Dulset Tarn 441 January 10, 2015 Share January 10, 2015 Hey everyone, let's all think back to the times this show has really impressed us. Try to think of the best writing you can remember from the show. And I don't mean what made you laugh the most, or feel the most, or "hell yeah" the most. If I had to define it, I guess I'd say whatever part you could actually think back on weeks later and just continuously realize more and more just how well written it is, how much thought and cleverness the writers stuffed into one scene, how much deeper it is than just what we see on a surface level. Or alternatively, it doesn't have to be just one scene, but a whole character. Go ahead, think hard and show us all how talented and cunning the writers are! Pastel 7,630 January 10, 2015 Share January 10, 2015 The episode A Canterlot Wedding: very well written, the story was very catchy, every scene was good, and the whole episode was well paced, which is hard for a 40 minutes episode. Same goes for The Crystal Empire.

ThatOneComrade 1,091 January 10, 2015 Share January 10, 2015 I know most of the fandom doesn't like the Mysterious Mare Do-Well episode (most of it is really badly-written), but it's got the best RD scene in the show. I have yet to see something that surpasses this scene, and I doubt I will again. 2 href="/monthly_02_2014/post-8308-0-69609200-1393191794.png">
Tilt 286 January 10, 2015 Share January 10, 2015 For me, Season 4's Castle-Mania to me was writing perfection, Dave Polsky really outdid himself with this episode. It utilized all the characters, gave them all funny moments and is just enjoyable to watch from start to finish. If I ever want to remind myself why I watch the show for it's writing that is the very episode I go to! 1 My pony OC If you would like to Roleplay please Private message me, I only like one on one Roleplays cause groups get overwhelming and becoming attention contests, I like to rp with people equally. Dark Qiviut 22,491 January 10, 2015 Share January 10, 2015 In Wonderbolts Academy, Rainbow Dash's characterization was extremely balanced. Boastful, blunt, concerned, doubtful, and loyal to her friends and morals. When Lightning Dust conducted the tornado that nearly killed her friends, Dash finally had it with how Wonderbolts Academy not only tolerated Dust's behavior, but also condoned it. As stated in the pilot, Rainbow Dash's biggest dream is to be a Wonderbolt, when getting her dreams come true translated into sacrificing her morals, her friends and morals come first. By laying down her pin and uttering, "I quit!", her character (and season three itself) apexed. Mature moments like these are rarely seen in family-friendly products today, and it should be done much more. 3 "Talent is a pursued interest." — Bob Ross Pro-Brony articles: 1/2/3/

I actually thought that was the only episode in season 3 worth watching myself, a lot of season 3 episodes were painful for me to watch. No. When a character apexes, it's usually when the character's usually written at her best or most developed. When she was introduced in season one, she was extremely immature, and there were many bouts of it like Fall Weather Friends and Boast Busters. The Rainbow Dash in season three is much more mature than S1's due to her character growth. Wonderbolts Academy is one of the most mature episodes in the entire show thanks to its delivery and advancement of character, her decision to quit the Academy her biggest highlight of the episode, season, and Dash herself. Tilt 286 January 10, 2015 Share January 10, 2015 (edited) The second episode. With the Shadowbolts. Dash passes on her own heart's desire in favor of her friends, remember? That remember was not needed, please stop being so passive aggressive. Now that is completely different, her hearts desire is to join the Wonderbolts, not the Shadowbolts. She didn't quit the Shadowbolts neither because she hadn't even joined them and to be fair it would be a lot easier to pass up a team you had never heard of before untill that point. When she quit the Wonderbolts Academy she was literally giving up her dream for her friends a MUCH bigger development. There's a very big difference between them. The Shadowbolts (which is nothing more than an illusion conducted by Night Mare Moon) gave her an ultimatum: choose her friends or the Shadowbolts. The answer is pretty obvious. The Academy (and Spitfire herself) implied not just a tolerance for reckless behavior, but a reward for it, too. Even when others were getting hurt, Lightning Dust (and Dash, by association) were rewarded for it every time. We know Dash is somewhat in the wrong, but you get to see the conflict in her point of view, so you get to sympathize with her. More importantly, being a Wonderbolt has been her dream since Day 1. On the other hand, the way the Academy was constructed implied rewarding for actions that could literally kill someone. If compromising her integrity was how she was going to accomplish her lifelong dream, then she chose to give up her dream. So then that just makes it even less meaningful than with the Shadowbolts, because they never rewarded recklessness, rashness, and getting ahead at the expense of others. So you're saying that her refusing the Shadowbolts is worth more to Dash's character than refusing the Wonderbolts? Also Spitfire basically came at the end of the episode and said they don't look for the qualities you just mentioned. Tilt 286 January 10, 2015 Share January 10, 2015 In the context of the stories surrounding them, yes. Please elaborate because when she "left" the shadowbolts she was smiling and being goofy like 'lel obvious choice' but when she was leaving the wonderbolts academy she looked absolutely crushed and devastated. 1 My pony OC If you would like to Roleplay please Private message me, I only like one on one Roleplays cause groups get overwhelming and becoming attention contests, I like to rp with people equally. hawkflame 3,310 January 11, 2015 Share January 11, 2015 I've always been impressed by Rarity Takes Manehattan. Not just because Rarity is my favorite character, but because it's really rather economically told. It has to set up, build on, and pay off a real conflict, as well as multiple new characters, all while adding an awesome new song (and reprise) while teaching a valuable moral by the end. It establishes and accomplishes a *lot* in just 22 some odd minutes. Even if this wasn't about Rarity I'd still think this was a fantastic episode. Sig by Thunderstorm Check out my Rarity fansite! VitalSpark 1,830 January 11, 2015 Share January 11, 2015 I'd like to nominate the entire season 4 Tirek story arc. Although the Tirek story culminates in the finale, it builds up through the whole season: There's the discovery of the Tree of Harmony chest in the opening double episode. The chest is referenced several times throughout the season. There's a blueprint of it in the background in Twilight Time, and it's Twilight's reason for going to the castle of the two sisters in Castle Mane-ia. Also in Castle Mane-ia we catch our first glimpse of Tirek. Then there are the five episodes where most of the mane 6 get their keys to the chest without realising it. And it even uses Cerberus' escape from Tartarus in season 2's It's About Time as part of the plot. I really liked how so much led up to the finale. ~VitalSpark~ [fimfiction] [deviantart]
