Children of the Moon

 

A long time ago, a member of the Alicorn royalty named Celestia gained followers for her cult after claiming to have power over celestial objects. She preached charismatic sermons and used illusion magic to increase the number of her adherents. Along with her main priestess, Luna, she ordered her followers to launch attacks to pony villages to gain converts by fear, and to assassinate the other Alicorns. Since the other Alicorns were now dead, besides Luna, Celestia was now given the throne. With her newfound power, she became even more cruel, making it a criminal offense to not accept her supreme power, and shunned those that spoke against her. Unfortunately, the majority of the uneducated ponies began to worship her without question, since she had official authority.

Many of the intellectual ponies refused to truly believe in her lies. They knew that no pony could ever control the sun, things that God made to control only themselves. It was a moral sin to worship anything other than God, for it was he that made the universe.

Celestia viewed these monotheists as her greatest threat, and, despite her childhood upbringing as one, wanted them eliminated. She ordered her guards to gather as many as there were in Equestria. Along with several powerful Unicorns, she cast a spell on them to disappear. However, these persecuted ponies did not just vanish into thin air, they secretly were transported to a strange territory by outside forces. This territory was the moon. Consuming the lunar flora, they lived there peacefully for many generations. As each pony looked at Equestria in the sky, their hearts sank as they thought about the poor ponies that were now slaves to Celestia. They longed if they could ever return to save them.

  • You are free and even encouraged to clarify about the history of this RP.

Other Important Notes:

  • In this roleplay, there are only three groups of ponies. There is a Celestian majority in Equestria, a hidden monotheist minority in Equestria, and the monotheist ponies on the moon.
  • Before Celestianism, everypony was a monotheist.
  • The roleplay happens 60 years after the spell was cast.
  • The spell was supposed to cause them to cease existing, but they actually reappeared on the moon.

It happens way before Discord's temporary reign, so no, Luna is still allied with Celestia.

I don't understand you. Have you read the description. They are not rebelling against anyone. They go about there daily lives and then decide to visit Equestria (somehow, later in the plot we'll find out how) to spread the truth about Celestia, and how she is a fake.

They retained their belief in God despite Celestia's wishes, which was why she cast the spell on them. They believed that nothing is deserving of worship but God.

What about the ponies who don't believe in or worship god and or Celestia? Do they just pass them up or do they stick around them and tell them about a 100 ways that the way they think is wrong?

Yup. They are descendants of rebels that kept their faith despite Celestia's forceful threats. And they want to show other ponies the truth about Celestia's trickery.

He looks like an awesome character. Perhaps you can give a backstory relevant to this rp (as he'd have to be a lunar descendant) in this thread. Like, for example, take away the Discord part and insert parts about lunar dragons, etc.

I won't modify the page of the OC so I'll just write it here.

 

Hyper is a royal guard who refused to carry out a lot of the corrupt demands of the princesses, and started to speak out, then boom, off to the moon!

So, he can be one of the original settlers that appeared there, and survived for that long. Sounds OK.

Yeah, she could just be one of the senior citizens just like the other guy's.

 

 

Basically, If anypony was born in Equestria in the timeline of this story (60 years after the spell was cast), they have to be old ponies by now (they can be in shape, though).

@Hyper ,

 

Our original character's ages are far apart enough, and they both have thin slanted eyes, and Asian-inspired manners of hairstyle/dress. Plus, they are both earth ponies. How would you like it if my character was your character's grandchild? It makes a lot of sense.
