What I think of the whole "Applejack has no parents" thing:

Let's look at the Mane 6 and their parents:

Twilight: Shown in Cutie Mark Chronicles and (ithink) A Canterlot Weding

 

Rarity: Seen in Sisterhooves Social

 

Pinkie Pie: On the rock farm

 

*THEORY BOMB* The Oranges are Applejack's Real Parents.

*KABOOOOOMMMM*

1. All of the Apples we have seen have either a red or green coat or red and/or green in their mane. Applejack has neither.

2. Her story in Cutie Mark Chronicles... suddenly has a lot more weight.

 

It's weak, but, sure, let's go with it.

 

Further looking into it, We can assume the Oranges had Orange...Jack...? And, thinking a kid would interfere with their lifestyle, gave her to granny smith, who never had her own child (or gave him/her away. Who knows. Probably the former.)

 

Looking even further, is this why AJ despises Rarity's ways so much? Because of her bad impressions with the oranges?

 

What about Rarity? Why is she so... against AJ's ways?

I don't get the impression that Rarity and Applejack are against each other's ways at all. Also:

 

 

 

A recent book revealed that Granny Smith is Applejack's Maternal grandmother, so it seems entirely likely Granny married an Orange and her daughter married an Apple.
