Founded a topic on CNN I believe we should read about.

That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that intervention in this, and most cases, should be a people's vote. Before that I stated that I wouldn't support such necessarily. It could go awry. Quite so.

Everything could go awry though, that's a necessary implicative of dissenting opinions. The articles talks about how extremism gets only voiced, perhaps only due to it's power as majority vote. Nobody stands in the middle ground, so it is succintly ignored.

Conservatives: "CNN is almost as bad as MSNBC"

Liberals:  "CNN is almost as bad as FOX NEWS"

Jeric: Hmm. I want to find out what is happening in the US. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/

As if the BBC's not biased.  >_>

Too often, we pre-empt healthy debate by applauding those with whom we agree and shouting down the rest.

I so very much agree with this. It applies to pretty much everything about which people debate. And it applies equally to most everyone on both sides of every argument.

Legitimate debate is almost unheard of these days. It's all flowery prose constructed to make one's own position seem the only reasonable answer and to make the opposing views seem like the end of mankind. And it's all done without actually saying much of any legitimate meaning.
