Daring Do theory.

Here is the general idea: Daring Do is the product of Rainbow Dash's magic.

Daring Do and Rainbow Dash share athleticism and appearance. Daring Do is a magic clone of Rainbow constructed entirely of her abilities and that's it. She was unleashed from Rainbow. In short, some of Dash's abilities went into a magic clone who went and became an author. Share your feedback and thoughts.

Uhhh... Maybe? I think that might work if RD went faster than the speed of light, then you can use some esoteric 2001/Interstellar metaphysics to somehow make a copy. But really I think she's just an author who lives her stories.

So what you're saying is, Rainbow Dash performed a Sonic Rainboom, and Daring Do was born from it, Newborn Cuties style, retaining some of Rainbow Dash's abilities.
Alright.

I think a more plausible headcannon is that Daring Do and all of the characters in her "universe" were paid actors hired by Twilight to put on the most elaborate and expensive LARP in history, all for the benefit of Rainbow.  Think of it this way--Rainbow unknowingly signed up for Consumer Recreation Services, and Daring Don't was her "game".

I would be more inclined to believe such if magic like this was established to work in Equestria. We've seen magical comic books that can draw reality into fiction, so the reverse could be possible. If Daring Do just existed with no connection to her books, this might hold some water. However, with the established secret identity/pen name of A.K. Yearling and Daring very much being the author of her stories, this theory doesn't seem to make much sense.

Yes, Daring and Dash are similar, but they aren't the same pony. Daring is a tad more cerebral for one thing. She solves figures out the puzzle trap in the temple of the Sapphire Statue, and tries to trick Cabelleron with a disguise. In the latter case, this is directly contrasted to Rainbow Dash suggesting more direct and forceful options. Hell one of their major differences is that Dash, naturally as the element of loyalty, is very much a team player and willing to work with others while Daring has the whole lone wolf thing going for her.

I always thought of Daring Do to be the adventure side of Rainbow Dash since they look the same (Just recoloured). But that was ruined for me when they released the Daring Do episode in season 4    :(

Yeah, my favorite theory was that in Dash's imagination, Daring-Do is just a recolor of herself because they're not sure what she actually looks like. Logically, when Twilight reads it Daring could look more like a differently colored pegasus Twilight. And it kinda raises the question, why DOES Daring look exactly like Dash, even down to the gradation in mane shading?
