My landing craft slower headed straight towards the beach. We'd been shipped off to Okinawa. I looked around the craft saw som recruits. Fear in there faces was all that I saw. "Alright men listen up. When we get off the beach we regroup with Lt. Peterson's platoon." I said to the squad. "When we land don't get lost. We need to stay together so stay as a group...Don't shoot at the MG nest you got a 0% chance to hit. You fire at an MG nest you waste ammo and those guns will turn on us. Also stay behind cover until that nest gets blown to high hell. Now keep those eyes clear and I'll see you on the beach." A few F4 Corsairs flew past us. "OORAH!" yelled the marine next to me. "Damn look at-" I was cut off by the landing craft behind us was struck by artillery. I saw those men getting on that boat. Most of 'em were recruits. "Damn..20 seconds!" yelled the driver "God be with you!" I began to get nervous. I looked at the recruit next to me. He was sweating bullets, his face was white as a ghost and he was shaking. May God be with him and us I thought to myself. "10 seconds!"

Henry J. Jackson

Henry felt a heavy rock in the pit of his stomach, as they got closer to the beach the rock seemed to get heavier and heavier until finally he vomited. He aimed for the side of the Higgins boat, but some of it splashed to the bottom of the landing craft. None of the other men seemed to notice, most of them were white and sickly and caught in their own anxious thoughts of what was to come. Henry wiped the sludge from his face with his sleeve, his hands shook as he did so, and he barely managed to keep a hold of his M1 Garand. He fought to keep his nerves under control, and the shaking managed to subside a little.

"10 seconds!" The sergeant shouted.

Henry looked to the beach, and gulped, they were almost there. The shaking returned, but now Henry was unable to quell it.

Connor was at the front of the craft, watching the beach as it came closer, looking for possible targets, there were a few MG nests, they were his main priority.

He pulled the bolt back and loaded a round into his Scoped Springfield rifle, and adjusted his shades, ready for the hatch to open.

I looked at a marine puking. I turned back around and adjusted my glasses. The craft suddenly stopped. The hatch door dropped down. "Alright everyone out now!" Gun fire from the MG was tearing men apart. I ran over to a destroyed higgins. The scared recruit from the boat followed me. He tried to look at the MG. I grabbed him and pulled him down. "You want to keep your head?" I said to him. "Yea..uh..sir" he replied. "Then keep it down. I looked at the beach men were dropping like flies. "When are those damn birds getin here?!" I yelled. "Shore party. Shore party" I grabbed PFC. Clark. Our radio man. "First wave is being held down by MG fire. Get some firepower on it." I looked at Jordan. My best friend since Iwo. "They're hitting us pretty damn hard."

(No one shoot the MG nest ok. Just act like a Okinawa version of Saving Pvt. Ryan)

(But that's my whole job description :( )

Connor sprints from the craft and ducks behind a destroyed M4 Sherman, the top of it looks like a burning tuna can, artillery blew its top clean off.

He tried to get a bead on the MG nest tearing up the beach but they had him pinned.

Marcus ran to cover, He began to hyperventilate when he noticed how close he had been to being shot dead. He was about to peak his head out to see what was going on but a bullet hit the cover right above his head and he ducked down again. He looked at the corpses that were scattered across the beach. He then looked at his hands, which were shaking more than a washing machine with a pair of boots in them. "I knew I should have joined the Army, not the Marines..." He said quietly to himself.

"Shore party get those damn birds in here!" I yelled at the radio man. "They're sending 'em. Be a few until they get here." Clark replied. I looked around to see the MG nest. They were firing there bullets in every direction. One of the guns spotted me and turned towards me. The bullets kicked up dirt and sand. I quickly got back in cover. The recruit looked at me. He had tears coming down his face. He looked like he was 18. He must've been a draftee. "Hey its gonna be alright. What's your name?" I asked. I wanted to see this kid make it. "James Wells sir." "Your gonna get through this alright. Just stick with me." After I said that artillery started looming in on our position. "Shit we need to move Jordan" I grabbed the recruit and we ran to a destroyed M4 Sherman. "Hello Conor" I said to Conor. I looked back to Clark. "Clark can you-Aw shit man down" Clark had been shot in yhe back by a sniper. He held my B.A.R. tightly. Calm down Josh. You will not die. At least not on this beach. I thought.

(Alright good start you guys keep it up)

Henry J. Jackson

As soon as they left the craft, they were met with a hail of machine gun fire. All around him bodies were ripped apart as bullets tore through flesh, screams and cries of pains ensued. Henry dropped to the ground, just as the private trailing behind him was met with a storm of bullets, which Henry had just merely missed himself. Henry's heart thumped in his body, and his breathing was quick and heavy. As his comrades fell all around him, he crawled as stealthily as he could behind a destroyed Sherman, the turret had been blown clean off, with small embers crackling from within its hull. There was a badly burnt corpse a few metres away from it, and the smell of the crispy flesh filled Henry's nostrils. As he took cover behind the destroyed machine, he turned to a rifleman at his side who seemed to be mumbling to himself. Henry wondered whether they were prayers, or last words he was seeing.

I stayed behind cover. waiting for the planes to come. "Arrgh! Where's those damn birds?!" I said looking into the sky. I turned around to see the bunkers. Men were being ripped to pieces. A mortar round exploded near me which sent me into some shell shock. I looked around the beach. I saw a flammethrower wielding marine's tanks getting shot which turned him into a fire ball. I looked around and saw a marine with his guts out. A sight I wish I hadn't seen. I recovered from my shock to see a radio man near me. "Hey you!" I said to him "Give me that damn radio!"

Marcus was sitting behind cover, almost crying. He saw a corpse fall next to him and said "I'm don't want to die..." He then looked over to a crater that was caused by a mortor. He waited for the MG to stop firing to reload and ran to the crater, he jumped in and went prone. The crater was deep enough that the bullets couldn't hit him, so it was effective cover. He rolled onto his back and took a deep breathe before whispering a prayer. He rolled onto his stomach before another corpse fell next to him.

Henry J. Jackson

The sergeant fell into the cover of the Sherman, next to Henry.

"Give me the damn radio!" Yelled the sergeant over the rattle of machine guns, and the rumble of artillery. Henry spun around so that the Sergeant could access the radio controls, the frequency for forward HQ was already set, so all he needed to do was pick up the phone.

(That was fast)

The radio man spun around so he could access the radio. I picked up the phone. The frequency was set so all I had to do was speak into it. "Major Huston. Where's those planes?" I adjusted my glasses again. "These fucking MGs have us pinned down" I yelled over the explosions and gun fire. "Planes can't be sent. The AA fire will knock the birds out of the fight before they can unleash their payload." The major said. "You gotta be fucking kidding me" "Sorry but it can't be down" I slammed the radio phone down. "Thanks buddy. Well planes ain't gettin in. Need to find a new way." I thought of a plan. "Alright everyone follow me" we ran to a crashed landing craft. A flamethrower from my squad was there. "Cpl. Avery we need you to flank around with us to take down that MG bunker." I said pointing to a bunker. "We knock out one. That's a gateway to knock down the others" I looked at the the bunker and waited for the bunker to reload. It stopped to reload. "Alright lets go. Come on follow me" I ran towards the bunker as fast as I could with the squad of marines behind me.

Connor didn't like the sound of the Sargent's plan, but orders were orders, so he ran up behind the squad leader, holding his rifle in one hand and un clasping his revolver with the other.

"This plans crazy sir, we should of waited for another tank to land or something"

"Tanks can't get through this way Conor" My squad dropped behind cover. "You guys run that way." I said pointing a trench. "We'll give you covering fire fire." the squad ran to the trench. As they did I opened fire on a mg nest protected only with some sand bags. "Conor I need you to take your rifle and take care of those Japs on the hill. You take em out we can move up to the bunkers."

Connor dropped into cover and nodded at the Sgt's order, he smiled slightly, that order was one he could enjoy.

He pulled the bolt back on his rifle, loading a round into the chamber and looked through the scope, in his sight was the enemy, he took a breath and pulled the trigger.

One of the enemy soldiers fell limp, in his had was a grenade, the pin missing, he then pulled the bolt back and readied for the next shot.

Seeing the gunner was down. I turned to Conor "Conor shoot the bags. They'll collapse. Then the squad can finish em off." I looked back down at the beach. We need to get rid of them MGs fast I thought. Were losing men. I looked back to Conor "Get em in your sights Steel."

Connor nodded, and he aimed at the lower bags in the wall, he begun to fire at them, with a little less accuracy, all his shots hit their mark and the wall collapsed.

"Walls down bugs, give em hell, I'm gonna sit here and pick a few more off before I make a move"

He then reloads each bullet into his rifle and aims once again at the enemy.

The wall came down along with the Japs. "Open fire on em! Send em to hell!" I shot at the them with my BAR. Hitting at least one in numerous places. "Alright squad move up take out those bunkers." The squad began to advance to the bunkers. He went to the nearest one and took cover behind it. I took a grenade and threw it Jordan did the same. When the grenades blew we got out of cover and headed towards the entrance. A Jap with a sword came out. We quickly killed him. Another one csme out with a Type 100 smg. He was killed before he could make a move. We dropped down into the bunker's trench. "Royce put a satchel charge in that bunker." He did we got clear, then BOOM!!! The bunker blew. "The guys our advancing!" the recruit yelled.

Henry followed the Sergeant and Connor with a steady pace. He provided covering fire when necessary, but did little more than he was asked of. As a radioman he knew his predicament was worse than his other fellow comrades; except for those poor sods given the flamethrowers. Henry was glad his luck did not run that thin. His M1 shook with a violent ferocity as he attempted to line up his shots on the Japanese on the hillside, and only once did one of the bullets strike home. A wave of nausea overcame him as the Japanese soldier was thrown back by the force of the bullet, causing him to slip forwards, his body rolling down the hill, which in turn tripped up one of his comrades. Henry shook the nausia away, and swept aside all his terrible thoughts, and his morality. He put down the tripped up Japanese soldier with no feeling. His feeling of conscience temporarily lost beneath a burst of adrenaline, and fear. As he took heed of his kills, he quickly moved up with the rest of the squad. Taking up positions around the Japanese bunkers, a couple of pineapples were thrown in, and a satchel charge which made quick work of them. His ears rang from the high pitched explosion, and he struggled to hear what the Sergeant's next orders were over the din.
