Like casting spells that slow aging/the decay of cells. So while magic may not just equal a longer life, if they are more powerful in magic, then they would be able to cast more powerful anti aging spells.

This seems very illogical, for one this would make it that the unicorn race would live longer than every other race due to them having much more magic contained.

Well considering age spells are actually a thing, I assume extremely high class Unicorns (I don't actually believe that Twilight was in the highest class of casters pre-Alicorn) could theoretically slow down the ageing process and live much longer.

Well, the royal sisters have lived forever. And they are supposedly the most powerful magical beings in Equestria (despite how often they get warf'ed). But that could just be because they are the super special snowflake sister ponies. And they are the only immortal/100k year living ponies.

 

 

But if the magic user is more powerful, then they would be able to cast better anti aging spells. So in a way, more magic=longer life.

Actually, well, as far as the show goes, one of the cast on Twitter or Facebook (McCarthy I believe) quite some time ago mentioned that Twilight would not outlive any of her friends, and she's a very strong unicorn. So, there's that.

Not nesseccarily they might just be smarter using their lives. They might be using their magic to have better or longer lives but i don't think that means anything else.

Earth ponies and pegasi also have magic, but unlike unicorns they can't use it to cast spells... (=> Twilight's Kingdom)

I don't think unicorns have more magic than the 2 other races.
