Dark Mist isn't evil, just a victim of an experiment with Dark Magic, this allows her to become a cloud of black smoke, she doesn't turn into other ponies. While Candy Star is friendlier than most, she relaxed and energetic; also tends to make friends gradually over time. Just to clarify, Dark Mist isn't evil in any way, she is just a victim; a pet project of an experiment. This allows her to turn into a cloud of black smoke, but she had sunk into madness and can't control her own actions.
