Names for nations outside Equestria

For other nations outside of Equestria, what do you think they're called? So far we have Saddle Arabia, which is home to horses. Try giving them your desired names. Here's how I'd name them.

Griffonia - Griffons

Draconia - Dragons

Neighpon - Kirins

Zebrica - Zebras and other African animals

Cervainia - Deer

Nagania - Nagas

Minotaurus - Minotaurs

Satyria - Satyrs

What about an underwater nation for mmm Seaponies? :P

The only Issue I have with your names is that if you think of equestria, there are ponies living there. But its not called "Ponyvia" or "Ponivoma" or something along those lines. Your names have some kind of direct connection to its inhabitants.

When thinking about nations outside of Equestria, I took a lot of inspiration from hlissner's Where the World Ends wiki and universe, using them as a starting point in several instances.

Saddle Arabia - Equestrian (since it was included in the Equestria Games) province/territory/colony close to the homeland of the camels.

Khamelu/Kamellu/Kamella - Homeland of the camels. Based on the middle east/Egypt.

Syl'Varus - Hlissner calls the homeland of the Cervid people Cervidas. I imagined them as a republic, but rather than calling them the Cervid Republic, I went with the Sylvan Republic (Sylvan meaning something to do with the forest) because I imagine their homeland is heavily forested. I then came up with Syl'Varus as the name of their home subcontinent, as it sounded suitably exotic.

Vintirmark - Large island off the coast of Syl'varus close to the planet's south pole, and ancestral homeland of the reindeer and moose. I imagine the reindeer and moose, while related to the other Cervids (deer and elk) to come from a snowier land based off of Scandinavia.

Neighpon - Again, because of the horse pun, I imagine Neighpon as yet another Equestrian territory to the East, this time off the west coast of the Caprid Empire (based on East Asia/Japan/China).

Caprica/Kapurika (?) - Couldn't really think up a creative name for the Caprid people's homeland, though I imagine their political institution to be called the Caprid Empire (based primarily off of Imperial Japan or dynastic China). Kirin might exist here.

Terra - The name of the planet, mostly because it's an alternate Earth-like planet. I feel like calling it Equus (as some do) is unfairly pony/equine-centric.

Those are just some of the ideas I have.

Edit: Also, how could I forget:

Zebrica - Homeland of the zebra and giraffe. Pretty self-explanatory. Plenty of jungles and savanna, like Africa, with perhaps some desert, too.

Personally, when I construct alternate universes or specific headcanons, I just take what's canonically available and add on from there. For example, we know that the following countries exist from what has been said in the show:

- Equestria (duh!)

- Maretonia

- Crystal Empire (see below)

- Saddle Arabia

- Griffon Kingdom

There are some other locales that could arguably be called countries, such as Mustangia (mentioned in Games Ponies Play) and Maretania (mentioned in Three's a Crowd; not to be confused with Maretonia).

Personally, I like to think of the Crystal Empire as a separate principality, but with royal links to Equestria through the marriage of Shining Armor and Princess Cadance, made official upon Twilight's ascension to the throne. In the show, the Crystal Empire just seems to be an autonomous part of Equestria. I don't know, the political structure of the canon MLP world isn't particularly clear.

I don't have a headcanon, but I do have an alternate universe where some different events happen, thus changing the political, economic, and social landscape of the entire world. In said universe, the following countries exist:

- Principality of Equestria (Capital: Canterlot): Federal constitutional principality; after centuries of absolute rule by the princesses, a constitution was ratified after Twilight Sparkle's ascension, diffusing power to lower levels and providing for directly-elected constituent governments. Power is split between the crown government in Canterlot, which is unelected and has limited powers, 26 regional governments, and one federal district - Canterlot - that has few powers and is overseen by the crown government. Its population is much, much, much larger than in canon, with 107.1 million residents. Its highly advanced and diverse economy is centered around trade, agriculture, mining, magitek, manufacturing, media, tourism, medicine, biotechnology, and logistics. Aside from the griffon separatist movement in the far northeast (see below), there is an active buffalo nationalist movement in the central region of Durango; the tribes are asking for either autonomy or independence as the Buffalo Nation. Their requests have not yet been addressed by Canterlot or Dodge Junction (the regional capital).

- Crystal Empire (Capital: Diamond City): Absolute unitary principality with monarchist ties to Equestria. Its history and location is much the same as it is in canon. The country has four provinces, but they have little power. It is currently in a land dispute with Arctica, as that country laid claim to what is now the Crystal Empire; the principality asserts that its existence predates Arctica, as it was a real country with the same boundaries until the Sombra incident lead to its disappearance. Has an estimated population of 3.5 million. Fairly developed economy, but it is mostly dependent on trade with Equestria and Ponyland.

- Commonwealth of Arctica (Capital: Trottawa): A republic located north of Equestria. As its name implies, Arctica is known for its relatively cool climate and harsh winters, except in areas near the far western coast. Arctica broke off from Equestria as part of the fall of the feudal system a few centuries back. Disputes its eastern boundary with the Crystal Empire; the country asserts that the Crystal Empire did not reappear until centuries after Arctica became independent and laid claim to the territory, making the Crystal Empire's boundaries null and void. Its developed economy is centered around trade, agriculture, mining, tourism, medicine, biotechnology, and logistics. Has an estimated population of 20.6 million.

- Republic of Ponyland (Capital: Hayport): A republic located northeast of Equestria; this country broke off from Equestria in the turmoil that came with the end of the feudal system. Ponyland was a poor agricultural backwater until the country diversified its economy, opened itself to trade, and industrialized; it is now one of the most developed countries in the world, with an economy focused around trade, agriculture, tourism, and medicine. Has a population of 22.1 million. There is an active griffon separatist movement in the far west (see below).

- Republic of Prance (Capital: Mareseilles): A republic located on another continent. This developed country has a fairly diverse economy, but the economy is heavily dependent on agriculture, tourism, and magitek. Has a population of 29.8 million.

- Kingdom of Neighpon (Capital: Yokiyo) (A play on the Japanese name for "Japan", 日本 [Nippon]): A unitary constitutional monarchy located on another continent. Neighpon is divided into 33 circuits and one capital district. Developed in the five decades prior to Twilight's ascension with a focus on technology and logistics. Has a population of 55.9 million.

- Grand Duchy of Maretonia (Capital: Hamsterdam): A constitutional duchy located on the same continent as Prance. While not as developed as its neighbor, this tiny duchy has a stable economy based on exports. There are five provinces, but the government is fairly unitary in nature. Has a population of 5.7 million.

- United Republic of Solaria (Capital: Republic City): Federal constitutional republic located south of Equestria, Solaria also broke away from Equestria after the feudal system broke down. Developed, but with an economy heavily dependent on mining, agriculture, and logistics. There are 22 states and one capital district. Has a population of 25.5 million.

- Kingdom of Saddle Arabia (Capital: Maredina): Absolute monarchy; notorious for its hot summers and hot winters. It is one of the few countries (along with the Crystal Empire) to maintain royal families with absolute power. Its economy is heavily dependent on resource exploitation. The country has ten provinces and a population of 17.6 million.

- Republic of Zebrica (Capital: Pundamilia): Constitutional republic; it is one of the few countries to maintain a zebra majority. The republic has fifteen states and a population of 33.2 million. Despite its location on a mostly poor continent, Zebrica has managed to develop in the last four decades, with its economy centered around logistics, trade, magitek, medicine, agriculture, and tourism.

- Griffonia: Officially called itself the Griffon Kingdom. Former absolute monarchy. Griffonia had somewhat tense relations with its neighbors (Equestria and, after its independence, Arctica) until a civil war broke out over who was the rightful heir to the throne. The country disintegrated and was partitioned between Equestria, Arctica, and Ponyland. There is an active separatist movement in parts of Equestria and Ponyland, with a stated goal of resurrecting the "fallen" Griffon Kingdom. Reestablishment of Griffonia is a major political issue in Ponyland and is on the radar in Equestria.

There are more, but I don't want this post to get too long. When I learn to roleplay or write fanfics, I may cook up something involving these countries; we'll see.

Yes, also spanish is cannon, Pinkie sang the piñata song in Pinkie Pride (Dale, dale, dale, no pierdas el tino, porque si lo pierdes, pierdes el camino)

Haven't seen that episode yet, but that's cool. Though I imagine it wouldn't be called "Spanish" in-universe.  ^_^

Sponish, perhaps? As silly as that sounds.

what would be a good name for south korea in equestria and what species do you think live there

Your post made me think of this amazing comic which mentions "North Cowrea":

So "South Cowrea" would go well with it! It's presumably inhabited primarily by cows with a name like that.
