That was in the beginning, at the end, he was sick to the point where he was being forced to stay in bed. 

 

If his powers work like Roger Rabbit, then that certainly explains things. Sadly though, it fails since he was pretty serious looking when he dodged Tirek's blast

The problem is that with Discord, we have such a limited pool of things to call on for combat as Discord doesn't fight a lot. As such, we get this

 

He can beat up the princesses

He can dodge Tirek but not snot

He can be restrained via paralysis

His magic is subject to being drained

He is resistant to most damage

 

That's all we have on actual combat, which is a mixed bag of good shows and bad. The rest of Discord is more environmental than personal.

 

As for telekinesis being a weapon, I doubt it. The characters always resort to concussive energy waves instead of age spells, telekinesis, or other such things. I don't really know why. The one time I remember telekinesis being used in combat was by Tirek, even then, it was just to hold Discord in place and toss Twilight, not really the Force Choke you seem to be thinking about. Otherwise, it's just Kamehameha style lasers.

 

As for the HST, Kaguya can certainly get rather far as can the ones who mind fuck  you

EVD, this was quite an unnecessary thread. We all know by now that their powers are WAY too high as people put them. Specially on Discord.

 

I guess in fact the only weaknesses that these characters have is about their character flaws, not their physical strength.

Twilight was able to bend a straw with her telekinisis, and considering how Tirek used it in combat applications, telekinesis can be used in combat in FIM verse. As for why we don't see it in such a heavy fashion as say magic lasers, it's simply writers probably not thinking too creatively about telekinesis use or due to the nature of using telekinisis (breaking someone's body for example), it would probably be too violent to use it in the fashion I believe they can.

Good question. Since they're still conscious and mind fucks seem to work on a spiritual level most of the time, it should still work fine.

Marvel gives us Storm, who has been subdued and incapacitated by human characters too many times to count.
Spider-man takes hit from the Hulk, but gets hurt by bullets and knives
Ash Ketchum from Pokemon. The boy who, as of Black and White, routinely has his Pikachu use Volt Tackle on him. Ouch.
While we're at it, most pokemon in general. Ash was dead scared of having his Pikachu shot by poachers, although Pikachu should be damn well bulletproof by the first episode. Tyranitar was killed by rocket launchers, which technically shouldn't hurt Ash.

It's really a relative term; a god is simply anybody who's abilities are beyond the comprehension of mortals. Batman calls Superman a god, for instance. In the princesses case, they're so far above those around them that they're at least honorary gods. It also helps that they fulfill deity roles by moving the sun and moon.

Well i like to use term "god" to forces that are above Discord,Tirek and Alicorns. Forces that gave them magic or created them, forces that created their world. This term should refer to makers not common users of magic. Every unicorn could be powerfull enough to be a god if that the case. Maybe Tree of Harmony is one of the few gods in Equestria

Demigod assumes there's some other god higher than them that gave them their powers, which we haven't seen. Of course, that still doesn't exclude them; there are god pantheons after all. Gods also tend to be prone to mistakes, outside of the Christian faith, so messing up doesn't detract from that category either.

Again, just a relative term, god just depends on how strong you are as compared to those around you. Superman's a god on Earth, but on Krypton, he's nothing special.
