Why Doesn't Fighting Is Magic Tribute Edition Ask For Hasbro Lisence

I mean there have been TONS of MLP games out there and a huge comic book series. Hasbro do allow people to expand there universe. The reason why the original Fighting Is Magic got taken down is that is was taken too seriously and massive game tournaments were mentioning it. I just want to say that even though Faust is helping them create new art, why did they not ask for a Hasbro licence. Then they could have sold it and Hasbro would have allowed it to flourish.

Also if Tribute Edition changed its name to stop coming into legal issues with the under development Fighting is Magic. Why was this not an option.

Also I don't understand why Pony Archive was taken down, were they making money from it or something.

The comics were darkish, and MLP is not as light as you would think it is.

While that sounds good in theory, Hasbro will never give the go-ahead to a MLP fighting game. That's why FiM got the C&D in the first place; it's not like they never heard of it before that, but like you said it got too big and popular so they had to do something unless they wanted to be seen as indirectly approving of the project.

In short, nobody is submitting for a license because Hasbro would never approve it. They said as much with the C&D.

Hasbro has only recently been tabbed as an innovator when it comes to licensing fan-made products, however I don't think they will approve of this as they feel it gives the wrong image of their franchise. It's all on where they want to take it, and fighting games are not intended to be the domain of ponies.

Why did they get rid of Pony Archive and also what fan made products have been licensed. Mainly games.

Well, Pony Archive got taken down because Hasbro's legal department decided it had the potential to divert viewership to a volume they deemed significant enough to warrant action. I don't quite know what you mean by the second part of your post.

I don't quite understand, and the second part was saying can you list the fan made products which HAVE been licensed by Hasbro.

If I recall, Pony Archives had videos of all the episodes. That goes against copyright laws, since it could be seen as taking away views from the actual show/channel. It's the same reason youtube videos of episodes get taken down. As for fan-made games licensed by Hasbro, I can't say with certainty. As far as I'm aware there aren't any.

Dailymotion seem to be able to stream videos freely, their much less strict than others with their copyright claims, and they do consider that doing stuff like this is bringing people into the fanbase. I mean I live in the UK and have no access to MLP on TV and would have never have become a brony if these sites didn't exist. So if that got taken down, why haven't Dailymotion videos.

Most likely because they don't know about them, and they aren't as prolific as the youtube videos or Pony Archive was. If someone took the time to report all of the dailymotion videos, and dailymotion was cooperative with the copyright process (as youtube is) then they'd get taken down too.

Yea, there is so much stuff on there like FIW and what not that were taken down on youtube and all other places.

Well I am curious why hasn't Legends of Equestria been stalled or taken down(I know it is in dev) as that also contains violence and what not, and I don't think they have a license from Hasbro and it isn't like it is obscure.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but maybe they got some permission from Hasbro to make it.  I feel like I read somewhere that Hasbro did give them special permission, but I can't think where.

I'm guessing LoE only got to use a few specific things from the franchise, since lots of names are changed in their game---Ponydale instead of Ponyville, Sugarcane Corner instead of Sugarcube Corner, etc.  I can't think of a reason why they'd make those name changes unless they needed to for copyright reasons.  But then again, if there are copyright issues, and the game hasn't been taken down altogether despite those copyright issues, then I can only conclude Hasbro gave them some permissions, but not all the permissions they could've asked for.

If I had to guess why LoE got the permission and Fighting didn't, it's because Fighting is literally all about the violence, and there are other things to do in LoE.  Hasbro unfortunately didn't have the luxury of caring that Fighting was more popular.

I thought I heard that Hasbro don't take many things down, only when they feel they need too. They took Pony Archive down because that site was getting too popular.

The thing is I don't want to believe that Hasbro are complete and utter jerks because either way its their franchise, so we can try to be happy with it or we can get angry and nothing will happen. Either way if they do get taken down we always have the DVDs and they would probably just be put up again. If they want people to watch it on TV that much why don't they air on channels like CITV where I in the UK could watch it. Only american's CAN watch it on TV and that's unfair, also let Hasbro know that if it wasn't for those videos being on the internet, I would never have bought their merchandise.
