Nettle continued to glare at the window. He sighed heavily and turned back to Belle as the bowl of Gumbo was offered to him. "Thank you..." He muttered as he accepted it. He trotted over to a nearby table in the food court to eat his food. It wasn't far off from the other two.

Destiny grabbed some water from the kitchen fridge and grabbed a bowl. "Thanks."

 

She sat down at a table and started eating. She kept looking at the window, thinking of some way to get out of this place. "Is there like a chimney here or something? We could climb out there," she said as the idea popped into her head.

"I doubt it. Not a lot of hotels have chimneys. Unless its a ski lodge, and I'm sure we're not on a mountain." She said as she sat down at the same table as Destiny. "I've been to a few hotels so I've learned how to tell the difference." She looked around. "We're mostly likely in a-FUCK! In a four star hotel that has it's own land. It's not to far or to close to a city. So we might be near Canterlot, Manehattan or Fillydelphia."

Nettle watched the two quietly for several moments before looking down at his food. His eyes closed for a long while, indicating he was deep in thought. When he finally did open his eyes, a few tears were released, making trails down his cheeks. Either he didn't notice or he didn't care as he began to eat.

"Oh, yeah I don't get out that often," Destiny said. "There has to be some way to get out of here. We could try one of those fire escape doors buildings usually have."

 

But the lobby door didn't open. Why would a fire escape open?

 

"But, if we were near those places, wouldn't we see the streets or something? Unless we're in the sky," Destiny said, thinking of the places mentioned.

Belle looked over to Nettle and noticed that he was crying. Thinking it was ether the spice or that he was upset about something. Either way she thought it was bust not to bother him.  She looked back towards Destiny. "I doubt we're in the sky. If we were I think this place would be made out of clouds. I we-BITCH! Went to a Cloudsdale hotel once. The beds were very soft."

Nettle finished off his food before standing and slowly walking out of the food court. He paused at the entrance to the room and looked back to the two mares at the table. "I'm going to explore this place a bit... I'll go to the lobby when I'm done." He muttered just loudly enough to be heard before stepping out.

After Nettle left she started to feel bad for saying that they might be dead. She didn't really know why they were there, maybe for some other reason other then them being dead. She kept eating as she thought out how she might be able to help him feel less crestfallen somehow.

Destiny could feel the silence and tension in the room after Nettle went to explore. She finished her food and gulped down her last bit of water. She looked towards the window again, wondering what to do next.

 

I hope we're not trapped here forever. No, there has to be an exit, somewhere. I'll find it, I swear to Celestia.

Nettle continued his aimless meandering for a little while, staying near the small shops for the moment. He had every intention of exploring, but some old memories were demanding attention. As the memories began to flash to and fro in his mind, he thought back to what Belle had said about them possibly being dead.

 

"If... if I'm dead... then..." Nettle stopped completely. His face twisted into a grimace of sorrow. "No... No, no... NO!!" He suddenly turned and slammed his hoof as hard as he possibly could into the nearest wall. He took deep breaths, starting to tremble violently. More tears were now streaming down his cheeks. "Okay, Nettle... just... just calm down..." He whispered to himself, lowering his now aching hoof to the ground. He hadn't even made a dent in the wall. He stood there for several minutes, trying to calm down.

Belle eat the rest of her gumbo and picked up Destiny's plates and took them to the kitchen sink to wash them. When she was done she took what was left in the pot and out it in a container and sealed it. Then she put it in a refrigerator so it wouldn't go to waste.  She head back to the dining room where Destiny was. "You want to take a look around, see what else is hear?"

"Sure," Destiny replied, getting up. She walked out of the restaurant and into the hall. "Which door do you want to go through?" she asked, looking at all the doors. She looked at the door across from the lobby. "How about there?"

 

Destiny opened the door and stepped inside. "An indoor water park?"

Belle followed beside Destiny. When saw the water park she let out a whistle. "Merde, this place is high class. Not a lot of places have an indoor water park." She walked towards  one of the pools and dipped her hoof in the water. "It feels nice." She lift her hoof to her nose and sniffed it. "It doesn't have the sent like it's been here a while. It doesn't even have the sent of chlorine."

Destiny didn't smell chlorine either. "Weird. This is definitely creepy."

 

She looked up at the water slides that were still running. "Why would anypony build this hotel and abandon it like this?" she asked. "And then trap us in it?"

 

She dipped her hoof in the water tentatively, and lifted it out.

After a while of moping, Nettle managed to pull himself together enough to continue. He wandered for a short while, taking note of every detail and mapping the place out in his mind. As he wandered, he soon came to an open door. A spark of hope went through him at the possibility of somepony else. As he went through the door into the water park, his hope was shattered as he saw only Belle and Destiny. He stood for a moment before approaching. "Find anything?" He asked, though his voice was a little hoarse from his shouting earlier.

Belle looked towards  Nettle when she heard his voice. "No, just this place. It seems to be well taken care of. The slides are running and the water seems fresh. Like someone pumped clean water in the pools, started the slides and just left. " She checked the water again. After a sec she shrugged and took offer her wrap and places it on a lounge chair. She also dropped her pad and pencil but left her choker on. Then she ran towards the pool and jumped in, making a large slash.

Nettle looked around the place with a confused expression. "This place just gets weirder and weirder by the minute, doesn't it?" He looked back down to Belle and couldn't help but chuckle in amusement as she jumped into the pool. "Not to be rude, I know you're enjoying the water, but is now really the best time to be going for a swim? Shouldn't we be trying to figure out a way out of this place?"

"I'm going to go continue exploring," Destiny said and walked out into the hall. She took a door to the left of the lobby and entered a huge arcade.

 

"Whoa.." She remembered going to small arcades as a filly when she had nothing else to do. This was way beyond the size of the ones she went to.

 

Now is not the time to play around. It is tempting though..

"It's not like we're on a time limit or anything. " She said pulling back mane to get it out of her face. "Plus, Why can't we enjoy ourselves. Sure we might be trapped here, but there might be a chance we can get out, But between that is a fi-FUCK! Fine line between obsessing over escaping and taking things slow and surly. If we go down that line things wont seem as hopeless."

Nettle nodded slowly. "I guess I see your point..." He looked around at the water park, a downtrodden expression coming over him. "I get the feeling Swallow would love it here. Well, if it wasn't a place she was trapped in..." He muttered to himself. With a tired sigh he slipped himself into the water as well, setting his glasses down on the side of the pool.

Belle floated around on her back while she played with the water a little. "My mamma use to tell me to take things one step at a time, and not to get loose hope when things seem unbearable." She went under. A few large bubbles and the sound of shouting could be heard under the water. She came back up and went back to floating. "And, if you don't mine me asking, who's Swallow? Your marefriend?"

Destiny tried to slowly back away to the door, but something caught her eye. She saw her favorite game, the one she had the high score on in the arcade in Ponyville. She walked to it and started playing it, determined to get all the high scores on it this time.

 

Destiny wasn't as good as she used to be, but she was still decent.

Nettle turned his head away as a pained expression came over him. "I... I guess you could say something like that. I love that mare more than anything... but..." Nettle lowered his gaze and sighed. "She... never felt the same way... and I haven't heard from her in... a long time." Nettle reached out a hoof and rested it on the side of the pool as he let himself just drift i the water.

 

"The last time I saw her was when I was thirteen or so. She said her goodbyes, got on the train with her family and... we kept in touch with letters for about four or five years. But... I haven't received another for almost two years. No explanation was given. She's just... gone." Nettles eyes were starting to tear up again. "...I miss her..."

Belle now felt really bad. She stopped floating and swam over to Nettle. "I'm sure you do. I'm sorry I asked. I didn't mean to upset you." She said, then her face twitched a bit from holding in a shout. "She must have been something for you to still care for her. I wish I could meet someone like that."

"Yeah...:" Nettle replied quietly. "She was definitely something else..." He looked down into his reflection in the water. "Although sometimes, I find myself wishing that I had never met her. On the grounds that I can never be with her... and that her absence is causing me so much grief..." Nettle sighed and gave a clearly forced and fake smile. "I'll be fine. don't worry about me."
