Unlikeable Pony 2,699 August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 Honestly, I just want them to cut out his idiocy, revert him to being a deadpan voice of reason assistant/snarker, and stop using him as the buttmonkey. I also would like another episode about his dragon heritage, maybe with his mother or a civilization of dragons.

And did make him a character who protrayed him better. Can't please everyone I guess.

ManaMinori 4,146 August 21, 2015 Author Share August 21, 2015 Hopefully, the staff will use the hiatus in season 5, to revise Spike's role, and stop treating him so unfairly, so that as soon as the second half of the season starts up, we'll see massive improvement Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
Rocky 68 August 21, 2015 Share August 21, 2015 (edited) There always seems to be that overhated character in television shows. Spike is that character in this case. Which is a shame since 1. He's a good character that's just really misunderstood by the fans and maybe the writers 2. A lot of the flaws in his episodes fall under more of how he's written than Spike himself if that makes any sense. Like I said before, if people don't like Spike because he's the snarky character I can completely understand that. It's just that it comes to flaws that he can't really control that people hate him for that get to me. Heck, some people don't even give a reason for why they don't like Spike. Like they're saying "I just...don't." That's called being an a-hole and I don't want to ever come across those kind of people irl. Unlikeable Pony 2,699 August 21, 2015 Share August 21, 2015 Thinking about spike though: What *motivation* does hasbro have to improve spike showing or show him more often? He doesn't seem like the kind of character to be raking in sales with the target audience, and while bronies enjoy him, he probably doesn't bring in that many sales compared to the mane six. Money talks after all, and Hasbro likes money: if there's not a big financial incentive, I could see hasbro squashing giving extra focus to him in the future. The only real "important" role I could see hasbro thinking he fills is "Character for the young males who watch the show to relate to". Heck, he's barely even existent in equestria girls. Would Spike being a supporting character really be that bad? I mean, anyone who isn't the Mane Six is a supporting character anyway, right? Rocky 68 August 22, 2015 Share August 22, 2015 (edited) Here's a question. Do you think the writers would have an easier time developing Spike if he was turned into a pony? He'd be more marketable. I can tell you that much. Granted if they turned Spike into a pony now for good, that would not only be a terrible message to send to kids but it would feel kinda lazy. Rocky 68 August 23, 2015 Share August 23, 2015 Though like I said before, you could take Spike out of FiM and give him his own show. His potential can finally be put into practice if he had his own arc, which he just can't get with the role he has in FiM.
