How often are Shining Armor and Cadance able to spend time together?

While a blurb on one of the toy sets says that Shining Armor and Cadance rule the Crystal Empire together, Twilight's Kingdom may prove otherwise to some extent as the episode makes it seem as if Cadance rules the Empire herself while her husband is in Canterlot doing his day job as captain. Unless they usually do, and Shining Armor being in Canterlot and doing his Guard duties was just an emergency due to Tirek. So, between that possibility and their royal duties, how often do you think they get free time to spend with each other?

The dialogue between Discord and Shinning Armor implied that the later wasn't in Canterlot very often. As to what his role is in the Crystal Empire that is never made clear. Honestly it's unclear what role Cadence plays governing. Is there a mayor and civil government? What role does goverment play in Equestria? All open questions.

I'm sure they find a way somehow. I mean I doubt Shining Armor works full-time in Canterlot, and I'm sure there are systems in place to ensure some sort of order going on so that Cadence doesn't have to be a micro-manager.

Yes, I think that was the case.

Shining Armor and Cadance stay in The Crystal Empire most of the time. They should be able to spend a lot of time together.

Shining Armour stays in the Crystal Empire. He's even been left in charge during Cadence's visit to Ponyville. While technically a Prince he still forfills his role of Knight-Captain, i believe his reasons for being in canterlot will probably be either as an Envoy of the Crystal Empire while checking up on the training of Canterlot's Royal Guard. I'd imagine Shining left another pony in charge and checks to see how they are doing the job.
