"Bare-back... That term is still a stranger to me. I mean back home, race doesnt matter, youre free do as you wish... As long as it is lawful of course. Doesnt it get boring to just stay there like that?"

A guard peeked in the room and made the duke a sign,

"Well, gotta go, paperwork calls! Its been a pleasure... Cyrillia."

 

He makes an elegant bow, removing his hat and then follows the guard.

The king realizes the clear provocation,

"the guy that announces his arrival with fireworks..." he tells himself.

 

"I am king Ludwig Hoofsburg, i dont believe i have ever heard of Abenstern, though i must say, your entrance was clearly hard to notice." The king tells the foreigner with a smile.

The head Done chuckled as he walked over to the table with the leaders drinks. He slid them over to them as he took a seat in his normal red leather chair. "That it was master Kaiser. I got to say, it really seemed to entertain and amaze the people of the city." He said with a smile. "And now for my introduction. I am the Head Don of the council of five, Don Malachi Semiazas Semi.  Before me, my father was the one at the helm. And I'm happy to welcome you both to Quinacta. Even though we are fairly young, we still hope to make friends with other nations and maybe do some business while we're at it." He smirked.

@@Lordav, "It's a pleasure to meet the ruler of a hermit kingdom. I am sorry that we couldn't put on a bigger show, but we didn't want to risk setting the homes of innocent civilians on our first visit to this nation." he replied back also smiling.

@@Lordav, (Oh don't worry, I was getting there. And I'd comment on how stuck up the king is, if he weren't keeping his thoughts to himself.)

 

"We've actually lost a vessel of ours recently. You wouldn't happen to know if there have been strange sightings in your area, or a ship lost at sea, now would you?" he asked. He also drank from his glass, savoring the taste.

"Ship, oh no havent had a foreign ship in our waters for years. Mind you, there was a flying one though, blew up right outside of a port, almost trashed the lightouse. All we got was a dark blue and black flag (my memory withers me). Didnt have much luck finding its owner though."

 The Don raised his glass as well. "Very kind of you. We like to have a cultural fair once a year so the beings of the city can shear there heritage with each other. Maybe one day you could set a show up for us.  And it's McCullin Scotch. Brewed by the  McCullin clan that reside here. I believe you were lucky enough to meet Flits McCullin." He said before taking a drink

 

After hear what the king said his eyebrows rose a little. "So, the stories are true. There are such thing as flying ships. A few of of the engineers say it couldn't be done. Looks like they were wrong." He chuckled again.

"Oh flying ships of all sizes alright. We got a entire fleet of them, still wooden though... But useful nevertheless, they proved their worth about... A few months ago."

 

He finished his glass and took out a hankercheif to clean his mouth of any drops.

"I believe I met him briefly when he gave me your invitation. Interesting gent he was. And apparently from a brewing family. I might have to become a future customer." he said to the Don smiling. He turned back to the King. "You have your own fleet of them you say?" He asked rather sternly. He pulled out a handkerchief of his own that happened to be of the Abendstern flag. "Tell me, did the flag happen to look like this?"

The king looked at the hankercheif,

"Yes, indeed it did. If it truly was your i regret to inform you that there were no survivors. Though all the recovered bodies were given a honorable funeral. The wreckage of the ship itself is still kept, we could return it if you so wish."

The captain walked to the diplomats,

"Until we reach the capital, do you have any questions about our great nation?"

 

In the meantime, it was time for the crew to clear the cannons, they loaded blank shots and fired the cannons. The explosions of ignition roared throughout the ship.

The diplomats all jumped at the unexpected sound, but they had heard cannons before, so they knew what the sound was. "Are we under attack?" one of them asked.

One of the diplomats still wondering around the city (Half took a ride on the airship, the other half stayed behind) wandered into a church, curious as to what function the building served.

Another diplomat went back to the ship, and ordered some of the sailors to start loading some the food given to given to them as a diplomatic gift onto the ship.

Inside the shrine, it was large room, a platform in the middle of room, an alter was in the middle of that platform, with seats all around the room, a few ponies were standing around the platform putting a hoof on it, a priest stood on top of the platform talking to each pony who was around the alter

The diplomat walked into the shrine, admiring the architecture. He eventually made his way up to the front of the shrine, right in front of the alter. He waved to the priest with one of his hooves, and asked: "Excuse me sir, but what function does this building serve?"

The Don took a slow drink as he listened to the two leaders talk. He was gathering some rather interesting information, though it wasn't very useful . The Don put his glass down then the kaiser addressed him.  He still had a the same smirk on his face. "Yes, lets get to business. And please, call me, Malachi. I was hoping to open a tried route between each other. We my not have a lot but he have a few things that could catch the eyes of other. Like this Scotch." He said lifting up his glass." I also have one of the best resources there is." He smirked. "But before I shear what that is, how about you two shear something you would be willing to trade."

The priest looked at him, seeing that he was foreign, he smiled "This is a place of worship to the Sun Goddess Lixin, I am a servant to her will, ponies come here to feel connected to her, and I help them spiritually with their troubles in life, about once a week a large sermon is held here for all to listen to and enjoy the wonders she has to offer"

The diplomat gave the priest a confused stare, unsure what the priest was talking about. He assumed that this Lixin was some sort of leader in the community. "Who is this 'Sun Goddess Lixin?' Would I be permitted to go speak with her? She must be very important if so many ponies hold her in such high esteem."

the priest chuckled "no no, you cant actually visit the Lixin, shes a goddess after all, after the great war over 600 years ago after creating the world she resided in the mountains to the far west, it is nearly impossible to access" he took out out a pamphlet and handed it to diplomat, "this was yesterdays sermon, should you have time, you should join us on the next sermon"

The diplomat's eyes widened in realization, but he managed to keep a smile on his face. This must be some sort of cult! It was likely that they sacrificed ponies to their unholy sun goddess, probably while chanting ominous nonsense! He had to get out of here NOW! "Uh... thank you for the gift, I'll be sure to look it over later! If you'll excuse me, I really must be going!" He trotted towards the door as quickly as politely possible.

the outside of the city was rather busy despite it being night time, several markets were still open and ponies still walked and flew to their destinations all across the city

(Yeah but their cannons sounded different, were less powerful and had less range than european ones. Look at the opium war. The brits bombarded chinese forts and they couldnt fore back)

The next morning the guards opened the door and turned the tub over. The priest had insects all over him, some burrowing in his body.

"Waky, waky." They threw icy water on him, washing away the bugs.
