1. Magic Duel's the pilot, and The Crystal Empire and Magical Mystery Cure are the 3-part finale.

 

2. Sombra's the Bigger Bad; he gave Luna NMM's "seed" (to hurt the Sisters for sealing him), made the Alicorn Amulet as a "key" (The user (Thanks, Trixie.) would spread enough dark magic to bust his seal.), and casts the Cutie-Mark-swap spell before dying (as a last laugh on Twilight & co.).

 

3. Discord's also in TCE and MMC. But even he gets Sombra-trapped somehow in TCE.

 

4. Beating Sombra's last spell = bad@$$ alicornhood for Twilight.

Maybe we'll see Sombra more in the future? It's a possibility.

Anyway, if there's one thing I want to change in Season 3, it's the episode "Spike At Your Service," to have the original plan of making it a Sparity episode. The original plan would have made Spike's clumsiness a lot more understandable and in character.

Pretty good list, but you forgot to add in the other half of the season's worth of episodes! Increase the number of episodes from 13 to 26 would have done away with atleast 1/4 of the complaints s3 received.

I probably would've also given the season 26 eps instead of 13 and given Sombra more screen time. Also, I would bring Gilda back.

1. Made 26 episodes rather than 13 and a movie.

 

2. Give a middle finger to the "Derpy is offensive" crowd and had three episodes around her.

 

3. More cameos than Dr. Who, even taking away a few of the doctor.

 

4. A BACKGROUND PONY EPISODE!!!

 

5. Rainbow Dash would've obtained a boyfriend, possibly by force.

 

6. One episode would've focused on Celestia and Luna playing games, with Luna winning EVERY TIME!!!

 

7. Sea ponies riding the Loch Ness monster.

Well there's only 2 things I would fix about season 3/

 

1. Make it 26 episodes since the flaws seem to stick out more since there's less episodes

 

2. Easily fix Spike at your Service by replacing Applejack with Rarity and everything is justified since Spike has a crush on her. Also would've added a rarity episode with that solution

Good ideas, all.  I like it.  I always thought that MMC should have at least been a two parter.  Actually, I think it would have been awesome to make it a cliffhanger.  Maybe just end the episode when Twi disappears and leave it at that.  Make people wait until S4 to find out that she transformed into an alicorn.  That woulda been pretty cool, I think.  Speaking less realistically and more hypothetically, I think it would have been pretty awesome and epic if they did a finale like the OP said, with Sombra as the big villain, and Twilight actually had to sacrifice herself to save the others, and they end with a cliffhanger with her being "dead", and then she's resurrected next season as an alicorn a la Gandalf the White.  But that's a little to intense for a kid's show, I know.  Still, that would be awesome.
