She felt her cheeks get warm again, and her eyes looked away from him, but her smile remained, and she didn't try to move away.  What am I doing? she thought, usually I'M the one doing the seducing!  Not normally one to fall for charm, Sakuya had to admit to herself that something was different with him.  It's because he's half-demon, she told herself, yeah, that must be it.  She forced her eyes to meet his.  "Thanks," she replied weakly, not used to being treated as nice as this...

He stood in the ally, watching the apartment building just across the road.  Other ponies walked past, but none saw him, possibly due to his pitch-black body suit.  His bright red eyes watched, as a light flashed in the window for a moment, before fading.  So, she's showing off her tricks? he thought to himself, his eyes narrowing, that will either scare him away, or draw him in.  Still, I do not see the point of this game.  He is already agreed to work with us, so what does she intent to accomplish?  Ravage stood there in the darkness, pondering a topic of life he'd never quite understood....

Dividend Yield looked out the large panoramic window of his first class suite, gazing out at the darkened skyline of Manehatten. The suite was tastefully decorated with only the finest furnishings and took up the entire top floor of the hotel he way staying at.  The suite was almost entirely dark, as most of the lights had been turned off.

 

"You're not thinking of jumping out, are you?" Rhythmic Rhapsodist half jokingly asked him from the comfort of his easy chair. The only light in the room shone on him, highlighting his light grey fur and emerald mane. His wings fluttered gently behind him, as he flipped through a newspaper, his grassy green eyes carefully reading the black and white print of the newspaper.

 

"Of course not." Dividend responded. In the darkness of the room he was little more then a silhouette. "I merely wanted to do a little sightseeing. I'll need to know the lay of the land if we're to make our way to this Ennex fellow tomorrow morning without getting lost on the way there."

 

"Makes sense to me! But do try and get some sleep. We'll have a very busy day tomorrow!" He put down his newspaper and smiled directly at Dividend. "A very busy day indeed."

 Malachi didn't think he would be able to get this far. But he's celebrating in his head right now that he did. And cince he was so close to her and holding her chin, this would be the part where he'd kiss her. But for some reason  he thought if he did she would remember from this morning. But it was a chance he was willing to take. He then pulled her closer, slowly closing his eyes and kissed her . Not like thos morning, his time he was gentle and putting care into it.

While she knew it was coming, she still felt a bit startled, though that was more due to the fact that she let things get this far.  Finally deciding to just go with her feelings, Sakuya melted into him, allowing her own eyes to close, and just gave in to the moment....

Having given up his watch, Ravage was walking down the street, keeping to the shadows and away from other ponies.  He still didn't understand what Sakuya's plan was, or why she invited Malachi inside.  But he had other business to attend to, besides fowlsitting his bosses pet.  Waste of my time anyway, he thought, I have to get to Ponyville, and take care of that errand for Ennex.  Pausing to toss one last glance at Sakuya's apartment building, he continued down the street.  Don't mess this up... he thought to her.

 He tilted his head so he could take the kiss in fully. After what seemed like forever, he broke the kiss so he could catch his breath. Then with a smile he pulled her closer to him and rest his cheek next to hers. "I really like you, Sakuya. And that's why I think your worth taking my time over.  So I wont rush things and end us mucking it up."

She smiled warmly at him, taking a moment before replying.  "So I'm worth something to you, huh?" she asked playfully.  "I'm glad somepony thinks so.  Honestly, you're the first one to treat me like this.  Other ponies are usually more... forthcoming... with what they want from me."  Her smile changed from warm to wicked for a moment.  "Luckily, I know how to deal with such characters.  But you... you're different.  No other stallion has ever been this warm to me.  Well..." her eyes lowered, and her smile vanished, "except for Ennex..."

His eye's flashed open, his mind wide awake. A quick glance at the clock on the wall told him what his aching stomach was already saying. It was late at night (or early morning), and as he slowly sat up in bed, hie head felt like a bomb had gone off inside it. DOing his best to ignore it, Ennex slowly got to his feet, and made his way over to the window. The night lights of the Manehattan skyline lit up the sky, and not helping with his headache. Not quite sure what stirred him from his sleep, he just stood there watching, alone...

 Malachi's smile slowly went away as well. "Did you two have a thing or something? If you did then you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." He hugged her closer. "I still like you, and I'm gonna treat ya right if you're willing to give me a chance. If you're not, I ain't gonna give up till you do."

She looked back up at him with a week smile.  "You really mean that, don't you?" she asked.  "Being treated right."  Her eyes shifted to stare out the window.  "I've always wondered what that felt like.  My life hasn't given me much chance for relationships.  I mean, I've read about it, and stuff, but..."  Her voice trailed off, and she just sat their quietly for a moment, before continuing.  "And Ennex?  Well, there were rumors.  You know the kind: mare only gets promotion because she slept with the boss.  But honestly, we never really had a 'thing'.  It was one time, shortly after he took me in.  I was still young, lost my mother, and was so full of hate.  I guess I just saw him as my savior, giving me a new life and everything.  Just got lost in the moment."  Sakuya looked up at Malachi.  "But we moved past it.  Ennex really doesn't care about that sort of thing anyway.  He's completely obsessed with power.  Wanting more, controlling what he has, dreaming of conquest, etc.  Not exactly what one looks for in a 'partner'"

 Malachi smirked. "Yeah, I hear all the mares are looking for stallions who are half demon, can see the darkness in everyones hearts who also is a capo for one of the biggest crime families in the city. I'm also not a bad dancer." He chuckled. "But, I really do mean it. Pop may have taught me how to lie at the right time but ma taught me to also be honest with my feelings." He placed a hoof gently on her cheek. "And to me, power is just means to an end. It is true I have power myself, but I don't have it just for the sake of having it.

 

I have friends, family and everyone in my territory to look out for. Having others look up to you and count on you is power within itself. love is among them."

Sakuya blushed when he touched her cheek.  "I never thought of power like that," she replied.  "All I've known is power through brute force and intimidation.  That's the way he likes to run things."  Her eyes dipped.  "I've even embraced and used it that way myself.  Ruined my own share of lives."  She shuddered, and seemed to shake the memories away.  "Having others looking up to you, counting on you..... loving you..." she looked back up... "I'd love to know how that feels...."

Malachi gave her a caring look. The hoof that was placed on her cheek moved to the back of her head so he can run his hoof though her mane as he embraced her. He pulled her head close to her chest so she could the rapid beating of his heart." My heart did this the first time I kissed you. I thought it was because I was getting near Ennex. But I soon realized it wasn't. You seem to have this effect on me." He said as he gently stroked her mane. He was treating her like she was the most precious thing to him.

 

"No one has ever made my heart beat this fast before. Even when I'm in a fight is an even beat. " He placed his head lightly on top of hers. "I love you, Sakuya. And that's all there is."

 

((I think that was pretty damn smooth.))

Her cheeks warmed, as a smile crept across her face.  Sakuya had never experienced anything as emotional as this before.  Well, that wasn't quite true.  There was the overwhelming anger and hatred the night she avenged her mother.  And the love she received from her mother.  But that was so long ago...

 

"I... I don't know what to say," she admitted.  "I've almost forgotten what it feels like to be... to be loved..."  Unconsciously, her body seemed to melt into him, taking comfort in the warmth of his body.... 

 

....I'd almost forgotten....

He was still standing at the window, looking out over the night sky, the lights of the city.  Still unsure what was keeping him up, but something....  somewhere....   With a sigh, Ennex turned away from the window, and approached a record player sitting on a side table.  He lifted the record sitting there to read the label:

 

OCTAVIA'S SYMPHONIES: My Snowy Mare

 

"Maybe this will help me relax," he muttered, replacing the record on the player, adjusting the arm, and starting it up.  As the music began, he lay back down in his bed, his eyes staring into nothingness....

 He didn't say say anything for a while. He just kept her closer to him. He would sometimes stroker her mane and rub her back gently as if to so if she was really there. Because it seemed like she melted into him so much it was like hugging himself. He moved her closer to hear ear and spoke in a light tone. "Would you mind if we stay like this for the rest of the night? I don't think I can let you go anytime soon." He said as he leaned against the couch so they'll both be more comfortable.

"Yes," she muttered, trying to snuggle in against him.  The warmth of his body was so soothing!  She'd hadn't felt this content with another pony since the last time....  well, since the last time her mother had held her.  Ennex never held her like this before...  "I don't want you to let go," she said, eyes closing.  Just a few minutes later, and she was fast asleep in his embrace...

Malachi was kept stroking her mane till he till he falls asleep himself. Before he drifted off he started thinking of the right way to take things. He wanted to make absolutely sure that he didn't screw this up.  After hitting key points on how he could do that he soon fell asleep himself. Holding Sakuya close to him and showed no sign of letting her go,

  The first rays of light crept through the the window, casting shadows around the room, and creating a glare that landed directly on Sakuya's eyes,  she squinted them open, frowned at the light, and glanced around.  It took her a moment to realize she wasn't in her normal bed... and, she was unusually warm.  Suddenly, she noticed the extra limbs that wrapped around her body, and her memory finally began to return.  Oh yeah, she thought with a smile, as another quick glance above her head revealed the sleeping form of Malachi.  Shifting her own head slightly, taking care to avoid poking him with her horn, she managed to get her eyes out of the light and back into shadow, closing them once again....

Trying (and failing) to hide his discomfort, Ennex slowly exited the elevator and made his way across the lobby to the double doors that led to his office.  The young mare behind the secretary's desk looked up as he approached.  "Sir," she said with a weak smile, "I have your appointment list for the day if you-"

 

"Where is Sakuya?" he demanded, cutting her off.  The harshness of his voice caught her off guard.  

 

"I'm..... I'm not sure.  She hasn't been in the office yet."  The mare was getting nervous.  She heard the stories of the last secretary who had displeased the boss.

 

"Fine.  Send her in when she eventually arrives," he grumbled, rubbing his head.  The hangover from last night was not helping this morning.  "And hold any other visitors for now."  Another thought occurred.  "Have somepony get up here with some apple danishes and a hot chocolate."  Without waiting for a reply, he pushed open the doors and entered his office, leaving the bewildered secretary staring after him...

 Malachi quietly snored as he kept his hold on Sakuya like a security blanket. When he felt her shifting he pulled her closer without waking up. Throughout the night his dreams were filled with nothing but comfortable images.  It was the most pleasant sleep he's ever had in his life. The kind of sleep when everything is right with the world. He few times he mumbled Sakuya's name in his sleep.

Slowly, she opened her eyes, taking in the sight of the warm body next to her.  Shifting slightly to glance at the wall clock, Sakuya came fully awake.  Oh no!  I am so late for work!  Carefully and slowly, so as not to (hopefully) wake Malachi, she pulled herself free of him and climbed off the couch.  And I have that important job to do today as well, she thought, quietly heading into the bathroom to freshen up.  Just a quick shower, then I'll wake him up, and head to the office.  She turned on the water, and climber in, as the steam slowly crept out from under the bathroom door...

 The smell of hot water and shampoo slowly woke Malachi up.  He lets out a long yawn as he stretched out his legs. He stand up and dose a few more stretches, Which made his back and joints pop. When he was done he looked around till he could see the steam coming from the bathroom. A mischievous smik mad it's way to his face as he got an idea. He took off his hat, Hawaiian shirt and wifebeater and made his way over to the bathroom.

 

He slowly opened the door. He could see Sakuya washing her mane in the shower. He then quietly sneaked in and went over to the shower. He moved the curtain and stepped inside. Then he hugged her from behind, placing his head on her shoulder. "Good morning mio tesoro."

So caught up in her shower, Sakuya didn't notice her visitor until he had her in a wet hug.  

 

"Good morning mio tesoro."

 

Her hoofs paused above her head, while a smirk made its way across her face.  "About time you woke up," she teased, reaching down to hold onto the legs that wrapped around her.  "Now let me finish, I'm late for work as it is."  Finishing up her mane, she stepped out of the shower, leaving the water on.  Turning, Sakuya leaned back in to give Malachi a peck on his cheek.  "Feel free to freshen up.  Then we can head over to the Tower..."

He smiled. "Sure thing. But I don't see why you got to rush,  Well mostly because I'm kinda my own boss. I only answer to my old man about big things and whatnot. Other then that me and the other thee capos do our own things." He said while he washed his mane and horn. "Mind if we stop for breakfast on the way? I'm desperate for a three cheese omelette."

Sakuya sighed.  "Stallions!  Always thinking with your stomachs!" she said in jest.  "And some of us don't have the freedom to choose our working hours."  Having finished brushing out her hair, she turned to face him.  "But that's beside the point.  After I check in at the office, I have to go to our waterfront warehouse to supervise an important delivery."  She held her head up with pride.  "Ennex is trusting me with a new, big contract, and I don't want to let him down."

"Sounds riveting." He said in monotone. "Mind if I tag along? It's been a slow week and about the only thing I do is take walks around my neighborhoods. Plus I can watch your back incase something goes down." When he was done he got out to dry himself off. "And I can't help feeling hungry in the morning. Ma loves to cook so I'm use to three meals a day."
