Just a peeve of mine

Has anyone else noticed that despite the fact that lying, spouting BS, and being a huge douche are alright on the discussion boards, actually accusing someone of lying, spouting BS, or being a huge douche is against the rules? How backwards is that?

Uhhh... I haven't really seen many liars lately. And maybe your idea of a huge douche doesn't seem like a huge douche to everypony else.

Anyway, if a member is breaking the rules in some way you could contact a moderator instead of accusing the person directly.

Jeez, calm down, when large numbers of people are involved with anything their is usually going to be some drama and some less than pleasant discussion going on here and their....I just personally prefer to stay out off all that drama shit if at all possible, I think that with whatever happened it would be wise to just take a deep breath, calm your nerves a bit and move on.

Because it condemns the discussion to be about you and the other person rather than the subject at hand. Derailing the discussion to be about person A and person B's problems with one another is the worst fate a thread could be condemned to; it's far better if the moderators deal with radical posts within the framework of the discussion rather than an uncontrolled grudge match. It causes far less drama and doesn't derail the thread, and it's not easy to get it back on track if two parties turned the discussion about one another. In the case of whether or not the moderators find a post against the rules, though, that's up to them: just report and move on.

I would suggest you go and take a good, long read of the rules page and acquaint yourself with them as I have. One of the Global Community Rules specifically states that you're not to post back to rule violators but are to report them to a moderator through the report button. That's just so you'll know so you won't get yourself in trouble with the mods and get in trouble for it.

Please read the post you just quoted, and that goes for the others here too.

Thank you for your feedback. Please feel free to submit a Support Ticket if you have specific concerns that cannot be discussed openly due to privacy. As this thread is framed in a manner that can be taken as community chastisement, it is not conducive to a constructive dialog with Forum Staff. For the record, being a douche is most certainly against the rules.

It is always best to bypass the tribalism and not focus on the individual duruing discourse. The easiest way to do that is to distinguish the views of the individual from the individual.

Locking the thread.

I'm just doing what I can to make sure they don't get in any trouble. I'm sure you wouldn't want to see that any more than I do, would you?
