private Can A Robot Feel?

It was a snowy evening in the everfree, forest and you and your friends were lost, and it was getting pretty cold, and if you didn't find shelter soon you would freeze to death, I know, doesn't sound too fun does it, That's what happens when three random ponies start chatting in the street.

 

Luckily for you it seems like some sort of structure is up ahead, and it looks inviting,

 

But as you enter The ageing facility you notice strange markings all over the building, they look like something that would resemble a millitary base, you spot rows and rows of what looks like statues of ponies, but made of metal and wires instead of rock and stone, and well your interest is peaked, and so you walk over to the corner and spot a console, and on the green screen is a question, with two choices to pick from.

 

ACTIVATE PLATFORM 21-P?

 

YES? NO?

 

Now Riley, Lexi Rosa, Bright Spark and Vested Interest must now decide what to do, cause who knows what might happen if they click yes, maybe it'll end the world, or it might even unleash an army of zombies, who knows, anyway on with the RP

Lexi looked at at Riley and Bright Spark,"So which do we press, Yes or No."She thought for a moment and turned back towards the buttons.She was temepted to press a button, her eyes twiched as she looked at the buttons.She backed away standing next to them,"We gotta chose Oh amd I wanna push the button."She said excitedly

Riley inspected the buttons that laid before the group, and then his eyes' gaze shifted over to Lexi and Bright Spark. He looked at buttons again.

 

"Ooh, a button! Let's press it!" And then, without a second thought, he stuck out his hoof and pressed the button.

Suddenly a large scrapping noise and a light comes on in the corner, underneath it stands one of the metal statues, and it seems to start glowing, and a voice rings out from the speakers.

 

"WARNING PLATFORM 21-P HAS BEEN ACTIVATED PLEASE USE CAUTION WHILE THE COMBAT PLATFROM DOES ITS MISSION"

Lexi looked at Riley,"Aww I wanted to press it."She heard some clanging noises and a weird glow.She turned around to see something saying platmore 21 has been activated . When she heard the last part, she backed up,"C-combat platform."She said looking at whatever that was

Bright Spark, quite frankly, was appalled by Riley's button pressing. Surely he could've pressed it better. At least a tad more eccentric.

"Yeah, well don't get your hopes up. This place is probably old. Like, really old. Like the decor though..." Bright Spark did like the decor, all metallic. He liked that.

He was suddenly distracted by somebody talking over the speakers. Combat Platform? What combat platform? The idea of a combat platform unnerved him somewhat.

"Please tell me this 'combat platform' is going to see us as civilians and not intruders. Because we're doomed if it's the latter."

Suddenly the scrapping noise cuts of and a quite yet metallic voice speaks from the glowing statue.

 

"Platform 21-P has been activated, Preparing for Peace-Keeper assignment... Lethal force has been authorized if required to complete objectives"

 

Suddenly the statue opens it eyes to reveal the ruby coloured lenses...

 

"State your purpose organics... Or face capital punishment..."

Vested Interest remembered that she had only one reason to be around here: business. She had to do whatever she could to keep her family from going broke paying for these trips back and forth from Stallion Island.

 

But meddling in somepony else's affairs, unless she was sure this was going to be for somepony's benefit, was not something Vested felt good doing.

 

As she stared down the "combat platform", a rush of thoughts came over her. "Think of the possibilities," she told herself in her head. If she could get her horn on such advanced technology, maybe "locally-produced" wouldn't be so hard to do anymore. Maybe this could be the next big thing, the one that finally breaks her family even.

 

That was now the least of her concerns.

 

"Capital punishment"

 

That could be the end of not only her but her whole business, all of her interests, all of the friends and loyal customers that she had made, and most importantly, her family. Where would they be able to get without her?

 

All to be ended by a robot. She knew that if she spoke up right now, the other ponies in there with her would be trusting her with their lives. As a salespony, she was probably among the most qualified to do so. But that was dealing with other ponies. This...wasn't like those other ponies, to say the least.

 

Vested, crumbling under the uncertainty of the situation, nearly retreated into the shyness that had plagued her as a filly. But she had to speak up.

 

Very directly, as she knew a machine would understand it.

 

"Platform 21-P, we are civilians traveling through the area. We mean you no harm, we are merely lost and in need of shelter."

Platform 21-P is active... current time... Unknown... Current objective... Provide fines to trespassing organics...

 

"as is standard law for trespassing on Government and military property... You must each pay a fine of one thousand bits, if you do not I will have to detain you in this facility, until the commanding officer returns..."

 

Platform 21-P then walks over to one of the other metal statues that has a horn and starts to repair it.

Bright Spark was expecting some form of soldiers to come into the bunker, or somebody to show up and defuse a bomb. But a robot? That was even better! It was beautiful! Bright Spark didn't know what to say. Should he speak up? He really wanted to just, take it apart and put it back together; he doubted that the robot would allow him to do that. There is one thing he could probably ask.

"Excuse me, robot.  Platform 21-p as you are. When was the last time you were activated? And why were you refereed to as a combat platform?"

Platform 21-P finishes working on the other robot and activates it, it then walks out of the room and down a corridor, Platform 21-P turns around to face the group.

 

"We are unsure of when we were last activated... Our internal clocks have stopped working... It will require repairs..."

 

Platform 21-P then summons a Chain Sword to appear where a horn should be.

 

"We are a fully equipped Combat platform... Chaos Breaker Class... We are known as Platform 21-P... Or 21-Pony..."

Vested Interest noticed the machines and then looked over at Bright Spark,

 

"Would you try to repair these things? If you could, I think we just might have a deal that would get us on good terms with them."

"Hmm... I could probably update the internal clock. It's probably just de-synchronized because of the long time spent inactive. Fortunately, the hardware shouldn't have to rely on the time..." Getting the internal clock to work wasn't a challenge for Bright Spark. In something as complex as a robot it probably was the simplest part.

"you don't mind if i have a peek at your internal clock, combat platform... Don't you have a name we can use or something?"

The Chain Sword slides away and Platform 21-P walks over to bright spark and lowers his head, a small panel pops open revealing many wires and switches.

 

"If you can assist this platform we would greatly appreciate it... Also we are known as Platform 21-P... If you would prefer a different name please tell me so I may add it to my data base"

Names could come later, Bright Spark had some surgery to perform! Bright Spark walked over to the robots head. A feint light shone from his horn, and a small ball was emitted, making it's way into the center of the robot. He gave a short whistle.

"wow. You are complex! I would just love to take you apart..." Bright Spark was lost within the circuitry of the robot, looking for the internal clock. Internal clocks were simple, you could get an internal clock to run in little time. Once he found it, all he had to do was rearrange some wires, and update the clock. Then he put it back in it's place and soldered it into position with his horn.

"Alright, done! It's off by about 1 and half seconds, but that shouldn't really matter. Everything's back in place; I didn't take anything."
