"Mmm, they sure were!" replied Pinkie, and rubbed her now-pudgy belly.

 

She called to a passing waitress. "Bill, please!"

 

The waitress delivered them the bill. Pinkie placed it down in front of Storm Shine. "...Okay, mister, you can pay for the meals, but I'm the one giving the waitress a tip. Capiche?"

Storm raised his hooves in surrender.  "Alright Pinkie, I guess that that sounds fair." He said, pulling out a bag of bits and counting out the amount for their meal... And snuck a little extra in. Storm walked over to the register. "Alrighty, here you go.." He said, passing the bill and the bits to the cashier. "And I put a few extra bits in there, but don't mention it to Pinkie..." He whispered to the cashier pony. "I don't want her mad at me..."

"And now for the bill!" said Pinkie Pie. The menu had read, "Recommended tip: 15%". Pinkie gave the waitress a bag full of Bits that made up 30% the cost of the meal.

 

The mare smiled, thanked them, and went on her way.

 

Pinkie looked around. "Any more sights you wanna see?"

"Not that I can think of..." Storm replied. "Anything around here you wanted to see?" He asked in turn. "I think I've seen just about all there is that this town has to offer when I passed through here while I was still traveling... But if there is something you wanted to see, then we can go do that..." Storm said thoughtfully.

Pinkie Pie then remembered something crucial. "Oh, that's right! Almost forgot! We still have to go buy those apple pastries!" she said in realisation. "We go buy those, then we go home. Sound like a plan?" she asked, wiping spaghetti sauce from around her mouth.

Storm smiled happily. "Yeah, I  totally forgot about those!" He exclaimed. "Yeah, that sounds like a great plan! I honestly thought we'd buy some pastries from Applejack or something.." Storm said. "Somehow I totally forgot that their was a branch of the Apple Family here in Appleooza.. Wow, that sounds really dumb of me now that I say it like that..." He realized.

"Aw, that's okay, we all make mistakes," said Pinkie, patting Storm on the head. "Anyway, off we go!" She began to skip happily towards the place that sold apple pastries.

 

She bought a box that had two-hundred apple pastries inside. She showed Storm the box. "And Sugarcube Corner is left with one-hundred Bits! That's how the business works, fella!" she whispered.

Storm nodded his head. "Yep, buy low and sell high. Interestingly enough a lot of ponies care more about the convenience of the item, rather than the price." He commented. "Almost eight out of ten ponies would prefer to buy an item that is right next to them for five bits more than the stock price, instead of the same item down the road for the stock price..." Storm said.

 

"You know, I'd offer to fly us home... But I don't think the pastries would be very safe going at the speed of sound..." He told Pinkie. "So I guess we'd better start heading towards the train station.."

Pinkie Pie had an idea. She opened a door in the bottom of the box. The door lead to a pocket dimension, which she placed the pastries into.

 

She tethered four ropes from the box onto Storm; a rope for each corner of the box, a rope for each of Storm's limbs.

 

"So, Storm... are you ready to inflate?" she asked, and climbed into the box.

Storm tilted his head. "Inflate?" He asked. "Wouldn't it take longer to get home if I looked and acted like a balloon?" Storm continued. "I can't even control where I'm going when I'm all inflated... My wings just cause me to spin around, and my legs definitely can't help with directional problems..."

Pinkie Pie thought about Storm Shine's reasoning for a few seconds. "Hmm..." she said for the nth time that day. "Well... if I was lying belly-down on your baack, and holding on to your wings, do you think I would be able to steer you into the direction we want to go?" she asked.

Storm tilted his head to the right. "Maybe? Though when originally I said flying I meant actually using these." He waved one of his wings. "To do so... But I guess we could try going along the balloon route... Somehow.... If you really want to.." Storm said, deciding that it really didn't matter much to him which method they used to get home.

"Ooh! Ooh! Balloon route! Balloon route!" said Pinkie enthusiastically, and she set to work attaching the four ropes to the four top corners of the box cart. She clambered into it. "That is, if you're really sure you want to go through with it," she added thoughtfully.

Storm shrugged for the Nth time. "Sure thing Pinkie, I actually don't care much which method we use to get home.." He replied before sticking his hoof into his mouth and blowing, inflating himself so they could attempt the new method of travel. "It'll certainly be a new method of traveling..." Storm said. "If it works like you hope.."

And with that, Storm the balloon lifted off the ground. "Hooray!" said Pinkie, throwing confetti.

 

She clambered onto Storm's back (it was slightly harder to tell exactly which area was his back since his entire body was round, but his head and hooves were the same) and grabbed his wings.

 

"We're going a little too much to the right," she observed, and steered Storm to the left slightly.

Storm blinked as Pinkie steered him left. "Wow it worked! I'm kinda surprised...." He exclaimed. "I wasn't sure that you would be able to steer... But I guess we've discovered a new method of transport." Storm said. "What name should we tether it to?" Storm asked smiling despite the fact that Pinkie probably couldn't see it.

Pinkie giggled at yet another pun. "Well... not many ponies can inflate and deflate at will... plus they might find it a bit weird to turn another pony into a vehicle. So perhaps we should just keep it to ourselves."

Storm chuckled, but had to stop himself from laughing too hard. "Yeah, it would probably seem pretty odd to use an inflati-pony as transport... So I can agree to keeping it to myself." He agreed. "I should probably stop making puns for the trip though, If I laugh too hard I'm liable to deflate... Then I would have to recover in time to catch you.. Or at least make myself a decent landing pad to soften your fall.." Storm said.

"Yeah, you're right," replied Pinkie. "Let's keep the puns to a minimum."

 

She thought about something. "What if this is some sort of stage that you go through in life, and you suddenly lost your inflation and deflation powers?" she wondered. "While you were using them? Then you'd be stuck as a balloon, or a rug..."

 

"But don't worry, you'd be plenty useful to me."

Storm's eyes widened as he thought about losing his stretchy-ness.. "That wouldn't be fun, especially if it happened while we were in the air... But as far as I know, I've always been able to do it so it shouldn't be a problem.." He replied after a moment. "But if it does, I'm glad I won't end up falling out of style." Storm chuckled. "Just falling..."

Pinkie snorted through giggles at Storm's pun. No matter how many she heard, they would always be funny to her.

 

"You know, Storm," she said. "Perhaps the Cakes will be okay with you staying over again when we tell them that you helped me with my job today. Just a thought."

 

"If not, we could spend the night at your place..."

Storm blushed again. "Erm- uh.. M-maybe.." He said with a slight stutter. "Though we would have to make a visit to Twilight if you wanted to visit my house..." Storm informed her. "Being a cloud and all, it'd be kinda hard for an earth pony to stand on it without a spell..."

"Asking Twilight for magic would be fine and dandy!" said Pinkie with a smile.

 

"I had another idea just now..." she said. "If you deflate yourself now, you'd probably fly around in a random pattern just like a balloon. Maybe we could use that to get home a bit faster?"

Storm smiled. "Worth a try I guess." He said thoughtfully. "Hang on!" Storm exclaimed before opening his mouth and exhaling, causing the air to start whooshing out of him with the sound of a deflating balloon, accelerating their movement through the air.

"WHEEEEE!" yelled Pinkie Pie in excitement as she held on for dear life.

 

Through the stars and clouds they soared, and Pinkie had to agree that it was one of the most thrilling experiences of her life.

 

Eventually, they landed on the ground, on top of the roof of Sugarcube Corner.
