MLP puzzle-solving platform game

I've started playing around trying to write a My Little Pony platform game. Gameplay is going to be something a bit like the Dizzy games. The aim will be to walk around Equestria solving various ponies' problems, who will reward you by performing various favours, or giving certain gifts, which in the end will allow you to defeat the big bad.

 

It will be a single player game, but you can choose which character at the beginning. The mane 6 will all be playable characters, and there might be a few other playable characters too. Game play is easiest if you choose Twilight because as an alicorn she has magic, flight, and strength.

 

The other characters each have their own challenges. Like if you're Applejack you won't be able to fly to start with, so won't be able to access parts of the game which are in the sky. You'll have to find a sufficiently powerful character, do a favour for them, and get them to grant you the power of flight.

 

Anyway, so far I've written very little of it. But I thought I'd give people a preview. There are currently only three "rooms" (they're actually outdoors), and only one character (Pinkie!). There are no NPCs or objects to interact with.

 

To run the game, first you need to install the LÖVE engine which is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

 

Then you need to download the game itself. It's self-contained in a single file called gam.love which I've uploaded to FileDropper here. (FileDropper's kind of an annoying site, so if anybody can suggest somewhere better to upload (preferably without me needing to sign up to anything), I'd appreciate it.) If LÖVE is installed correctly, you ought to just be able to double-click the downloaded gam.love file to launch the game. You can use "a" and "d" to move left and right.

Wow you work pretty fast, yea that looks much better than it was, was thinking what kind of gypsy magic allowed Pinkie to slide across the ground lol. Nah I realize it is in the early stages though, it just made me lol for a sec.

I seem to have introduced a resource leak, so the animation is a bit awful and jerky. I'll need to figure out what's going wrong.
