Hovemind headed back to Shadow's house in Ponyville after a uniquely short day of running around Equestrian. He had second thoughts about going back and not just returning to his cave in the Everfree Forest but eventually knocked on hervdoor back in the disguise he took from her book.

She heard knocking and took off her cloak and saddle bag before getting up and heading down stairs, almost tripping. She opened the door slowly and said "Hello, Who is it?" She knew it was probably Hivemind but wanted to be sure.  Some of her mane was covering her face.

"Hivemind", he said using his hoof to move her mane out of her face before realizing what it was that he was doing. "S-sorry, Shadow.. I just", he stammered backing away from her but one look into her eyes dragged him back. Something about her drew him to her but he couldn't figure out what.

She noticed that he had moved her mane out of her face and said "thank you?... and welcome back, did you finish what Celestia needed you to do?" She asked him. "Also, come in" She said before walking over to her couch and sitting down. She looked in his direction and smiled, slightly questioning why he had moved her mane out of her face.

"Sorry about the mane thing...it was just...I couldn't see your ey- sorry", he tried to explain as he slinked into the house and closed the door then sat on the far end of the couch from her, trying not to cause any more trouble. "What Celestial needed. Oh yeah. That's done", he said trying not sound embarrassed from what he did with her mane.

"its okay... " Shadow said before noticing that he had sat on the far end of the couch from her, causing her smile to fade slightly. "So... what exactly did she have you do. Also you don't have to be in disguise why in my home. " She said before looking down at her hooves.

He let his disguise fade away and looked over at her wanting to sit next to her but afraid that doing so would cause some complication. "Pointless erands to Saddle Arabia and the Empire...stupid mail...that's Derpy's job, not mine", he grumbled looking down at the floor.

She scooted a little closer, hoping he wasn't looking. "oh... maybe it was something important and it needed to get there. You have no how many times My f... some ponies I knew would send me a letter and it would never get here. Well I think it never got here" She said.

"Of it was important she wouldn't send someone she thinks is plotting against her to deliver it....or at least that is my assumption", he said scooting slightly towards her, not noticing that she had done the same. He figured the word she had chosen to avoid was probably 'Family" and chose not to pursue the issue for her sake.

"Maybe she just wants you to think she still thinks your going to plot and attack, maybe she is playing a trick on you." She joked. She smiled at him, and looked at her hooves again. Thinking to herself, she looked at him, with a faint smile. There was something about Hivemind, that made him stand out, besides the fact that he was changeling.

"Just wants to.....that would suck", he stated scooting a little bit closer so that hecwas now in thpe middle of the couch. He looked at her staring into her hooves and almost put an arm overbher shoulder to be comforting but she might hit him if he did. "What's wrong, Shadow", he asked quietly.

"oh Nothing is wrong, I'm just thinking." She said before smiling at him. She noticed he had moved closer to her and smiled slightly. "and to tell you the truth, I wouldn't be surprised if she was just tricking you. One of my friends told me that when she had visited ponyville once, she had played a trick on MR. Cake."

"All right...I just thought I had done something to upset you", he said glad he handnt put his arm over her because that undoubtedly have made things...awkward to say the least. "If she's tricking me, she's tricking me...nothing I can peacefully do about it", he said checking that his chest was still disguised as a piny so she would ever feel the hole showing his literal heartlessness.

"You could just ask if she was tricking you, and look for signs that she is, like if she says no, ponies who lie usually, look to the side and try to avoid eye contact. Make to much eye contact. Smile to much, laugh. They also touch their neck, nose and ears... I have read allot of books about Crimes." She said before looking at him. "And it takes allot to upset me just so you know..."

He moved over and sat next to her, blushing slightly and glad she couldn't see it. Hivemind looked at her expecting to get hit for moving so close. "So what if she is tricking me? Wait. If she is then I don't need to keep doing all of these rediculous errands", he said finally.

She her hoof next to her and felt Hivemind, she quickly lifted her hoof and blushed. She hadn't noticed that he had moved that close, something was telling her to scoot away, but something else was telling her to stay. "I guess if she was tricking you... I wonder why?"

He thought about possible reasons but came up empty. "I really can't think of why she would unless it was to see more of me", he said jokingly. "Seriously though, if she has been tricking me, I can't think of any realistic reason as to why", he said happy she hadn't hit him.

She was about to say something but after some thinking she decide not to. She looked down and put her hooves together "I can't think of any other reason..." She began to think "So, even though it's off topic, do you have any family?" She asked before looking at him.

"Family? Yeah...Queen Chrysalis and all the other changelings. They are my family...and even though he doesn't agree, I count Dusk Shade as like a father to me, but that's it for my family", he answered in an even-toned voice. "What about you...you have any family", he asked quietly.

[Nameless Knight 1,001]

Her smile faded "M-my family... well... Me and my parents never really got along... and my sister... well lets just say we are complete opposites..." Shadow said before looking at her hooves "To tell you the truth... I'm not really sure I can call them my family..." She said

"Sorry I asked about your family. It was a stupid mistake", he said apogetically before putting a foreleg over her not really caring if she got mad and hit him, as long as he could try and comfort her though he wasn't really sure if she even needed or wanted it.

"its not your fault..." She said before noticing he had put his foreleg over her. She figure that he was attempting to comfort her. "T-thank you for trying comfort me..." She said, faintly smiling at him, Slightly blushing. She was hoping that he was trying to comfort her.

"I couldn't just let you slip into misery...I had to at least try to help you out", Hivemind replied pulling his foreleg away from her shoulder carefully as to not startle her with a sudden motion that she wouldn't be able to see. He mumbled something that sounded like six "Sorries".

"Well Thank you... only a few stallions would be willing to do that." She said before smiling at him. She heard him mumbling six sorries and said "what are you apologizing for?"

 

(before you ask 'how did she hear it', have you ever heard about the blinds' other senses are heightened)

"I'm apologizing because I felt bad about putting a leg around when you couldn't even see it", he said ribbing his neck nervously and slid slightly away from her. He looked down at his hooves and mumbled to himself.
