Now that we are practically done with the defendant to speed things along, (since things have been slow) I say we should go to court now. We could either do that or investigate, which may take some time. What do you all think?

Just like a phoenix wright game. Go through the crime scene. Whenever you go to a new location I'll tell you what things you see and find. (don't worry you don't need to tell the specific places you look at in every location)

I'm very sorry that this RP didn't go as planned. I might try to reboot it in the future, but I have failed as a DM to keep it moving, I'm sorry to all the players and will inform you if there will be a reboot.
