What's up with Rainbow Dash's Mane?

I've been wondering about this question since I became a brony, and I didn't think of asking you guys before now But it's probably hard to know the answer without asking the designer.

 

Just take a look at said pony's mane here.

It's a rainbow colored mane, obviously...but look at the yellow field in the rainbow. Instead of a strong yellow color, the designer chose a paler and more beige-like color for the supposedly yellow rainbow field, a bit white-like. Why do you think the designer did this? However, I don't have a problem with her current mane colors, I think it was creative of the designer to use unorthodox colors, and I think it looks far better than if Dashies mane were to have more traditional rainbow colors, like this:

But I just wonder, I'm a very curious person. So what are your thoughts on the matter?

The designer probably just chose the combination of colors for Rainbow Dash's mane that looked the best. Adjusting the hues of the colors when coloring Rainbow Dash in led to it. Also, Lauren did have these character's in mind beforehand and Rainbow Dash is based off of her G3 counterpart in design (but not character), so both probably had an effect on the final color of her mane.

The reason the designer went with that color of yellow is because it would be uncomfortable for the eyes to have the bright yellow. When you really look at it, most of the colors in her mane or either dark or toned down.

I don't think it really matters. That one different color has no meaning.

To me, it was pretty significant...it was one of the first things I noticed

Before I saw this, I was going to say that it's probably because the light yellow compliments her light blue/cyan coat, where-as if her coat was a more standard blue, they would probably choose the more standard yellow.

I agree 100%, she was probably designed that way so she won't look so...flashy. Just noticed that it looks more natural too.

Yah... see, it's kind of a cliche catch phrase when people say "pastel ponies" - but, it's legitimately the truth - their colors are truly pastel.
